The people who are “bored” and “quitting due to boredom” are the players who refuse to play alts, obviously don’t like achievements, and are only there for themselves. They said at the beginning that the primary replay value was the story. Each storyline has splits and branches to provide a unique experience each time you play. They also said at the beginning that end-game content was going to be a waking point to expansions in the future. If you didn’t do your full storyline yet, then you obviously have no idea what I’m talking about. Instead of ANet dealing with people griping about OP gear, they wanted everyone to have a fair chance of getting it. And now you’re griping because you don’t have OP gear to shoot for. Typical.
I’m going to clarify one thing that you should all remember and take to heart. It doesn’t matter what Anet does, Blizzard does, Trion does, etc.. to make a game that people like. You will ALL complain about not having enough to do.. not having OP gear.. and the elitists will complain that they can’t Solo a dungeon that takes 5-10 people.. (or 30-40 if you look at WoW). Why? Because people are greedy, obsessive, and demanding. Because no matter what is given to them on a silver platter, they demand more. If you get to this point, turn off your computer, and GO OUTSIDE!
Personally, the only flaws I worry about in GW2 are glitches (such as skill npc’s not showing up, events bugging out, storyline quests bugging out… and of course, my favorite, the trading post going down at random periods of a day)
My overall biggest issue/complaint is as follows: Too much of the game is account oriented rather than individual earnings. They changed dungeon tokens to account, pvp rank is account, most of the achievements are account… That’s too much stuff that is thrown on new alts to make the game less of a challenge. For example: I made a new alt and had my 1000 revives title on my alt. Someone accused me of cheating because I already had the title at lvl 1. (as we know, reviving someone grants xp. even at 5xp per revive that’s more than enough to level you passed level 1). So, there’s going to be accusations from new players and players who have yet to get that title.
The only things i things that should be account bound are your bank/collectibles access, black lion chest items/black lion purchases, dye pallet (would be nice, but not necessary)… remove pvp shared ranks, and ALL achievements from alts (aside from master craftsman, weapon mastery, and the one for more heart quests than the map has to offer). Basically if the achievement can be universally acquired.. remove it from account sharing.
Condition damage is fully effective in pve situations. I have a lvl 80 necro and love my condition damage build. 25/30/0/15/0. I’m in full Carrion and do a very nice amount of damage (scepter+dagger and staff).
PVP/WvWvW is a completely different scenario. Condition damage is not viable.. hell it’s shunned upon in most situations (with the exception of movement/healing conditions to limit speed and healing). There is TOO MANY cleanses available to remove conditions or turn conditions into boons to the point that they are utterly useless. What does this mean? It means people switch to toughness+vitality+power builds or crit+crit damage builds to remain effective. What else does this mean? Welcome to the world of cookie-cutter syndrome in pvp/wvw. So much for creativity and unique builds… so much for the usefulness of all gear… so much for “everyone is equal in pvp”.
A necromancer in WvW as a condition damage spec should just stick to a swarm of people… try to hit a target 3-5 times and keep going otherwise they’re flat out useless.
I ended up having to switch to a 5/5/30/30/0 build just to be useful. (For those who are curious, it’s a typical tanking+minion survivor build). Or, I can go somewhat glass cannon and go 30/15/10/15/0 for a little bit more crit damage.
PVE is no problem and necro’s are 100% viable… but if you’re going to make conditions actually useful, until that time comes necro’s are stuck to pure power builds.
Consume Conditions, Well of Power, Plague Signet… Still think you don’t have any condition removals?
I agree completely. The guild needs more functionality. Officer chat is handy, but not entirely necessary (use VOIP programs and save time). Announcements in-game are a huge help. Last login is a MUST! And if you’re going to allow people to represent via GW ID, allow us to see ALL alts via mouseover or click menu so we can check levels, crafting levels, etc for ease of access.
First off, you picked your race for a reason… If you want to play a new race, create a new toon. Run out slots for new toons? Save some gold, buy an expansion. It’s redundant to think they should implement something like this when you dug your own hole by creating a toon of a race you decided you didn’t want.

Or at least implement a trading system. This “trust the person you’re bartering with” system is not safe and will just lead to constant reports of people stealing items. CoD or Trading System… take your pick, but PICK ONE!
At each of the karma vendors you’ll notice signature stats for use. The build I’m working on requires Toughness + Vitality + Power as a signature combination. Here’s the catch. There is no pair of legs in game with this option for light armor. There’s this option for every piece of equipment EXCEPT the legs. So, my suggestion is as follows: Give us a karma vendor that sells this option set for legs. Change the stats on one of the legs to match this combination and all is well.
