More fire themed equipment...
Anything but trench coats for medium.
I just think fire+black stuff = a 12 year old’s idea of cool.
Very much agreed, lol… I like that it’s in there for people who like it, but dear god, there is so much of it.
The armor the sylvari is wearing looks like mostly existing pieces, it’s difficult to see much. The medium armor in the other pic looks alright, but it’s… a little on the plain side, imo… We’ll see.
There isn’t a single frost/ice armorset in the game. Or nature.
Err… All sylvari cultural armor, Twilight Arbor sets?
Something with chunks of ice or crystal really would be seriously awesome though.
Let us reskin the fire to blue at least.
SWEET GHERKIN, THIS.
I’ve been wanting dye-able fire on the fiery sets forever. I know it doesn’t make much sense, but come on… Just slap the “magiclol” excuse on it and make it so!
if we had the ability to dye the flames, would you guys still complain? ; ))

We need more Cultural Armor
The giant spiky shoulders always remind me of a 12 year old getting excited over a bad 90s image comic. I groan whenever is see the orr karma set.
I’ll crack up if Radiant armor is glowy blue kitten because the game has even MORE glowy blue kitten than fire kitten.
Ultimately, i wouldn’t mind fire stuff at all if it was genuinely kitten as opposed to some of what we have. How about:

For real. It makes at least as much sense has wearing flaming armor in the first place. I had someone talking trash about how ridiculous my weapon was when he was wearing the CoF chest… i was like “c’mon, man, you’re talking kitten when you’re wearing a hamburger grill chest plate?”
I want a blood and bone armour set + weapon. It would look really cool and different.
So like the Afflicted weapons from GW1: Factions? I think some of those weapon skins already exist in GW2 as rare products from the MF, but yes, I would like a weapon set that uses blood/bone that would fit very well with a Necromancer.
Let us reskin the fire to blue at least.
re-dye*, but yes, dye-able fire would be fun!
I have thought however, both with this new fiery screenshot teaser and with the previous molten weapons skins: “These are what CoF skins should have been”.
It’s true that they misogynists, but IMO, I don’t think it’s reason enough to cut them entirely. There could be off-shoot, secretive cliques that include women or see them as equal. After all, Pyre Fierceshot’s granddaughter trained female charr in the arts of war in secret. And historically speaking, men have shared once forbidden knowledge with daughters and wives, leading to real events in our everyday lives.
I think it looks cool but really they should start making some ice themed armor too.
Something like the armor of the Son of Svanir woman they later scrapped: http://www.theroundtablet.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/guild-wars-2-norn-svanir.jpgThis looks pretty cool, but it was probably scrapped because the Sons of Svanir are misogynists. It wouldn’t make sense to have women that were Sons of Svanir.
Still, awesome armor. I really wanted to see something like that.
Perhaps the armor sets of Lady Kasmeer and Marjory Delaqua will also become available, since players demanded so much for them.
Kasmeer’s armor looks like light type while Marjory seems like a medium type. Both are pretty cool for sure anyways.

Marjory is known to be a necromancer, though, suggesting that her gear is probably light (although they could always claim she’s just an unusual necromancer). Kasmeer is still an unknown, though.
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.
Another thing I’ve noticed in the preview shots:
Don’t expect full suits of armour.
The pieces displayed are helmet, shoulders and gloves.
Looks like doing a full set of even derivative stuff is too much like hard work for ArenaNet.
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.
Something like this maybe?
hire this guy, now, as in right now.
I’m not big fan of firey armor, but I’d definitely wear some pieces on my guardian if I could only dye the flames blue

for those that do not know, these are from Aion
Aion ,imo, still have the best skins of any game that i ever played. It is the reason i played the game for 3 years. They were so great!
Yep, they should hire the guy from Aion.
The current designers don’t have enough imagination.
I just think fire+black stuff = a 12 year old’s idea of cool.
I absolutely agree with you. And now we’ll even see more black tee-candles. Brrr … would’ve liked to see more lovely skins that focus on the armor itself and it’s texture and details and not some more ridiculus glowing and shining effects for the dull-mass which mostly doesn’t care about the small details at all.
Btw. Majory wears the shoulders from the tribal armor set which got removed from the beta and is only aviable in PvP (Masquarade) right now. I doubt it will come back this time. It ‘s a really great set for necros unlikely most of the other armors aviable right now. Maybe it’s designer quit and there are some legal issues. Or maybe Blizzard forced them to remove it because it looks to much like their shaman doctor from D3. We can only guess, they ’ll never answer that one … has been asked repeatly since release and got ignored by AreaNet into oblivion.

All the official sources that talk about it say full sets. Besides that, maybe they didn’t want to show off everything all at once, which seems likely or that they didn’t even have the complete sets finished when the screen shots were take for the promo?
And what the hell guys. First new armor sets we’ve had in the game since launch, and you’re actually complaining? Really? And it’s not even out yet.

True, but we’re talking about corrupted followers of Jormag, not just people who are being jerk misogynists. There are no “secretly okay” sects of the Sons of Svanir.
Even so, it’s not reason why we can’t kill some Sons of Svanir and jack their armor. I think icy armor would be pretty awesome : P I mean, we have destroyer weapons and corrupted-looking Orrian armor… Makes about as much sense as that.

I dont like aion, but arenanet needs to bribe their armor designers into making some sets for gw2..

