Which Profession has the best Mobility?
Thief does. Followed closely by Warrior.
thief
1. Thief
2. Thief
3. Thief
4. Thief
5. Thief
6. Probably warrior, no nvm, thief
7. Elem? nah thief.
8. Engi….errr thief.
In case you weren’t sure yet by other people’s answers it’s thief, with off-set Shortbow.
Norn Guardian – Aurora Lustyr (Lv 80)
Mia A Shadows Glow – Human Thief (Lv 80)
thief>warrior>d/d ele>ranger>engineer>guard>staff ele>necro>mesmer
at least that’s what i’ve experienced
warrior, if the warrior is not crippled, chilled.
weapon leap skills’ travel distance is drastically reduced if the warrior is crippled and or chilled while leaping (sword 2, shield 4, greatsword 3, greatsword 5, axe f1)
mesmer with blink, trait 1,200 range, blink cool down recharge reduce, followed by traveler runes +25% or swiftness from focus can have some decent mobility as well. but that is the only option they have for mobility.
the rest i not sure.
Thief
ele
engi
then warrior
Anet fix thief plz its boring now :(
Thief. There is no question
Thief
ele
engi
then warrior
LOL you put warrior under ele and engi… this was the best laugh I’ve had in a while.
land speed or “in-battle” mobility ?
“in-battle” : Thief – Mesmer
land speed : Warrior
Land speed : Thief with Warrior stupidly close behind. (( This being a concept of a point A to point B notion. Yes i have actually tested it. ))
In Combat Mobility: Thief with Mesmer a close second. Warrior and Ranger are a most likely tied for 3rd.

This. Ranger is insanely mobile in combat, which is all that matters really.

thinking on it now.
I would put rangers in a solid third, if not tied with Mesmer for second.
(does the sword AA help or hinder this i am actually curious.)
warriors take the 4th spot with Guards pushing their back.,
(Warriors have some good “ins” and some good “outs”. Guards have some good “ins” but not as many “outs” )
Escapability without anything to target, without stealth and highground to teleport to.
Warrior – GS + S/W, bulls charge.
Thief – D/D, swiftness and shadowstep.
Ele – D/D, teleport and fire GS.
Rangers – GS + S/W
Engineer with perma swiftness, rocket boots and rifle.
Thief is the king of chasing though.

Not necessarily outrun, but he won’t be able to hold you down with this particular combination
Out of combat: Warrior (if you just need to run straight forward)
In combat: Ranger (kiting like mad)
Through mechanics: Thief (the thief isn’t fast, he’s just invisible all the time)
Thief does. Followed closely by Warrior.
i love when warriors run. kind of the opposite of what the class implies.
As true as Odin’s spear flies,
There is nowhere to hide.
Thief in combat.
Warrior out of combat.
I would put rangers in a solid third, if not tied with Mesmer for second.

It is not effective. You can try in wvw to attack a rabbit and spam autoattack, as the 2nd hit is a leap. Unfortunately the range is not that great, there is an aftercast, and it only lasts for 1 second or so. If you want to use it on mobs you will be in combat. You are bette off running with 25% speed increase.
Elona Bonechill – Necro / Fionna Gymirdottier – Guard /// RoF
Mesmer with the use of portal. Didn’t you watch the Ready Up?
You’ve made the same mistake the devs did (and everybody in this thread). Are you wanting to talk about Mobility? Or Landspeed?
Warriors for Landspeed.

Yeah, trying to leap off of bunnies and such doesn’t usually end well. It can be used pretty effectively against structures, though. Burn the first two attacks in the string against a wall, turn slightly away from it, then Pounce x2 in whatever direction.
Not really worth a kitten in a “who is running the fastest” contest, but still neat.
To be on topic: Thieves, Warriors, and then probably Rangers with a good grip on Sword#2 and a Greatsword (at least while in combat.)
I love how people biasly say thief when Ross Biddle just posted [/thread].
Warrior hands down no contest are the fastest class in the game.
This is easy.
Straight line: warrior. No question about that. a GS warrior is the fastest in the game at running away
Mobility up cliffs/terrain: thief
Ele with swiftness and FGS. Best mobility.
Other than that, thief.
You CANNOT as a warrior out run a thief.
Thief is the king of chasing though.
Warrior can get away IF the thief isn’t running d/p. If it is running d/p, then nothing can escape.

