Words can’t express my disappointment that this feature wasn’t releases with the halloween patch.. how much longer do we have to wait?

I was expecting and I was disappointed, I waited two weeks for last night patch, just for this makeover kit, thinking for sure this was gonna be in it. Agree with the the post above, I’ll probably log back in when this feature it finally available. If you guys have an ETA, that would be much appreciated.

I agree, It was kinda THE highlight of expectations and hope, and all otehr changes, events, items and probebly totally awesome stuff feels completely out of interest to me after this disapointment, and I do not really feel like playing untill this has been added. It is kinda sad to lose interest in a great game for one feature not making it to a probely awesome patch =(

i really want a character re-customization as well guys but for the people that are quitting until it comes out. Thats only hurting you and youre losing out on progress/gold that can be made just because you cant be the opposite gender or your face looks a bit off. Please think about that for a second. I agree with you, it’s sounds silly and stupid that the feature of not being to change my appearances is keeping me from enjoying the game, and not playing until its available. But I had high hopes for it for a couple of weeks, just to be let down. I’m not quitting the game, I’m just not interested in logging back in, until this feature is available.

I know a particular date wasn’t given, but I was really hoping the kits would be in the Halloween update. I am having fun mining candy corn and carving pumpkins, but as I find the Halloween cosmetic offerings (rare weapon skins, town clothes) mostly a disappointment, a makeover kit would have been the highlight of the patch for me!

The fact that the kits were briefly added to the gem shop awhile ago by accident (though they weren’t ready) gave me hope that they just need some tweaking and truly are “coming soon”. Here’s hoping that they’ll sneak them in with a weekly update and we won’t have to wait until the next big update to get them!

I’m also extremely disappointed that the makeover kits didn’t make it into this update. Given the community’s response when the kits erroneously appeared earlier, I’d hoped Anet might recognize how many people are waiting for this feature, and put them out ASAP. Now I’m feeling pretty foolish for buying gems in anticipation, and without a straight answer as to when they’ll be released, I’m wondering if I should just get a refund.

I really just want to change my character’s name. That’s all I ask.

What if I’m having species identity issues?

I knew from the start Humans were the safest all-around option, but now that I’ve got an amazingly cutesy Charr – huh – in my other char slot, pardon the pun, I’d really like to go with that.

Obviously this would sabotage personal story and cultural armor, but surely there are ways around that. Like a warning label.

I would really like to change my character’s hairstyle and color. Other options would be nice, but that’s what I really want. Like others, I’m disappointed that this isn’t already in the game.

@Zzulu As much as I agree with your statement, I doubt they’d do something like that. Valve makes a killing off of the impulse buy model. I think ANet didn’t do such a great job of trying to get the same effect. Too much focus on how to get the most profit per transaction and not enough strategy over prolonged income. There’s countless forums about it, most are complaining, but there’s some good points hidden within a few.

As much as I love the gold→gem option, I think that if it’s there, people will expect to be able to use it. With the rates currently trending (it was something like 50s to 100 gems before the Halloween event started), even a 200 gem barber ticket for one visit would be a bit much. 1g barber visit for those of us who tend to visit the barber upwards at 10 times a day is extremely steep. We’d just skip it entirely, so no profit for ANet. The complaining that there is now over prices for items in BLTC would just skyrocket if they added a barber token into the mix. Another high demand item that would gouge pockets wouldn’t be a good thing right now.

All I can think about is the achievements tab in WoW that kept track of the money a player spent at the barber. My druid got up to 4.5k gold spent before I quit because of patch 4.0. That is what impulse buying does to people. Give me a 15s fee or something for hair and tattoo swapping, I’ll go to town with buying the crap out of it. I’m guessing the amount of gems spent at the GW2 barber would be triple since I could match the hair color to the dye on my gear… Sylvari just have so many opportunities to coordinate their hair, glow, and skin colors with gear. A gift and a curse almost.

In GW1 one of my guildmates was so indecisive and kept changing his gender on an almost weekly basis. It became a running joke that he had velcro genitalia that he just stuck on or removed on a whim ;p

Give ArenaNet time. They eventually added name changes and then rescustomizations to the GW1 store, why wouldn’t they add it to this store being it would be generate a very substantial revenue considering so many people would want to change their name or appearance.

Hey I just came to look into this my self last week some time they posted these up I think for like a day or maybe only a few hours. Was like only around 150-350 area gem wise it was a hair and face one. Then a full sex one. Would like to get a hold of a name one too but ya I can wait. But its kind of odd that they added last week and this week the item database had codes for the item. So where has it gone?

I just hope that Arena dos’nt imitate Bioware in SWTOR and dangle stuff like this in front of us constantly saying “soon” and never delivering.