Personally, I want things that look handcrafted and artistic. I really dislike weapons that are a combination of “undentifiable lump” + “expensive to craft” + “particle effects”. Volcanus and Mjolnir are the primary offenders.
Nameless Inversion/Ascension/Evasion/Ruination/Impression/Perdition/Compassion/Tactician
Guild Wars 2 will be an amazing game when it’s finished. Compare Prophecies to EotN!
I’d be willing to bet if Anet came out with a new end-game “black fire underwear” set of gear with stats better than anything else in the game, everyone would be wearing it. Heck, people would wear or equip a pine tree if it was powerful and the “in” thing.
That’s just how it goes.

kitten . That deserves a facepalm on my account.
But to be fair, I was actually thinking of rock rather than plant. The two just tend to meld together in my mind, I guess. And there is only 1 plant theme for non-sylvari still, which is an “evil purple thorns of death” (well, purple for the weapons).
I think it looks cool but really they should start making some ice themed armor too.

You don’t need female Sons of Svanir in order to have female icebrood-themed armor.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Really wish for the scholar and adventurer professions there was more “ripped” armour sets.
I really don’t like having immaculate characters for the most part.
You could easily have given them “ripped” bodies during character creation. That would likely alter the armor designs enough to make it look like they got muscle beneath that cloth and leather armor.

I think Rottaran meant tattered rather than buff. Personally I prefer not to run around in shredded garments, but am glad there is a variety out there so more people can get closer to their desired look.

That’s a whole other issue. If your character is muscled then light armor just ends up making them look fat. And for whatever reason all male sylvari with fairly normal body types get birthing hips when equipping any piece of armor. Anet seems to have issues with morphing armors to look appropriately sized for the characters.
Aion sure is a lump of kitten for a game but the concept art is downright gorgeous. I wish we could have armour like that. But if we do, please avoid modeling high heels on my lady knight, she tends to have trouble running towards enemies while wearing stilettos.

Actually it would be the other way around. Marjory is a necromancer so she would be wearing medium armor, meanwhile Kasmeer is mot likely wearing medium armor.
I just think fire+black stuff = a 12 year old’s idea of cool.
Then there must be a LOT of 12 year old kids playing this game, because half the people I see are wearing CoF armor with Abyss Dye.
Ah crap I like this armor and I’m not 12. Can someone help me mature so that I can realize how bad this armor is?

This, yeah. I probably should’ve made that more clear.

Not that it looks hideous or anything, but… I think that approach there has been more or less ‘create fancy clothes, call it “plate,” “chain,” and so on, then apply a very very faint texture vaguely indicative of that last part’. I don’t think it’s so much that they can’t do this, as they’ve decided not to. That said, I’m far from impressed by the way they’ve handled armour given that they only seem to consider when making it that it looks decent on humans and to hell with the rest.
I can’t argue with adding more skin options to this game, even if it is more spikes and fire. I like to mix and match armours according to the aesthetics i’m going for.

Marj’s is Light. She’s a Necromancer. Kasmeer’s is probably Heavy.
Both are limited to NPCs though, like Anise’s T.T

Jory’s could be medium since she’s an NPC she can probably wear whatever armor she wants and it definitely looks more like a medium armor. Kasmeer’s doesn’t look like heavy armor at all, it’s made of feathers…
I’ve seen NPC’s I’m pretty sure actually combined light and medium armour. So yeah, don’t trust their class as representing what they can do.
Same with weapons: some have weapon combos no player class can do.
Fire comes in more than red and orange, Anet.

That’s very important actually, just changing the color and adapting the particle effects can totally change the look and concept behind a certain armor set.
Fire + spikes is about as uncreative as you can get. CoF armour alone is enough considering everyone and their mother is using it.

That’s the point. I personally don’t know any mature players who like this
style of gear.
Hum pretty sure I’m quite mature (aged if you prefer) still i like having a fire themed toon (in fact my warrior is full cof expect legs with firebringer) and enjoy the fact that i can improve this effect. Now you can complain about the fact that there are not enough diverse skins ATM but the fact is that the reward system is just launching and well plenty more skins to come (especially since leg/hand/head skins are pretty easy to make).
I personally don’t know any mature players who like this style of gear.
I know plenty of mature players who like fiery gear. On the other hand, I don’t know any mature players who criticize other players’ taste in armor style.
I want a blood and bone armour set + weapon. It would look really cool and different.
You should check out the Godskull weapons. They’re bone themed, look cool, and not a lot of players use them.
All I want is for PvE versions of the armors that are currently only available for PvP.
Such as? I can’t think of any off the top of my head, but I’d love to check them out.

This set is available in sPvP but not in PvE so far:

Also some pieces of the guild armors aren’t availabe in PvE either.
That said, I know quite a few people that could be considered old geezers that rock the firey themed armor… though I know that old isn’t the same as mature (and that’s coming from someone that considers himself old but not mature in the first place)..
As a side note, I think one reason they’re not creating full sets of these armors is because of WvW. One way to try to guess which profession an enemy is is because of their armor, and these new armors will share the look on all three kinds of armors.

I’m disappointed in the new armor because they’re pretty ugly. I too, also think they should stop with the fire themed molten-COF-looking armor.
The effects on the Radiant armor skins look great though, but they’re 3 piece skins (helm, shoulder, gloves) so it’d be hard to match your other armor, it’d just feel incomplete.
Makes me kinda frustrated because I feel that GW2 is lacking in armor aesthetics and I was excited to hear that new armor was coming, only to be disappointed.

Wind, Lightning, or Light themes are what we need.
Agreed! How about a nature theme or a UV light theme? Why does it always have to be fire?? It’s unoriginal, boring and repetitive.
There are so many other themes/colours that could be used in this game with the beautiful graphics that we have.
I would also say that I think the skins and shape of armours have been really repetitive as well. Too many trench coats for medium armour and not enough dresslike designs for light armour. The Twilight Arbour set is beautiful! We need more things like that. Lady Kasmeer’s armour would be very welcome
And while I am complaining about variety…. The town clothes are generally boring and ugly. There need to be more options to go on the bottom half and dresses would be nice (think the GW1 Dwanya costume).
Thanks for reading!
