Specifically, Ranger needs a re-work on the entire pet mechanic. The F-key mechanic for many classes is currently weird, being hugely important and constantly used for some, but way underused for others (Rangers and Mesmers depending on spec come to mind, also some Necro builds).
Rangers should have to babysit the pet, but in turn their control should make the pet strong. Being able to make the pet dodge would be huge in this regard. Having a signet which’s passive it is that the pet dodges when you dodge would in turn allow players not willing to micromanage it a a certain amount of automatic pet control at the cost of a utility slot (active gives the pet Protection + Stability + Regeneration).
Engineers are overall a good class, but have too many abilities with questionable uses. Most importantly Gadgets, Turrets and the Mortar need some reworking, as does the Grenade Kit because it’s all-roundedness eclipses other kits.
Warriors are often-lamented on the forum, and I’ll chime in: Too many goodies too passive, too many no-fail abilities, too many automated things. Too much control for how little input is needed for defence, too much raw damage and too much self-buffing in PvE. Warbanner (and all rezz skills) need a look at. They shouldn’t rezz keep lords.

As a Ranger from BETA, I am very happy that everyone else can see that we do need some extensive changes.
If they could learn to dodge instead of me playing the F3 mini-game and completely loosing focus on what’s happening, I’d be sooo happy.
And why cant I see my pets conditions/buffs unless i select them?

I dont have enough experience with other classes except warrior to be able to list those who need help, but it seems that the necro is high up on the list aswell, so i’ll put them as number 2 to help you guys out a bit.

Third slot was a tough call, between a Thief needing some love on some skills and weapon sets, a Necro needing some balancing on condition output and a Warrior needing some balancing on potential raw damage output (mostly in PvE)

Only thing I really wish is some love for the PvE Sword/Dagger thieves out there.
S/P is so good right now (Blind AoE & Evade with heavy damage on PW, plus an easy “defiance remover” with head-shot) that Sword/Dagger is pretty useless in most cases.
I just wonder , the game had been release for more than a year. But how can warrior still be the most powerful class in PVE in the game? Other classes nerfed /buffed , so that the worst class was neco →enginer to now rangers. We know the balance is based on PVP, but the most people in the game are still playing PVE/ WVW.

What a stupid thread. This game is based on different parts of content, you can’t simply tell which prof is the most kittened of all. WvW alone already got 3 different types of gameplay. Then you got spvp and tpvp which are pretty different from eachother and you got pve.
But I guess everyone is just throwing kitten out and put their own prof at #1, so:

But wait.. what? Yes, Mesmer is just kittened. A support class without much support is pretty much doomed to be left alone.
Necromancer is too easy and too op. Just get 10 necro’s, 10 warriors, 10 guardians , 5 eles and 1 mesmer and your guild is good to go.
Guardian because gaurdian just rules everywhere nowadays. I get the whiny kittening on the warrior, but I see guardian as a much bigger problem than guardian in large scale.
Ranger and engineer are pretty lame classes atm imo, but don’t really belong to large scale wvw, just as thief.

Rangers need to be worked on badly. There are reasons Rangers are hated in WvW and dungeon because every other classes do thing better than Rangers and they are not stuck with a broken pet ai and etc. Rangers has more negative than they should.
Read it on Reddit and on the forum, its time something is done to bring Rangers out of the butt of jokes.

- Awful traits mix with higher ones being extremely lacking.
- If we are supposed to be an attrition class then how about making us able to stand in a fight if we can’t escape them like EVERYONE else? If we are going to be left with low maneuverability then we need to be compensated with high durability – a DS that can be burst down VERY fast does not accomplish this, especially if the damage overflows into our HP pool.
- Consolidate siphon traits – if the Devs are constantly going to balance them on the assumption that all of them are going to be taken then just balance them as a singular entity!
- Some sort of ability to heal in DS NEEDS to be added… other class mechanics allow for this! Also please(!!!) fix DS lockout bug.

The fact that there are so many post here with a top three that doesn’t even include Necro is disgusting. Yes we all have our biases but it clearly shows that not only the Devs, but also the community don’t know how to deal with Necro balance.