Just adding my voice, this is something I’m excited to make use of and was hoping would be bundled with the Halloween update.

I completely fail to understand why, after Regina Buenaobra (regarding a user who bought such kit -because it was available by mistake – successfully editing his character) and other members of the staff, recognise the existence of such item, I get is kind of reply when asking about said ETA:

They either didn’t read my question, which was pretty well put, or just don’t care… at least the person who read it…

Since this thread, which is the biggest inside the BLTP topics (their bread and butter) has no reply, I have to believe they have the wrong people reading/answering these questions, because I would assume they are very interested in the potential profit of such item.

I have allways been replied to in the most helpful and informative manner by their staff, regarding several issues, and have nothing but good things to say about their support.
Only regarding total makeover kits has this been different, like it was some kind of tabu.

We can speculate that there are some terrible bugs with it, which makes little sense since there have been people successfully using it, and they have experience from GW1 where it was available.

It’s because of the complete lack of logic and high requirement of these items, that I assume everyone would be delighted to have some clarification in the form of a very clear and NOT vague reply.

Pease ArenaNet, wake up to this.

i’m at a complete loss, as to why the heck doesn’t anyone competent from arenanet reply to this in a clear manner. silent treatment is the worst thing to do to your customers, ever.

Problem is very few people actually step into action to get what they want. Nobody writes to them, just a few of us. A few more take the time to comment here, and the grand majority just read about it, but can’t find initiative in them to do anything about it, not because they don’t want it, but because most people are like that, never act.
That is why, a lot of other more important things are wrong in this world, people don’t fight for anything, they just surrender to corporate machines, don’t fight for their rights and beliefs and are basically cattle who don’t deserve to get what they want, because the world is for the strong, and they are weak….
This is obviously tremendously unimportant in this context, but works in the same rule set.
If half the people who read this thread (doing so implies some sort of interest) sent an email to support, asking for this feature, I’m certain we would already have it.
It’s not even laborious to do so, it’s so simple, takes 30 seconds…

We definately need to keep this topic on the front page of this section—the more it’s noticed, maybe the quicker we’ll get it.

At this point it looks like we’re all just being ignored, YES they’re busy with halloween updates, bugs, etc. But I think it only takes a few minutes to post a quick reply to the hundreds of posts asking for information regarding the kit (something a little less vague than the first post in this thread yet something a little more truthful than a post by a community leader I read over a month ago stating it would more than likely be in the next big update, which would have been the initial halloween one). Doubt they’ll answer so just expect to keep being ignored..

(and in my case running around the game with a nice, ugly, mushroom head..)

If the kits go live at the price they were accidentally made available at (350 gems), I’ll buy two the minute they’re released. If it’s something like 800 gems though, I’ll be sorely disappointed. More useful and fairly priced items would attract more customers. You can only buy 800 gems at a time anyway, so why not?

There’s a fine line between suggesting something and reiterating yourself over and over again into redundancy seeming like you’re spoiled and entitled to the point where you think ArenaNet should give you exactly what you want exactly when you want it.

Also, please, go to college, take a few computer science classes and come back and tell me, who is a software engineer, that “it’s so simple, takes 30 seconds.” If there’s one thing I can’t stand, it’s people who act like software development is so easy. If it’s so easy, why do I get paid so much to do it?

Maybe you´re the one who is entitled here, I did go to University.
You should go though, software engineering clearly left some education gaps, because the 30 seconds I mentioned had to do with people writing to them asking for it, it does take said amount of time.
I think I was pretty clear, but English is only my 3rd language so I may be wrong.
If you put your rage aside, you´ll take time to see how sad and out of place your comment was, since you attacked out of misunderstanding something.

I’ve yet to buy anything with real money through the gem store. You bring this in Anet and you’ll get me buying up gems like it’s going out of style.

Have to say, I’m getting pretty sick of the whole “Oh, we don’t want to disappoint you by telling you things since plans change!” I’d rather have an idea of when it’s coming out, as opposed to being left in the dark about everything.

Because I’m not going to be sitting here, twiddling my thumbs with joy and getting excited over future developments. I will get very bored and lose interest.

the thing that pisses me off the most is that we’re getting the silent treatment. by far the most viewed topic in this section, one measly reply saying nothing. it’s like they’re just trolling us.

i wrote on their facebook page 2-3 times, tweeted them 2-3 times, everything over the course of the 2 months. NADA. not even a kittening “we’re working on it, hold on” or anything.

This thread is almost 200 pages long, and we have not got an ETA, I love a good suprise as much of the next guy, but i’ve stopped playing until they add this feature, I cannot stand not having it.
