Nah i just spam cof now..
It’s like they want everyone in CoF…
nah, they don’t care about players anymore, which is kind of strange. They toned down the curse shore ccfest before so it’s not as annoying, now they are buffing up mobs damage so it one-hit everyone…
i think they fail to realize that not everyone in on Cursed shore is wearing full exotic, some of them are freshmen lvl 80. Plus all that pve culling, do you expect them to dodge or stand there and take the damage?
gg anet, you just killed Cursed Shore again.
If they disabled culling and allowed us to turn off spell effects, it would at least be fair, because then we could see the enemies, see them charging their skills, etc.
Being 1-shot by an enemy you can’t even see isn’t fun.
Did anyone even ask for Cursed Shore to be buffed? I seem to remember the requests for higher event scaling were for the Frozen Maw, Jungle Worm and other low level bosses.
If it isn’t CoF the devs don’t really want you doing it. They don’t even bother hiding behind a DR system anymore, they straight up just add super powerful enemies that have a 0% chance to drop loot and remove the enemies that do drop loot.
we should ask Colin and his team to form a 30+ zerg and do these Orr temple events…maybe they will see how ridiculous these events have became since the patch.

It is very unlikely they actually tested these changes before implementing them. Especially considering how unskilled at the game the QA testers are… some of their highlights were:
1. Before launch they couldn’t successfully complete explorable mode dungeons. They said they were tuned to be super difficult and they weren’t good enough to complete them.
2. More recently, they stated they were unable to successfully complete some of the guild challenges because they were so challenging and required perfect coordination and teamwork.
So yeah… it is almost a certainty that they did not test these changes because they aren’t skilled enough to complete them.

Source please, although these claims do sound fairly possible.
GW2 really just needs a test live server, like nearly every other MMO has for fairly significant reasons. And don’t give me the b******t response of they can’t afford it because not pay2play, because they darn well can afford it, or if they wanted to be stingy they could convert a server from each data center into a test live server.
Is it me or did the undead in cursed shore get hella buffed? I’ve never seen people wipe at penitent camp or shelters and I’ve been doing it since September. Now it happens all the time since the April 30th patch. My armor is 3000 and hp at 19.5k and “unkown hit you for web pull 1,500, 3,000, 2,100” in just a couple seconds. And I’m usually the last to get killed.
I think someone at Anet missed a decimal point some where. Even the bloody chickens are op now. Anyone notice decreased drop rate for the heavy moldy bags? I’ve have really, really bad luck of the drop rate fell to about 8 bags an hour.
Drop rate about bag still good but mobs….. like hell.
Veteran/ Champ chicken throw…. wait… eggs 4 > > 7 > 13k dmg. Wthek chicken ?
Spider spawn a toon of VETERAN hatching.
It must fix soon !
Melandru Priest hit me for 48k once.
More events scale now instead of just spawning more cannon fodder for each additional player, ending up with spawns where 20 mobs die before they are visible. Its not really OP, its how the game should have been from the start. Last time I checked, 1 Orr mob didnt quite match 1 player – even veterans can be soloed without loosing any HP.

Here’s hoping it was just a bug that snuck into the code. I’m not a fan of CoF because of the players it tends to attract; yes I have a guild but they aren’t always on. I like to do a bit of farming in Cursed Shore now and again while I listen to some tunes just to take the edge off after a long day.
I never posted when I saw the veterans would spawn with as little as 5 players joined in, nor did I post when I saw that champs started to spawn after only 15 or so joined in the fight, but a spider that can hit for 15k…
O.K. I realize that you at ANet want to discourage players from farming endlessly in an area and have put in deterrents to stop just that, but for the last 3 months you have allowed a blatant farming path to go unchanged in CoF P1. I realize also that the boulders can be tough without a mesmer to port it, and the average non-dps party might take a whole 10 minutes to run it, but to not chance this border-line exploit and instead continue to buff Cursed Shore is, in a word, inane.

