Last night a few players advertised gambling servers while I was in PvP. I know that gambling was off limits in GW (I recall the paper, rock, scissors feature was eliminated as a result) but I didn’t know if it was dis/allowed in GW2.
Why does the Toxic Alchemist event in Kessex Hills promote players to fail the first stage of the event (in order to gain more loot)?
While in Kessex Hills today the Toxic Alchemist event popped and a large group soon appeared as the event was announced in map chat. To my dismay I had to witness the attitude and remarks of a few players towards others who were trying to complete the first event – playing the game as they wanted.
Is this living up to the foundation of Guild Wars game play, the one that stresses community?
I had to bring this up because I don’t see many events where players want to purposely fail event because they think more rewards/loot are in order. Maybe this should be looked at?
I just finished reading Rob Thody’s news article about the wallet and had to cringe when I saw the word “amongst” used in the text. No offense to Rob here, I’m nitpicking on the word itself.
I’m definitely not a grammarista, but didn’t “amongst” go out of style, I don’t know… many years ago? I thought the word was only a pompous version of “among”. Truly, is there any difference between among and amongst (other than the latter is not used in every day conversation)?
I hate the word “amongst” so much that I refuse to wear the “God walking…” title.
I was wondering if anyone else felt the same way.
Does the mailbox have to be filled by player mail, or does NPC mail count to fill to 10?
I want to give kudos to the group that PUG’d Sorrow’s Embrace story mode with me today. Amazingly, it was the first time any of us had stepped foot into the dungeon. One of the groupmates commented “It’s like the game is brand new” and I couldn’t have agreed more. Add the nostalgia of Sorrow’s Furnace to that new-game feeling and it made for a fantasitc run – a great feeling I haven’t experienced in months.
Thanks teammates for the great run.
I let my kids – ages 6 and 8 – role up characters on my account. I have a great time watching them huddle around the computer playing GW2, especially when they jump into WvW. “Get the yak!” “Follow the commander!” and other lines are priceless coming from the 6-year old. The best part is when they go to bed and I clean up their inventory (they don’t know what to sell vs merchant) and find several badges collected from their fun.
If you’re truly being griefed then report it to CS. If the jokers continually do the same against other players then CS will have a history to go by.
I was redirected by Hrouda’s blog post about dungeon boss feedback, but I don’t see any organized discussion about bosses.
Since every single boss is being evaluated, should a new thread be devoted for the discussion of each boss?
Any thoughts about adding achievements for specifically for environmental weapons? I’ve see that using these weapons counts towards the weaponmaster achievements, but I’m talking about ranks that are specific to environmental weapons.
I’d like to see more people using these weapons and perhaps some type of achievement system would promote that.
In total agreement. I was so confused why canines (mostly AOE f2 skills) and spiders (mostly immobilized f2 skills) would cause cripple. Several of the canine F2 skills don’t even target an enemy because their AOE howls. Would cripple still apply to enemies?
Was going to post the same but found your post through search.
I gave up on the Clocktower map. I’m not a jumping-puzzle-fan to begin with, but I at least attempted the clocktower about a dozen times. Here are the issues that I did not like:
1) Crowd. How could I really be able to see where to jump when there were so many other characters around? It was one big clump of people, and all those people blocked the view (for me) of where to jump.
2) Camera Control. I still have issues with the camera. I like to scroll out as far as I can and sometimes the camera view changes as if it’s being bumped by some invisible wall. This gets annoying during platform jumps.
3) Boosts. I don’t know if it’s true, but I saw some people say that speed boosts would help in the Clocktower. I don’t know how crucial boosts are but I don’t see the need to buy boosts just to complete a jumping puzzle.
4) Loading Screen. I didn’t really mind the wait in the lobby (it reminded me of the wait and anticipation for some big theme park ride), but what got under my skin was the long loading screen that accompanied every failed attempt.
I know that there is a community that loves Jumping Puzzles, then there are those that love to mine resource nodes, and yet others that like the “solve” quest after visiting wikis. I think the best way to satisfy the most people at once would be to have a tiered halloween achievement system that rewarded levels of accomplishment in the subtiers, rather than the current “Emissary” title that’s one tier and includes game elements that some community members find annoying (note: game elements that were never part of the GW franchise or past Mad King events.)

I just received in-game mail advertising a gold-selling website. How and where do I report this user and/or website?
