I got one today, so I changed both my email password and GW2 account password.
Do you have problem starting GW2 immediately after rebooting your Mac? If it doesn’t launch, run GW2 through Terminal then type the following:
/applications/guild\ wars\ 2.app/contents/MacOS/cider —use-dos-cwd C:Gw2 -- C:\\GW2\\GW2.exe
(Assuming your GW2 is installed under applications)
You will see error message if GW2 won’t launch.
I have been having the same problem since the last patch. I’m trying to get my tournament achievements done but it is hard to accomplish that when I get dc’ed every time I’m in a big zerg match and get booted off wvwvw or EotM. I don’t think it can be blamed on my computer because nothing has changed and it was playing the game just fine until the recent updates.
My friend has had this exact problem before on Windows, so I’m not sure if it is a Mac Client issue. I am having this black screen problem now. It happened to me at random times, like double clicking on a mini pet etc. I’ve reduced my graphics setting to almost all “best performance” settings and will see if I can stay on.
Thank you for the response and tips everyone. The other night I suddenly started having the tg something something download and mouse camera problem. So I followed some of the tips posted on Mac forum, and the game wouldn’t launch anymore. Then my partner worked some magic and everything is okay now. lol
I try to log off using Command + Q now, and that seems to let me log off the game without logging off my mac. But I still see that there are error messages about game crashing and my mac seems to sit there pondering what to do for a couple of seconds, which never happened before. I will try checking the temp after a long session and see if that could be causing some problem.
I was in WvWvW and during combat my keyboard 1, 2, 3, and 4 stopped responding. At first I thought it was skill lag, as the skill icon I am trying to cast lights up but wouldn’t go off and my character does not start spell cast animation either.
Other keys and key binds worked just fine. This has happened twice so far and each time I had to relog to get rid of the issue.
Has anyone else had this problem?
I’m on 27" iMac, Mavericks.
When I log out of the game (either log out or exit to desktop), sometimes I get logged out of my mac account as well. Has anyone had this issue? It doesn’t always happen, and it is not a big deal but I’d love to know if there is any solution.
I am shuddering at the thought of ascended armor coming into the picture on top of this.
It costs 190g to go from 400 to 500 weaponsmith.
It costs 203g to go from 400 to 500 huntsman.
It costs 215g to go from 400 to 500 artificer. That’s the cheapeast way to do it.
Looking at the numbers, I am thinking “maybe I should sell all the mats I have on TP and buy a legendary”.
You get all you need by playing the game, not sure how that’s a grind. 500 Dragonite ore? that’s 25 Meta events, or 5 days MAX. There are cheap ways to get to 450 crafting AND you can sell the items made at that level.
I’m doing things I’ve never done before to get my Asc weapons, having a blast and have not seen this “grind” you speak of.
Not to mention, you don’t need to have these weapons. It’s a personal choice to go for them, just like Legendaries.
Actually, playing casually means lack of mats to get to 500 to begin with…it takes stacks of ori ore and ancient wood, not to mention tons of ecto, all of which cost a ton of gold if you decide to buy off TP, which casual gamers don’t have. You may say that “ascended aren’t for casuals”, but what OP is worried about is the increasing disparity in gear level between casuals and hardcores, making this game become just like any other; “it is about how much gold and time you spend in game, not your skill”.
And remember, legendary used to be just the same stats as exotics, and exotics are super easy to get compared to ascended. Now the legendaries aren’t just cosmetic with the stat changes on the fly feature, yet it is not account bound. You can buy a legendary but you have to level crafting to max to get an ascended…it is an interesting choice ANet made, and I don’t think it was the best choice they’ve made.
I am very disappointed to find out that the crafted ascended weapons are account bound. I was going to level my Artificer to 500 so I could craft an ascended weapon for myself and my husband. My husband doesn’t have a lot of time to play the game, so I was planning to farm the mats for him. Now that I know gifting an ascended weapon is impossible, I have no incentives to level my crafting.
