Thanks for all the feedback folks, the general consensus would appear to be, don’t bother getting better runes/trinkets for tanking cuz it won’t help you any. I was planning on doing this for the P/P/C armor set but from what people are saying, it sounds like it might be worthwhile getting berzerker set in order to run it, at the very least, it’d probably be wothwhile getting P/P/C trinkets for it. I did already buy a bunch of +endurance recharge food in preparation for this because I’d seen on youtube about how much dodging is necessary with alpha.

I have been doing a fair bit of Twilight Arbor for a +healing armor set as well, so I’ve been getting in the habit of spending most of my time dodging with the nightmare vines where they are spawn lots and lots of AOE circles, and the same goes with Malrona but I struggle a lot with Malrona because of how quickly her AOE kills you, which sounds a lot like how CoE is gonna work out.

Thanks for all the advice, especially the P/P/C advice, thats the last thing I expected to hear!

I’m looking to start doing CoE at some point for the armor set, I’ve read in numerous posts that it’s insanely hard on account of being one-shotted and other issues involving lasers and frozen in blocks requiring teleport skills.

However some posts say that they can’t understand why people are complaining, it’s simple and straightforward etc, so before I start running it on my guardian, from a survivability standpoint, what armor stats and rune set is recommended for CoE to stop myself dropping as soon as the mobs sneeze on me?

I’m currently using the melandru temple set (mainly vit/tough/power) and the superior rune of melandru set on it.

Not getting any Badges of Honor

I understand the people who post about hardly having any badges, I have just over 50, 45 of those came from doing the JP despite spending roughly a third of my total game time in WvW.

The problem is not down to the drop rate but the game mechanics regarding WvW, as somebody mentioned whether you get tagged on a drop is down to how much damage you did, hence why I hardly get any, my traits, armor and weapons are specced for healing not damage output.

You’ll probably find the people who get the most badges have exotic armor, weapons and trinkets with power/precision/crit (berserker) bonuses and have traits that also boost damage output and crit rates.

Healers (like myself) and tanks get screwed over under the current mechanics which are unlikely to change any time soon, since Anet is focused on the more crucial issue of making WvW teams more balanced. In myopinion, they should be placing a dynamic player cap on each map which is based on the team with the smallest numbers to stop them being massively outnumbered, unfortunately Anet’s approach is to wait for the tiers to stabilize in the hope that the tiers we eventually end up in are balanced, until we reach that stage, which is gonna be weeks (maybe months), other WvW issues aint gonna see much development.

I’ve only been playing since Christmas so apologies if my view seems stupid here, I play on SBI where during Christmas, we were doing relatively well but once the holidays were over, we didn’t have the numbers and dropped a tier after getting beaten by Jade Quarry. After that, we were losing badly to Sanctum of Rall, so several guilds left our server to join Sanctum of Rall so they could win resulting in us being massively outnumbered and players ditching WvW totally because it was pointless, SoR owned 95% of the resources virtually all the time, now we are fighting Yak’s Bend and Crystal Desert and yet again, we are bottom of the scoreboard, I don’t know how many months of falling we have to do before we end up in a more balanced tier but, wouldn’t it make things more balanced in all tiers if the player cap on each map was 120% of the side with the smallest number of players? That way if YB had 50 players on the EB map, both of the other teams could have no more than 60 players on that map (they would join the queue system) but they can always go to one of the other 3 maps if there’s space until the smallest team gets more players join, then that 60 man level cap would increase proportionally. This would make it so that you can still outnumber a side but not massively outnumber a side.

While that is certainly an option, the one problem with that is timezones, a server may be busy in a specific zone during day but not night which is where live numbers from the server would be helpful. I eventually found that tarnished coast is very busy in the cursed shore zone

Hey everyone,

Maybe this has been addressed elsewhere, but from reading various forum posts about event chains in Orr, it would appear that different servers seem to get zergs for different event chains. In one post, I saw that people farm the chain in Straits of Devastation, on SBI however,I never seem to see more than 3 people there, the only temple that ever gets liberated is Arah for the dungeon farmers. As for zergs, they all seem to hang out in Cursed Shore farming the 2 camps connected by a tunnel that get attacked as part of events.

Since I want to get the exotic armor from the vendor in Temple of Melandru, I’m looking to guesting maybe for a way to switch to another server that is active on that event, maybe in future, when guesting, it would be possible to list which zone on a server has the most activity or be able to get a list for a specific zone and show what the current population is in that zone for each server individually?
