This matchup is a lot more fun then last week for sure, just having a new server around really does change a lot x.x It’s like a Twilight bargain sale with some of the CD guilds rofl

I was just thinking this. I was having more fun last night then I have the last few weeks.
I had a lot of fun on my little asura ele tonight. First, in FABL we fought back and forth outside our spawn up to the keep north of there, green-something. it’s late and my mind is tired.
I jumped over to EB to see how things were going there. Got in some decent battles once again. Fun times all around.
I handed out my share a badges tonight, as usual
sadly, I won’t be on for the finish of this one or the start of next weeks matchup. I’m having my gallbladder taken out and will not be up to playing for a few days.
/salute to FA and YB. You both are able to put up some good fights (my opinion, of course).
Good luck with your surgery. Hope you heal up quick and feel better soon!
For the record I just want FA to start defending in the Eternal Battleground so that I no longer have a reason to prefer them over Yak’s Bend.
FA did a hell of a job defending QL last night. That place was a death trap…. even after we had two walls down, and a treb setup to clear siege from inside. When we rushed it that second time, I couldn’t believe how much siege was still left inside. Impressive defense!
Fun times in EB last night, and WvW overall. I am thankful that I can login, get into WvW, and work with the awesome people on TC. That is the reality of WvW… not the drama that goes on here. The drama that goes on here, has zero impact on actual WvW. It is 100% irrelevant. The sooner people realize that, the faster these threads will improve.
The people I play with are the reason I keep coming back to WvW (I’m usually not a PvPer). Love battling next to my guildies and some of the other cool folks we play with. It’s what makes it fun for me. The camaraderie is great!
Excuses for why FA is being constantly tag teamed (whether intentional or not)
Week 1: Well, FA, you took the lead on the weekend so naturally TC and YB are going to go after you at the same time.
Week 2: Well, FA, you’re in second place, so you are the bigger threat than YB so TC will attack you constantly and YB does it because they want to be in 2nd.
Week 3: Well, FA, you have a weak defense and are last in score, so naturally we’ll both be opportunistic and go after you at the same time…we like the challenge. ;-) (sorry, just had to with that last bit)
You know “losing” is fine, but it’s the smugness of the top team(s) that rubs the wrong way. Hasn’t anyone looked at all the match ups and the top team is almost always posturing, “We’re just better players than you and you are horrible. You can learn from US”
You occasionally see the few outwardly honest ones the verbally acknowledge that this is ultimately a numbers game, and they who have the most numbers typically wins. When you add in skewed tag teaming (where one team is the main target more than any other), obviously the coverage and defense of the one in the middle is going to be awful, especially after 2 1/2 weeks of it, where players are burning out and not logging, leaving an even bigger numbers gap.
I don’t enjoy the smug assertions that TC is just superior in every way, and that’s why the whole pointing out that FA is being double teamed started…NOT because people thought it was a conspiracy. FA was basically pointing out that its difficult to defend on two fronts, but someone started the whole “conspiracy” scoffing and it rolled down hill from there. (Since then, there have been a few instances on TC’s part that it was obviously intentionally done, probably just to rile up more drama on here but really displayed poor taste on their part).
The posts I DO enjoy are the more honest ones, and the ones that people are doffing their hats to their opponents in their 1vs1 duels, win or lose. In fact, when I started playing WvW about a month ago, when I saw posts like that, it impressed me very much and made me think what a mature crowd this was.
I’m quickly being disillusioned.
To those few TC that have come on here and been gracious and honest, my hat is off to you. You are great sportsmen.
To YB, I have to say, I was proud of you guys, seeing you getting out of your comfort zone and actually making a serious push into TC this morning. It was quite refreshing to see. Way to go!
I really enjoyed this. Thank you.
I’m actually VERY proud of FA in how long they held the castle while being attacked on two different sides at the same time. It’s no mean feat, especially when your forces are strung out and you are facing two big zergs, caught in the crossfire.
There really wasn’t that many people in SMC holding it. It probably seemed like it, but there wasn’t.
To the defenders that were there, awesome job!
I’m pretty new to WvW (in fact, I was a bit confused when they did the server switch to YB and ET because I had no idea what was going on), and I only started maybe a week or so ago. I’ll be the first to admit I’m not the best player. I like to play in groups because there’s some protection with better players, and I make good bait.
I oddly thought that I’d find plenty of FA players to group with on the weekend that the switch happened, but to be honest, I had a hard time finding a group of FA, but everywhere I went I ran into large groups of YB, no matter what map I hopped to in my search for an FA group. I ran into a few small FAs, but nothing sizable.
I’m pretty sure YB had the numbers in the beginning, and there was no way that was the same group that I was running into within a small amount of time of each other on different maps.
They would spot me, this lone FA searching hopelessly for herd protection, and the zerg would descend upon and savage me like the Walking Dead on a Star Trek red shirt. They didn’t even leave the bones.
Needless to say, I had excessive repair bills that was draining my already meager coin purse.
On the days I got to play with DB and Mag, I didn’t experience that sheer volume of players. Sure I’d get unlucky and run into some smaller zergs of them while running around learning the ropes, but not like I encountered map hopping on that first weekend with YB.
Just figured I’d throw out my experience there as I tried to seek the FA herd.
I have to say, at the beginning of the thread, I was rather impressed with the spirit of the game. Servers congratulating servers and tactics. I was thinking, “Wow, this is a grown up game. No big egos and talk of pwning or morons.”
Right before the match change, I was whispered to by a Dragon Brand (I was a bit shocked he could do that, because I didn’t think you could talk to opposing factions), and he asked me a question that stuck out.
That question was “Who do you think is more annoying, DB or Maguuma?”
My answer…“Neither.”
This is a game, and the point of the game is to harry each other and hold the points. It wouldn’t be much of a game if you didn’t. I’m still learning, and my hat is off to those who have displayed good sportsmanship.
Sure, I get frustrated, too. After all, I’m a bad player and I die a LOT (on a class that someone told me was OP, to which I said something along the lines of only if you’re good at it and I’m bad). Running back to your position when you die without much in the way of speed buffs can get old when you die that much.
The fun is in the play, so play and enjoy yourself.
FA actually did pretty well during the day, and had all of their map and most of EB and a smattering of others. Then toward the afternoon it started to ebb off. I was there for a lot of the day, and fought in a lot of the battles.
