Stay in Crown Pavilion after achievements?
I still need my Blitz completions too, so I’ll be there for a while. I also plan on throwing myself against Liadri a lot over the weekend, so I’ll help out with Blitzes when I need a break before I smash something in frustration.
I stopped doing Boss blitz. It is boring, long and unrewarding. It suppose to encourage splitting up but there is no tools to encourage it.
So I am only in the pavilion for the daily Queen Gauntlet.

I have a feeling that as soon as people get the meta, they’re out of there. I know I am. I ground if out this evening. It took a couple of hours and I promptly left. No reason to return truthfully. I feel sorry for those coming in late to this.
I finished my acheiv tonight. Went back to get my weapon skin and decided to stick around to help. A 30 minute Boom-Boom fight wore me out. I just can’t go back.

I kind of suspected that people wouldn’t be doing this for very long and got my achievement out of the way early on. I’m glad I did it.
It was fun doing it one night (I was with an organized TTS group and we were on a “gold” streak) but I don’t think I’ll be going back much.

Last year, everyone was there, massive zergs, REALLY FUN!
Then, they decreased the amount of loot, still pretty big zergs, still fun.
Now, no loot = no players. I didn’t even do all the achievments there, because they give only 1 point and I already got the meta-achievment. ANET rly takes the fun out of this game, it’s a pity!
Do you plan to keep doing the Crown Pavilion after you have acquired your achievements?
No. Why would I? Anet made sure there’s no reason for me to do so after all.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Even the achievements does not seem to be worth taking down 6 boss with millions of hp.
So I need to hurry and get my achievements. So this is the result of eliminating mindless zergs and going for coordinated gameplay that so many people asked for? Ironic isn’t it
I acquired mine in two sittings and scarpered. No intention of returning. The place is lootless in a loot-filled world.*
Too many particles in tight spaces (some places worse than others) can make my neuron-challenged brain short circuit, so I do what I need to do and have to get out. No real loot drops seal the deal on the permanent exit.
*When I say loot-filled world, I mean comparatively speaking.
The Pavilion is already empty I’m waiting for 2h and no one is there the bosses are up but no one try to kill any so if you finish the achievements already lucky you :|
Got all my AP and got everything I wanted from the event already, not going back.
Orginally I planned to stay there to get more pavillion- & basar-token, because I’d liked to get some skins. Then I realized that the droprate is extremely low and ppl are still zerging 30 min/boss and not splitting up. As long this stays that way I’ve not any motivation to come back…
I’m going to keep going into the Pavilion until I can find a bunch of people who want to try for better than bronze. Then I’m going to stay until I’m tired of it.
Plus, I’ve fallen for the Gauntlet. That’s decent game play.
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
I’m never going back there again after I’m done afking blitz achievement.
They have to kill 2 more bosses right now, that’s why I have time to post here.
It is just so boring and takes so long. Anet should have put some tiny areas near the entrance to the each boss so people could stand there and have somewhat equal numbers and do this the way Anet imagined it to be done.
But that will never happen like this.
Even if bronze reward was as good as gold one I still wouldn’t do it. Killing one boss then going afk for the achievement is more than enough for me. It’s too boring.

Got my achievements the first day, no idea why I would go back. I could get more loot and experience by doing pretty much anything else in the game that isn’t that pit of despair and lootlessness.
Nope. I can make more guild farming my way from Hoelbrak to Orr, and the scenery is nicer.
Did one round, saw it was unrewarding, didn’t log back in.
As long as it is in this current format there’s no reason for me to go back after the achievements are done.
First time in the Crown Pavilion I must have gotten lucky. I found myself in a large group of people willing to listen and learn. Around the time I left they had begun to achieve silver rewards. We did six Blitzes in about two hours playtime. Each faster than the last to finish.
Last night I was there and trying to help by explaining it was faster if we split up. Unfortunately the number of people was around 26 and no one was willing to do so. Hours and I managed to get through two Blitzes. It was painful. I only needed four to finish the achievement but it wasn’t happening.
I am out of there when I finish unless there is another night like the first.
(Note: putting your dead body at the boss doesn’t work quite the same as a blue Dorito but some of us did try in hopes people would come.)

TxS did Boss Blitz for the first time last evening.
We spread guildies over 3 different CP maps and the group I was with managed 5 gold runs and 2 bronze runs. The bronze runs were due the event already in progress when we joined 2 different maps.
We will probably do this quite a few times more as the 40 odd champs bags were pretty decent for the time/effort spent.

So there is “pretty decent” loot, if you organize and plan it right. People should be happy, no? Achievs, some loot, challenging, and not mindless zerging – Isn’t this what everyone asked for?