As a casual gamer, it is way too time consuming and expensive. I’d thought that legendary weapons were for those who are truly dedicated to the game, while exotics can be gotten for little effort comparatively, and ascended somewhere in between. Now I find that ascended weapons are almost at the legendary level in terms of how much time and effort must be invested. I am afraid that if I attempted to farm all the mats just to level one crafting profession just so I, and only I, could benefit from it…I’d lose interest in the game as a whole. Like someone said, the game will turn into Farm Wars 2.
I know that ascended weapons can drop from champions, so hopefully we will get one, one lucky day. Or maybe they will make them available through the laurel vendor like they did the trinkets. Crossing fingers….
I just want to throw my 2 cents here…
I used to run dungeons all the time in another MMO because I had to. Sure, I could choose not to, but then I would be behind in gear progression compared to my raid mates etc. So it was not an option to skip the dungeon grind. It was boring. Same thing over and over for months…it wore me out.
When GW2 was announced, I got excited because it promised I wouldn’t have to do what I don’t want to do to enjoy the game. The game had been delivering on those promises…until the new Fractals and Laurels kicked in. Here comes the familiar gear grind and the “you have choice but not really” deal again. I ran Fractals, didn’t care for it much and the prospect of having to run them over and over to get some gear put me off; but I did it to get the monthly done. It wasn’t fun. When laurels came out, I was excited because now I didn’t have to run fractals to get ascended gear. I was extremely disappointed to know that I had to run dungeons. I have been to a few dungeon runs but none of the runs were fun for me. A few elitist jerks in my runs didn’t help it either.
You say you don’t have to do monthly if you don’t want to? Monthly awards you 10 laurels! That’s 10 days worth of dailies. That’s a lot of tokens to give up. We have a choice…theoretically…to ignore the monthly, but when the reward is something we really want, do we really have a choice? There is a lot of pressure to get the monthly done. It isn’t a simple matter of “don’t do it if you don’t want to”. When the game starts to make you feel like you “must” do something because you “want” something…game becomes a chore, a grind. It is already starting to feel this way. Such a pity, because I have been loving this game otherwise.
If ANet really wants people to “just do what you love doing” and still not be penalized for it, then they should bring out real options sooner rather than later. “Complete 5 out of 7 choices to complete monthly” would be wonderful. I’d gladly skip fractals and dungeons because I really love this game but really hate having to do dungeons over and over. Been there, done that.

I also have been having the lag issue since last Sunday evening when my computer froze completely in fractals and I had to hard reboot. Since then, whenever I am near a small group of players or large structure with a few NPC’s in WvWvW, I start to lag. If I am near a large group of players, I lag horribly and can’t see them even though I can see the red circles of death on the ground. By the time I am down on the ground begging for mercy, I may or may not see the closest 2 or 3 player’s legs stomping on my downed body. I also experience cracking/popping noise in high activity areas where everyone is shooting things every which way.
I have contacted Support and I was told to do a bunch of stuff on my end like trace route but no definitive answer yet. I had no issues until this weekend. At least I am glad to know that I am not the only one in this.
I saw this too and there was a group of players who were just sitting there attacking players from our server. They sat there teasing us for maybe 10-15 minutes, while their server’s other players went around taking our other resource nodes. They would run down the hill to bait us, then run up the hill and shoot at us. I put up my projectile reflect spell up and that seemed to damage them sometimes, but everything else would return “invulnerable”. One particular guild had multiple members camping here at one point, and one particular player was spotted roaming around this spot for hours. I’d say that’s exploiting.
I have seen the same, both on Mac Beta client and Windows client.
Yep online!
Same issue here in Ohio! Just bought the game this weekend actually, kinda sad now.
Well I have been playing since Beta and this is the first time I have had this error, so it isn’t like this usually. Hopefully it will get resolved reasonably quickly.
Has everyone submitted a support ticket?
Maybe this is an East Coast thing? Anyone from West Coast having the same issue?
Hailing from Nova Scotia over here!
Did someone trip over the cable?
Same problem here. I was playing the game just fine this morning, and when I came back from dinner, I couldn’t log in. My husband on the same network but on a different computer cannot log in either.