Events are supposed to be fun. Getting creamed by swarms of Veteren HATCHLINGS is friggin ridiculous and far from being fun. If you folks at Anet did this to discourage people from karma and gold farming at Pent/Shelt, shame on you! Do you want us to only BUY gold with gems? And only gain karma on the dailies?
Return it to how it was pre-4/30 patch and save the hard stuff for the dungeons.
I did Grenth since the patch. Its pretty bad. The spiders that spawned on Jones, well one of them hit him once (apparently even though I dropped fear as soon as they spawned) and the event instantly failed. Im not really concerned about the mobs, but Anet needs to give Jones a nice can of harden up.
My server have have tried maybe 60 times in the past few days to get this event done and every time we fail. we get past grenth and then we have to fight off the waves of mobs. Freakin champion spider and to many other vetrans spawn and its never enough to defend for 5and a half mins. like how do you do this!?!?!?! its soooo frustrating
All it takes is 1 person with aggro to bring the mobs toward the NPC and make it fail, so frustrating.
Jade Quarry – Team Savvy – #1 NA WvW Solo Guild
Best way to defeat Grenth is for 4-5 guys to push him into the far corner where the skillpoint is while everyone else takes care of the mobs. Trying to kill him out in the open tends to fail unless you have a lot of allies with nobody standing on the stairs.
Jonez needs to be harder to kill and heal himself. When someone pulls the priest over it’s a massive pain because you probably don’t have his aggro and he probably has defiant up so you can’t cc him away. There’s nothing quite like watching Jonez just stand under a mega-ice-spike that’s going to do 2/3rds his hp and not being able to do anything about it.
Edit: actually fighting the priest and defending Jonez when all he has to worry about are shades is perfectly fine, there just needs to be less chance for one person to just ruin the whole thing.

Word on the test servers .
And also they should listen to the players on this forum.
I see some amazing ideas on this forums every day. But they just go on and hit the dust
A small thing that helps that I found out Jones CAN be stealth by shadow refuge. This heals him and the mobs lose agro. If a spider spawns it should be nuked right aways, but most people just only tag.

People wouldn’t farm Cursed Shore so hard if:
1.) Money making wasn’t a major pain in the kitten to do.
2.) Mobs that actually dropped something of any value weren’t fatal in groups of 4+ (Young Karkas(to me anyways)).
3.) Vet forms of mobs weren’t frighteningly tough, so much so that groups avoid them (Veteran Karkas).
4.) There were more level 80 places to farm.
5.) Everything wasn’t so kittening expensive.
Get out of berserker or MF kit and enjoy!
I made 5g doing penit/shelter/jofast events on my guardian for an hour or 2 yesterday, and this was without selling the dropped mats or bags.
Only changes I noticed was vet chickens now do an AoE knockback, and abominations have a charging animation that knocks back anything in the path of the charge. Both of these are trivial. Seems to be a bit more pulling and stunning, but nothing using condition removers cannot deal with.
It’s not even zerker builds these people are using; it’s probably the kitten magic find gear.
Also, I’ve been experimenting with Grenth a lot recently, and it’s actually easier if you have a small team of people who know what to do.
We did it with 3 the other night, and I can even see it being possible to solo with canny enough play and the right build.
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.
Hi everyone,
We have merged the threads regarding the scaling of Orr events and difficulty to forward it to the team.
As always, keep providing us with as much feedback as possible and help us keep the discussion friendly and constructive.
Thanks for your understanding.

Love new changes, difficulty is in the right place (IMHO), even I saw increased in quality and drop rate (and my luck with RNG is non-existent) and vets “feel” like vets not just “oh, noes, another mob i need to hit 10x more to kill”.
Good job.
Added: Got back to CS to help guildies with Arah SM, and after get to clearing few last POIs I missed. First veteran I saw (iirc giant) managed downed me, adjusted tactic to match and no problems (chickens too).

It’s mostly a problem with group events. Caer Shadowfain Waypoint – there’s a group event there normally. Without added scaling after the patch the champion a) wouldn’t be immune to crowd control b) would not hit NPCs through a wall to gain frenzy c) his frenzy would remove itself d) would do a maximum of 15K damage on a person with 2400 armor. Today we tried to 3 man it to see how it goes after the patch. Immune to crowd control, hits NPCs trough walls, 1 hit downs the person with armor. We still did it, but the scaling was definitely increased.

IIRC champions do have, at least some, resistance to CC. If we are talking about same champ (one where plix chain ends) — yeah, it was tougher (5+ ppl) but still doable (and IMHO more fun), and it hits hard for sure (on PVT, 3k armor “tank” guardian) and I managed to only get down once (and that mostly to not reacting on time to evade big hit) even as he was focusing me most of the time.
As I said for vets, champions now “feel” like champions — tough and almost non-beatable

I don’t mind the change as much (except certain aspects, like Grenth being undoable due to NPCs getting one hit killed and (if you get there) 50 shades spawning right at the start if you have more than 10 people), just confirming that it did indeed get changed.
Abominations, regular or otherwise, can’t be CCed. That’s before and after the patch. If you’re saying you managed to CC the Champion Abomination prior to the patch, I’m afraid your hindsight is not 20/20.
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.
It’s like they want everyone in CoF…
On the contrary — if quality and drops are changed to what I saw yesterday (28% only MF from celestial amulet/ring), CS will be a place for me to go to get gold/mats, at least its fun and challenging fighting mobs there now and now even more profitable.

