@The Blue Ace – exactly why I am not even going to try. Lodestone prices make some of the exotics not even worth a go. My favorite GS skins all require a ton of lodestones.

Then there is the legendary LB which my tough female Norn Ranger won’t be getting. Honestly I felt sorry for any male character having to shoot rainbows with a legendary LB.
For me it isn’t even a case of Aesop’s ‘sour grapes’ when it comes to a legendary. Sure I don’t have nearly the playstyle to get one, but what’s available isn’t my type either. I am waiting for the Ascended weapons in hopes there is something there I can work towards and enjoy.

The concept of a big, tough, beardy Norn shooting rainbows at people makes it more appealing to me. I’m fine with folks not feeling the same, but the juxtaposition and the absurdity in it will probably result in me chasing a Legendary longbow if I ever get the precursor, rather than sell it on for something a little more conventional.

Perhaps you’re thinking of the legendary shortbow? The legendary longbow doesn’t shoot rainbows. It shoots flowers

The legendary pistol Quip not only looks horrible, it has less than ideal stats unless you PvP with it, and it shoots bubbles? Since I’m not a 12 year old girl, I’ll pass on the bubbles, rainbows and unicorn stuff, thanks.

The two pistols on that list both look awesome, and have better stats. 250 globs of ecto and 250 ori pistol frames is rediculous, but it’s a walk in the park compared to a legendary. This is definately the direction I’m taking.

And whats up with no mystic forge rifle?

While my teenage daughter might appreciate the pistol effects, seeing bubbles and flowers coming from my main hand weapon makes me throw up a little. Cute for a gem store purchase item for those of you that like that kind of stuff (I won’t talk about that rediculous quaggan backback), but I’d rather have something a bit more ‘aggressive’ for the ludicrous amount of effort that goes into obtaining it.

There are some really neat Exotics, so I’m probably going to aim for one of those rather than a Legendary. The requirements suit the amount of time I have as well, so they’re more realistic for me to work towards.

Statisitically it will. New gear will come with higher stats. This could be as soon as next weeks patch. Whilst Twighlight is a legendary it is guaranteed to keep the same stats as the highest in game and will get a stat buff. The rest are exotics and will not get a stat buff. They may or may not be better looking, but stat wise twighlight wins for its stats guarantee.

In terms of effort vs reward, I’d argue that the amount of effort required to earn one Legendary could well outstrip that needed to earn an Exotic and an Ascended weapon (to upgrade its stats). We don’t know yet, naturally, but it’s I don’t think it’s an unreasonable speculation.

Which is a fair point. There is also the fact that legendaries seem overly keen on critical damage. As a necromancer main, legendarys are currently less appealing, because precision/critical damage does not work with the build I use.

that pic of unspoken curse is the only pic on the net that i could find.. it does look huge but the the guy in the pic might just be small, hence why i was asking if someone has actually crafted it.

as for stygian, cant find 1 single pic of it online (apart from the preview), obviously not a very popular sword.

However, personally I think you’re probably right – I would bet on no particle effects for Stygian.

anyhow, i might just craft stygian and see, its not as expensive as the others as it doesnt need lodestone.. saying that, 250 each of v.claws and powerful blood isnt exactly cheap

Made Jormag’s Breath very early in the game and have been working for a long time towards Volcanus. It is a depressing journey as I lack the gene that gives people an inherent capitalist mindset and as such don’t make use of my money by playing the tp. I have about 230 Molten Lodestones and enough cores for the remainder, around 20 Destroyer Lodestones along with all else that required. As with anything in this game I simply need gold. I am becoming demoralised and tired and just pray I win the Dusk/Dawn lottery now. I just don’t have enough time in the day to finish it I don’t think, but at the same time I have come reasonably close and don’t want to give in.

I’m just waiting for Dual Pistol Mesmer so I can wield Lyss and Ilya at the same time. :P

Well it might be well suited for a Sylvari then. Or anyone that likes the disparity of a tough looking character using a ‘different’ type of weapon.
Just isn’t for me and that’s okay. I just wanted a little more choice especially since Legendary could be a year or more in the making for someone like me.
Thanks for the correction I wouldn’t want someone to be disappointed when flowers come out of longbow instead of rainbows.

I’m saving up for the awesomely cool staff “The Crossing” for my Necromancer. I am still saving things for my Dreamer bow (got the precursor in a lucky Mystic Forge creation) but seriously… The Crossing is one of the coolest weapons I have seen in a game.

^Agreed. I didn’t see disrespect either. Could of just been a ‘bad’ day and he presumed it was rude/disrespectful. Hard to 2nd guess a response like that.
Guess I won’t be making anything that requires lodestones anytime soon. I have 650+ hrs ingame and have yet to see one drop from any source.
Maybe they’ll make a recipe that includes putrid essence. I have 30 of those

Hey mate, Volcanus shouldn’t be so hard to make if you have the skill points. I’ve made calculations myself because I’ve consider making it and if you buy molten cores and destroyer cores, it would only cost up to 240g-260g so considering the price doesn’t increase with the patch. This in contrast with 400g+ you’d spend on lodestones themselves.

The only problem with this is that you need to have about 270 skill points to forge it, considering that you haven’t used any in your playtime you should have enough.

If you don’t have the gold easiest way to achieve this is doing cof path 1 over and over for cores/lodestones/skill points and gold, should take about a week if you put a few hours to it a day.

In your case though I would sell the lodestones and just put a cheap buy orders for cores.

WvW is also a decent way of getting skill points, with all the events and crazy amounts of experience being tossed around. Not as good as dungeons, but once you hit DR, it’s a decent backup plan.

I was after bolt for a while but over a few months of building up I realized something. with my game time i’d be waiting 2 years to be even close. so I turned to more realistic skins, like jormag’s breath. Just as fancy if not more and it will go nicely with my ghastly grinning shield I bought for 20g during halloween (best investment I’v made yet)

Those Lodestone were made from cores so I just have enough skill points for the remaining Molten conversion. It would take an awful long time getting another batch of Skill Points for the Destroyer ones so it is easier just getting the gold I feel. I am pretty close now probably about 30g short!

I remember the days when 800g was enough for me to farm for Sunrise…

Now it is hardly enough for a precursor and some mats + ectos.
This will be the first outrageously priced precursor I ever bought.
