When I’m in mumble and people get all hot about someone killing them, all I’m thinking about is how this person needs to get a grip on reality and understand it’s just a game. It’s supposed to be fun.
It’s the same thing as people throwing clubs on the golf course after a bad shot… chill out people.
I was noticing this in WvW yesterday as well. The clone just never made it to the target and I’m sure I was in range.
In my server mumble yesterday someone was saying this and I was flummoxed I’m mostly WvW and if you don’t equip GS you’re seriously kittening yourself simply without iBeserker for breaking keeps/towers and chasing down enemies.
As far as the skills…
In PvE, GS can really screw you with all it’s AOE so you have to be careful but that’s the only downside I really see. Your claim that you can kill MOBs faster with Staff than GS is highly dubious and I wonder how many people feel the same way.
Edit: did they really change g i m p i n g into kittening?
I’ve seen it happen too, I thought it was lag maybe. Like, I casted mirror images right as something died but there was a MOB in the distance but close to the middle of the screen.
It’s just hillarious that you’re complaining about iBeserker LOS issues and start it off by talking about casting AOE … THROUGH A DOOR.
Must be trolling.
Mesmer is brutal to level, and especially so for the first 20 levels. It just takes so long to kill anything. I think a lot of what you see is people rolling a mesmer alt and comparing it to other classes which you can faceroll and kill things in 8 seconds.
I think one of the problems is drawing too much aggro in pve. I’ve been trying to finish my storyline quests recently and just did that quest where I’m defending hyleks from the undead. So there’s an army of hyleks fighting an army of risen, but if I cast iBeserker, they ALL b-line right for me, like 8 risen. Really have to drop snares and having a cripple on shatter helps.
At level 80 when you’re geared up and have all your utilities/traits, and know how they synergize… it’s fine.
I think shattering illusions is fun because it adds another level of depth to the game play.
I don’t think playing a non-shatter mesmer is a viable build because by the time you burn through all of your weapon skills so they’re on cooldown, you end up summoning a 4th illusion (dispelling your 1st) giving up the free dps/buff/condition you would have gotten if you shattered. Not to mention that most times they only get one attack off before getting killed by AOE.
Talking about clones vs phantasms… I mean it’s a cool idea to have the shatter mechanic change based on the type of illusion, but isn’t this class hard enough to play without having to keep track of what illusions I’ve casted and which ones are still alive. Maybe if you traited for it… I’d be all for it replacing some of those worthless 30pt traits.