My reply was more for the crowd complaining that now its too hard
And I agree on the NPC part, they are still dying too easy and that still needs to be fixed. But changes I saw are step in the right direction IMHO.
Honestly it was okay to nerf a few events in cs but now its like we are being forced to farm dungeons. And we all know a cof path 1 will get changed soon and thats when ppl will be annoyed. They should leave the events and focus on changing the recipes of mats and such because no one will be converting tier 5 mats to tier 6 with dust selling so high. love guild wars 2 but worried about some of the changes anet has done lately.
These changes to Orr are just mind-boggling insane that I think it has to be a bug or oversight. Because there is no way Arenanet can design a system like it is after the patch and expect players to have fun with it.
I can understand nerfing the grub farm. It wasn’t an exploit but it was too rewarding.
But what do you expect when players realize that the Veteran Spider Hatchlings @ shelt take forever to kill yet do not grant exp or loot at all? And that there are so many that spawn that even a zerg of 10 will wipe?
No one will ever stay in Cursed Shore and do events there because there is no reward. Not even the temples. I don’t know where you expect these players who find the comfort to grind events (like me) to go.
I’m a farmer, but I despise Cof1. What you’re pretty much leading me to go do is Cof1 farm. And I’m not sure if Anet wants that. Even fractals or other dungeons are just not rewarding for me time. If people want to farm (no exploits), then let them. There’s nothing wrong with it.
Arenanet even has yet to acknowledge the problem with Risen Nobles, which have been around since February and halt any progression when it comes to Balthazar and Arah temples. I’m not sure if it’s a bug or if the devs wanted to make something so unrealistically hard that you have to ‘exploit’ to complete it.

I don’t even like Cof1 farm, but if they nerf that and keep Cursed Shore as it is, I can see a lot of people quitting this game. I’ve enjoyed this game up to this point, even so much as to spending up to $800 on this game. But I haven’t spent anything since December, since I’m not too happy about the direction they are taking against farmers.

I can take my 125% MF thief to CS and get less gold than running COF p1 with my warrior. I’ve been asking to change loot drops for a pretty darn long time, but it seems that not many people support what I wrote. But turn the difficulty up and people start turning up. This is weird.

yeah i hope they do listen before the fun is sapped out of us
The only problem is not enough people walking around with balanced gear.
Get some toughness and vitality and then its just fine. Content was broken before. When mobs hit so softly that zerker/glass canons can survive, that’s brokenj.
Went soloing in orr last night, did a couple events. Plan to go again tonight and see what else I can work through.
If you insist on being glassy, have fun standing outside of cof until they fix that too, and then stick to wvw or spvp where you can hide in a zerg or get on a themed team.

I don’t ever wear MF during dungeons, or temple events, but now I can’t even have the small allowance to wear it during regular Orr events?
Noooooo!
Oh, well, I haven’t did pent/shelt in a while. I’ll stay in FG sound for now. Though, now temples are hardly open, so it’s a pain to find a time when sparks are up.
Anet also needs to really consider what they built this game around…scrapping the concept of the “Holy Trinity”. They shouldn’t make content so hard that you need fully built healers/tanks/dps’ers. We were supposed to be able to to go to a dungeon/event or whatever, with any build we liked and be able to complete the content.
But it seems they are more and more pushing us towards consider the best “tank” builds, the best “healer” builds and best “dps” builds.
So Anet…I thought you were giving us a game were those words were not supposed to mean so much?
It’s like they want everyone in CoF…
It does seem that way.
Dump a load of extra vets and champs in, keep the same utter garbage loot. Fantastic idea.

Champion Risen Chicken hits you for 22,783 with Shoot Egg,
Can’t see the eggs and can’t see the chicken. Even if culling was removed, the chicken and the egg is so small that it’s almost impossible to see.
Who designs this nonsense?
I was never that big on farming but I very recently started spending more time in the Cursed Shore and have been loving it, until the patch… I don’t understand why the million vet spider hatchlings don’t even give xp, let alone loot. That’s just a slap in the face in my opinion.

Sorry but that is just wrong. The issue has nothing to do with “ehmagawd zerkers!” at all.
I haven’t been in CS since the patch, but did do those events extensively prior to it. Imo the difficulty was just right before. If this is not a bug, it sounds like a case of “fixing” something that wasn’t broken, but I’ll weigh in again once I’ve seen it. I will say this, though, one-shot kill abilities with difficult to spot tells in a sea of FX color are not very appealing – no matter where they are.
