This has been bugged for 9 months, but it’s even more annoying now that the new Achievement panel has a “Nearly Completed” section and the bugged achievement is just sitting there taunting me, lol :p
I am also stuck on 82/83 in the Achievement panel, while the Hints panel shows checkmarks beside all the hints.
Just wanted to post some observations I noticed about this bugged event after investigating this weekend:
I don’t think it is bugged on all servers yet, but it likely will be be eventually. Before the last server reset, it was bugged on most (possibly all) servers, as you can see from the earlier comments in this thread.
If you “fail” the first fight of the event [Defeat the Risen Priestess of Dwayna] it does not reset everything. By “fail” I mean that everybody dies and stops coming back, not that event actually pops up as “Failed”, because that doesn’t seem to be possible currently. If the fight had been pulled into Historian Vermoth, the thralls that are summoned by the Veteran Risen Acolytes and the Veterans that the Priestess spawns do not despawn even if no players are around. Instead, they just attack Historian Vermoth forever and since he can’t die (he keeps regenerating health when runs out of health), this just keeps going. I don’t know if this is a bug or not but it seems odd. I personally saw him stay alive for several hours on my server (I didn’t watch the whole time, but I can back a few hours later and it was still going on).
What I think may be happening is that eventually, possibly due to some server hiccup or something, one of the thrall’s attacks kills him before he can regain some health and he dies and is removed from the game and never comes back until a server reset. I haven’t witnessed this happening, but from what I’ve seen, it seems like a good bet.

Yep, bugged again on Borlis Pass.
It worked for a day or so and then stopped working just like after the last update.

Servers were updated and restarted, but there wasn’t anything in the release notes about fixing this event, so unless they just didn’t mention the fix in the notes, it is likely to bug out again. I’m not sure if the devs are aware of this problem, but if anyone is present when it bugs out, try to get as much detail as possible and post it for the devs to see.
It appears to be bugged on several (if not all) servers. It was bugged on my server and two more that I guested on to check. It’s stuck in the same place on all of them, with the statue having a green health bar and no NPCs around.
I haven’t seen a developer response acknowledging it, but hopefully they know about it and are working on fixing it soon.

Just a quick note—I said the odds of it dropping was closer to .005 than the 1 in a million or so that was tossed out. Those aren’t the exact odds, but if my math is correct, 10 players running the event every day might expect one staff to drop after about 7 months. (And we haven’t been out that long.)

i reckon the Lore is part of it, they managed to tie simple things like emberspire to flame elemental in thurmanova and wisteria from jungle worm, they are bound to of tied a very rare weapon to an event meaning something, i read all the dialog from Zho’Qafa and am now pretty certain its that, i would even place a bet that when found the dialog changes! they come out and say we didnt find anything etc and that at least they killed a king, who says who dares awaken me from my rest. and if the rate is .0005 then it means it needs to of been done at least 200’000 times, ive done it maybe 20 times lol,
I was thinking Zho’Qafa too, but the “unique spawn” comment makes me think twice. That all depends on what he means by “unique spawn” though, as I mentioned in my last post: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Final-Rest-Current-Theories/page/12#post1469803
So what does “unique spawn” mean?
I would think that it would mean a monster that is not anywhere else in the game world except for the event that spawns it. I wonder if that mean the Eye of Zhaitan that you kill in Zho’qafa is “not unique” because there is another Eye of Zhaitan in the world (in Malchor’s Leap).
The issue with the dragon chests should only effect people who park characters at dragons and don’t play them anywhere else. Is this what you are doing?
So long as you play the events you should be fine to park characters in a given area.
Can you clarify this a little more? There have been many people wondering why DR is occurring in dragon events in this thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Dragon-chest-bugged/first and maybe you could shed some light on the situation.
From my experiences, since the last update, whenever I do the same dragon event twice on the same character, I get DRed and don’t get a chest, regardless of how much time has elapsed between dragon kills and regardless of whether or not I play (and do events) on other characters between dragon kills. For example, if I were to kill a dragon before going to bed and then come back the next day and log into the same character and kill it again, I would not get a chest.
Is this the intended behavior? It certainly doesn’t sound like (in this case) DR is fulfilling its role of “safety net system for exploits”.

I just had this happen to me as well after killing the Shatterer. I noticed the reduced event XP/karma and got no chest, despite getting gold for the event. It does appear that DR is incorrectly triggering as there is no way I should have been anywhere close to DR. Hopefully they sort this out quickly.
I think the way to get people out of such “stuck” situations is that someone outside makes a portal entrance as close to the obstacle as possible, and the stuck player should be close enough to that entrance that he can activate it. LoS isn’t checked for that.

Except the gun doesnt work at all if you’re inside the cage, tested yet.
Yeah, I couldn’t target enemies or select anything outside of the cage, you are cut off from everything, portal gun doesn’t help. The easiest fix would be to simply have the cages open when the boss dies.
We had a dungeon-breaking problem with the cages as well in this fight. As the final boss was very low, he sent me to the cage, and then about second later went down to 0% health and dropped the hammer. After he went down the cages become unattackable, so I was stuck in there permanently and couldn’t get out. When I was first sent to the cage, I could see the red glow on the cage indicating it was attackable for a split second, then he died and it went away and became unattackable.
It didn’t give us credit for beating it despite the seal being at 0% health. I was locked in the cage and stuck in combat and couldn’t die so we couldn’t even restart from the checkpoint. Sadly, it was our last fractal too.

I just wanted to add an update to this and mention that we are still experiencing some issues due to these number changes that haven’t been resolved yet. In some cases the number has been updated, but in other cases it has not updated and will not update (i.e. when you add the account name with the new number it shows up as the old number on the contacts list). We have been removing and re-adding to the contacts list every few days in hopes that it will accept the correct number, but it hasn’t in some cases.

I agree, this is an issue if it’s messing up in-game mails or communications. It was my understanding that the system would know about the change, and that you would be communicating with the right person even with the wrong number.

To follow up on this, I just joined a group with some other players and asked one of them which code they saw after my username, and sure enough, they saw the old one (1978) instead of the new one (1980). So it sounds like people grouping with me or adding me to their contacts list will be have trouble send me mail and such. Just wanted to update you, thanks again!

My brother and I are also having the same issue. We both started with the trial and bought the game last night and added the key to our existing accounts, his number increased by one and my number increased by two (from 1978 to 1980). In game, we see our numbers as the new number, however whenever someone adds us, we show up as our old numbers on their list, and consequently any mail addressed to our old number gives them an error saying “unable to find recipient”. As a workaround, we can address the mail to our character name and it sends fine, however, I am uncertain if people who add us in the future will see us as our old number or new number.
