I have been trying to find green beans in bulk and according to everything I’ve seen online, they’re only sold in bulk by Albin Chronicler in Wayfair Foothills.. I did the “heart quest” (I don’t know the proper name for these lol) and when I see what he has to purchase, green beans in bulk is not an item anymore. What gives?!! I need them to discover some recipes and now it’s bugging me that I can’t :/ Anyone else have this issue?!!

From what I’ve read, they’ve revamped the rewards on these low level vendors and taken out a bunch of stuff. The green beans must be one of them.

This makes me wonder about the lemons in Metrica, also on a low level vendor.

Unless they also changed the one in Gendarran Fields, lemons should be okay.

Also, Eda in QD no longer sells apples, just a spoon. This leaves no way to buy apples aside from one at a time from Apple Jack for 16c

Apples are too confusing for new players, so they removed them from the game.

Have they potentially been moved to other Heart vendors? I haven’t checked, but while completing the new Hearts in Caledon and Plains of Ashford last night, I noticed that the new Heart vendors are selling rewards that previously used to be available at other vendors. So it’s possible the rewards are still available, but now they’re acquired from other Heart vendors.

I think it would be silly to remove the Apples from Eda though. She has an APPLE ORCHARD.

I hope so, might take a while for us to find out which though…
Had a quick scoot round a few in QD and Kessex, but didn’t find a heart vendor with these.
I checked master cook in Claypool and LA, and the karma vendor in LA, but not there.
Nothing in the patch notes either.

I think it would be silly to remove the Apples from Eda though. She has an APPLE ORCHARD.

Absolutely.

She still asks if you’d like some pie, and still claims to make the best pie in Kryta, but doesn’t sell those any more either! Just that spoon. Kryta farmers have become a strange bunch…

Oh nice. I didn’t know about this vendor. I’ve been running out to the Metrica one when I needed them.

I was going to suggest bags to OP as well. Although none are particularly great at getting Green Beans:

Tiny Icy Bag has about 3.5% chance of Green Beans
Small Icy Bag should drop Green Beans, but I don’t know the rate
Icy Bag should drop Green Beans, but I don’t know the rate
Heavy Icy Bag has about 1.25% chance
Large Icy Bag has about 0.85% chance
Small Bag of Goods has about 0.8% chance
Small Thorned Bag has about 0.45% chance
Tiny Thorned Bag has about 0.08% chance

They added a potato patch to Wayfarer Foothills. So there should be be a larger supply than before the feature patch.

There was always a potato farm in the Jotun homestead with 5 or 6 tater plants, after the main update they removed them all as well as the rich copper node in the jumping puzzle.

Really annoying to also see that they removed the 2 black lion trading post npc’s from the green zone in wayfarer’s. My favorite zone is getting castrated for newbies.

The potato node farm in Metrica Province is unchanged. The one in Wayfarer Foothills got moved from the Jotun kenning up to near the Lionguard outpost.

I noticed that the Lettuce node farm in Queensdale also vanished, but perhaps it’s moved elsewhere in the same map. Did anybody spot it?

Also, Eda in QD no longer sells apples, just a spoon. This leaves no way to buy apples aside from one at a time from Apple Jack for 16c

Apples are too confusing for new players, so they removed them from the game.

For those who look for “free” apples, I got one from a loot bag from a thief not far from the apple orchard.

And you can get 5 from buying the Chef Starter kit from the Laurel merchant for 3 laurels. But who wants to do that?

One apple from a loot bag isn’t appreciably better. RNG, time spent getting/gold spent buying the loot bags means it’s not reliable enough if you want to get apples for leveling crafting or food for your low level chars.

That was the second thing I did when I logged in on 9/9, because I had gotten my Thirst Slayer achievement up to 98%, but was waiting to see if there was an alcohol collection. It was so disheartening (no pun intended) when I saw that the ales were gone.

I would agree, of all the bags I track, Apples have one of the lowest rates out of the account bound materials- usually ~1% or less.

Agreed. Although I approve of ArenaNet efforts to provide a much-needed tutorial system but this is not something that would help in that. Even if such items cannot be used by players at that point, they would merely appear as flavor items if they are encountered before the mechanics that use them are introduced. Removing them does not improve clear presentation of game mechanics and if those mechanics are being clearly explained, having simple flavor items like apples from an apple farm will not hurt.