Wrong the 2nd hit won’t connect and you’ll be out of harms way by the 2nd movement skill on your warrior
everyone says thief, but imho its warrior with “warrior’s sprint” greatsword and a sword as alt weapon.
Thief, but warrior is very close. Which makes no sense, warrior is suppose to have the same issue as guardian. First to go into battle last to get out.
Windows 10
Warrior greatsword units per second is 105 when used on recharge
Thief Heartseeker units per second is 150 with base initiative regen
Both profs can easily maintain a +25% movespeed buff too with either a trait, utility, or runeset, so no difference there.
Thief also has shortbow, which is also 150 units per second (can’t be impacted by move speed) and can allow them to traverse vertical terrains with pathing.
Numberes don’t lie, 150 from thief > 105 from warrior, move speed buffs impact skills from both profs.
*Pretty sure while it’s up though, Fiery Greatsword Provides the best mobility in the game.

If you’re only building for mobility and nothing else thief still wins. (Perma swiftness + initiative Regen rate of 1.566 per second when optimized for more heartseeker , withdraw and roll for initiative forward, shadowstep.) I’ll do the math later today, but if I recall correctly it’s over 300 units per second.
In terms of mobility on viable combat builds thief also wins.

If conjurer is traited, you aren’t going to catch them unless you have a fast root before they are out of range.
As to Warriors and Thieves, a Warrior can’t catch a thief, between a SB and stealth, in most cases. However, a Thief CAN catch a Warrior, but can’t keep him from running in most cases. At least if the Warrior’s running Mobile Strikes.

Necromancer is by far the most mobile class. Additional running speed AND flesh worm. And you can port to enemy while in death shroud. So good.

If you are using non-weapons skills that are not giving you initiative upon use then you’ll never achieve that regen rate. The easiest way to get that ini regen is to use SoM with Signet Use and Hastened Replenishment. Although you can keep a high swiftness uptime on a thief, you’ll be sacrificing some things to do so.
A warrior can more easily maintain swiftness uptime through banners (specifically Battle Standard and inspire) and boon duration alone. And they have access to plenty of charge attacks so if they are not the fastest ooc they can definitely keep up.
Wow. You would expect that Thieves would have the best mobility in-combat in the game with Rangers having the best out-of-combat mobility… just going off what you envision when thinking about class archetypes. Warriors you expect to be relatively slow and have few disengage options but be nearly impossible to stop: they have to walk up to you, but you really can’t stop them from walking.
From this video it seems like Warriors take mobility to the next level. That kind of disengage ability is insane, and I would assume that the same abilities can be used to engage or chase as well. I’m pretty sure that Thieves have nothing on Warriors in this regard.

Bursting a fleeing thief > Bursting a fleeing warrior (with their hp pool, armor, and healing signit ticking away). Highest unit of landspeed means nothing when you’re in downed state. Warrior is THE BEST for landspeed.
Depends on how people quantify mobility.
Warriors have the highest in-combat mobility in the game over time from weapon skills, while thieves do through utility options.
Ultimately, low-cooldown landspeed clearance is dominated by the warrior, however the thief unquestionably has the highest access to burst gap closing in the game due to utilities such as shadowstep → infil signet → steal for a 3000-3600 range instant-cast/uninterruptable teleport chain. Consequently, the warrior skills do not require a target, whereas the thief teleports all do.
Ultimately I find the warrior an overall more mobile class, especially since it can trait into allowing for movement skills to break immobilize, with easier access to extended-duration swiftness.

How are you catching a thief to burst them? Thieves are the most slippery prof in the game, only Mesmer comes close to matching them.
Capital letters doesn’t make the warrior more mobile than the thief.

I’m sorry I didn’t realize “warrior” meant suicidal. My apologies.
The first thing you’ll want to learn about combat in general is that you never want to fight if the odds aren’t stacked in your favor.
Every book on military doctrine ever written basically teaches you that in one form or another. Stack the odds in your favor or go home and fight another day unless you absolutely have to.
If you can disengage from a fight you’re losing, by all means it is the correct thing to do.
