Thanks for starting this thread Leona. Although, I have noted that there are a myriad of opinions on the matter. I myself loved this game from the day it started and everyone on our server which is Ferguson’s Crossing, totally enjoyed the process of making our server a community. When we started WVW we had so much fun using our wits, intelligence and skills to win one for the gipper. We even took pride in being one of the first servers to use the 50 man golem rush. We never had enough people to be at the top of the tiers but we were ok with the middle and sometimes below that. Then all of a sudden the slide started. Server populations changed, guilds wanted to move to a server that was in the upper tiers. Those of us in the middle found ourselves in the bottom tiers. So when the poll occurred, a lot of people voted to try it out as a possible solution. Another possible solution of merging the bottom tier servers never happened. We were so shocked after the change to see that our server name wasn’t even or ever shown as the host server. It was as if we were wiped from the face of the earth. I believe these new zergs or blobs are used for the player power and to control the players, mostly by the host server. It is very difficult for roamers as they have no defense against the zergs. There were a couple of pairings that were good and we started to make more friends and then the rotation changes and you find you are in a new match killing some of those new friends. I feel that those who downplay the problems are probably those that move from server to server trying to find the best way to get to the top or they have always been in the top tiers. Those that stayed with their servers will understand this post.
I can say with experience that the majority of the time lately I have landed in an overflow with no events and it has been within 10 minutes of the event notice. I usually have to hope that one of my friends made it into the event and I ask them to add me to their party so that I can join them in the event. It has been very frustrating to say the least. I am just happy that I managed to finish the meta achievement early on in the patch.
This is the response I received to the ticket I submitted about this problem:
“Thank you for contacting our team about a game issue that you experienced with the Discovery panel. The Guild Wars 2 Development Team is aware of this issue and team members currently are working on addressing it. Please keep an eye on the official forums for any future updates and announcements regarding Guild Wars 2. "
Hopefully it will be taken care of by the next patch
I understand why they decided to change the matchups for wvw but it isn’t working. I am in one of the lowest populated servers, Ferguson’s Crossing. Every week we are put against higher populated servers that just run us over in wvw. It has gotten so bad that people are moving out of Ferguson’s Crossing to the higher populated ones. My guild does a lot in wvw and we even have a designated night that we all participate. You will usually find a few of us with a presence there on any given day. We love the game but it is just not a fair fight. It is very frustrating and depressing. There must be a better way to make the matchups more even.
They added a couple of wps since the last patch and you may have already had 100% on a map prior to that. I had to go back to a map and add the new wp. So you might double check each map for the 100%
I too received no chest at Tequatl two days in a row. The first time I did come late but battled at least a few minutes before it died. The next day I was there when the dragon arrived and battled it the whole time and still no chest. Server: Ferguson’s Crossing, Lvl: 80 character