I beat her with condi. thief, regen when under stealth helps a lot as well as caltrops upon dodging (with food of 40% endurance regen). I wish you good luck!
Last night(about 22.30 UK time), after waiting what seem like ages the boss event started, but due to the long wait time most players had left so only 12 of us were left, but we started anyway. I had an invite to a team which I accepted and looking at the achievement points of the four other players not one of them had 2000 points, and when I asked I was told this was their first time in the event. A hour and a half later when most of the other players had left and we still had two bosses to kill we decided to call it a day too. My reason for this post is looking at most people saying they won’t be going back into the event, is what about the newer players who for them this is their first time playing these events, will they be able to kill enough for the achievements, I don’t think so, and how will they feel about the game if there isn’t enough players there to help them? I still need most of the events but the two times I’ve been in today, there’s not been enough players in the server to start the boss event and I hope more players will be in there tonight, but if not I will organize a guild team to go in and get the events we need. But this still won’t help the newer players to the game who need the event, its just a shame we can’t all get on one server and complete all the events.
I’m sad to say this, but no, I have no plans on staying in the pavilion. My meta is done, and I got my panda. I’m swapping to do my husband’s account. Then I’ll probably just hang out in aspect arena to earn tokens (for more tomes of knowledge). Since the mobs don’t drop essentially anything, there is no point to farm on a higher level character. Since they don’t reward XP, there is no point in taking a lower level character in to level. The pavilion content (this time around) simply does not offer any type of ‘long term’ incentive to keep playing it. Maybe if you belong to a guild that consistently earns gold on boss blitz, it might make it worthwhile to spend the time, but I doubt it. As it stands, every time I’ve done it, it’s taken well over an hour to complete one run and for what the bronze bag rewards, that’s just not sufficient use of my time.
I would love to keep coming back to the CP after the achievements “if” I had as much fun as I did the first night when people were patient and willing to learn.
It becomes frustrating and almost futile when people insist on zerging each individual boss separately. That is with very helpful map chat and no hostility or anger in chat. I mean after two hours even I was tempted to start begging people to listen.
I think another player here had it right. It will become a hit or miss event. If you get in with an organized guild that knows what to do, you’ll have a blast and enjoy yourself.
I just got lucky my first night. There wasn’t an organized guild but we did have five blue doritoes of six needed and the people in the map were interested in going for the gold. I only regret I had to work the next day and left around midnight. The challenge to get gold in such a group of people was very fun. I hope to find another such group of strangers at least once more before the event ends.

Give me a good reason to.
If you don’t enjoy the content, why force yourself to do it? Are you that desperate for those achievement points? Or the tonic/mini? By doing this content, even if you dislike it, you send the wrong message to Arenanet. You effectively tell them you will do any content, no matter how boring and unrewarding, as long as there are achievement points and/or fluff like tonics, minis or back items.
I only did the blitz thing once and I was appalled by the ‘rewards’. And it wasn’t fun or challenging either. So I don’t plan to go to the pavilion again.
To earn gold level loot (8 champ bags plus tokens, passes, etc) you need to kill all 6 bosses in under 10 min.
We did this 5 times, so add in a few mins to organise before each attempt, this represents around 1.5 hrs spent, and this was our first time doing these events.
This was the rate you could expect earning champ bags doing the old Frostgorge train over the same time period.
Yes, you need to be organised, but this is not difficult for a guild to do. As for the pugs, if you present yourselves as serious about organising for gold level loot, most randoms will follow instructions.
EDIT: Just to add, what took time was getting all the guildies sorted into 3 different maps. But once that was done, doing 5 gold runs is pretty quick.

Long Answer: Tried it and didn’t like it at all. Mobs don’t drop loot and the ‘champ bags’ drop blues and greens. Waste of time. WvW is more rewarding by a long shot. The meta reward for this LS patch is not rewarding enough for the time required.
Short Answer: No.
My reason for this post is looking at most people saying they won’t be going back into the event, is what about the newer players who for them this is their first time playing these events, will they be able to kill enough for the achievements, I don’t think so, and how will they feel about the game if there isn’t enough players there to help them?
F them. Let them think the game’s a steaming pile for all I care, it’s not my job to make the game fun. That’s ANet’s job, and one they increasingly fail at. I’m not going to play and replay content I don’t like, eating up my relaxation time, to try and make it fun for someone else.
And let’s be clear here, I’m not normally like this. Normally, I LIKE working with other players a bit to make things more fun. I enjoy there being a real sense of community with like-minded players. Which, for me, means Role Players and the like. Tarnished Coast was one of the unofficial RP servers, and by no coincidence, also one of the friendlier servers.
After crap like Megaserver and the destruction of town clothes, it’s clear ANet doesn’t value that kind of thing, nor do they have any idea what they’re doing. Bending over backwards to compensate for their failings will not help them to learn from them. Let the un-fun events fail, maybe they’ll get a clue. But if we push ourselves to play bad content just for the sake of other players, we do a disservice to everyone. To ourselves, to the new players who will invest more time in the game before realizing how it really is, and to ANet for clouding their judgement with our actions.

If you can get people to split up its actually fairly rewarding, all you need is a little coordination and people willing to listen. How often at large events do you see 10+ commanders?
Well now is the time for that to be useful, get six people with tags, have each stand on the rim around the middle outside the fence, one for each boss, and gather around 10-12 people at each.
With smaller groups the bosses are significantly easier. BUT, they typically die at different rates, so the groups killing faster ones need to STOP and wait for all 6 to be nearly dead before any die or the ones left just get that much harder and you’ll likely miss gold. TS is helpful of course but if people just call out in chat when they reach 5/10% it’s not really hard. (It’s getting people to listen and stop mindlessly zerging that’s hard, but that’s what we want isn’t it?? People to stop zerging? Content that isn’t one big zerg? Okay maybe it’s breaking one zerg into smaller ones but its a start!)
People asked for non-zergy content, well this is it, and its only rewarding if you break the zerg.
There is absolutely no evidence to support that it would.” -AnthonyOrdon
So I need to hurry and get my achievements. So this is the result of eliminating mindless zergs and going for coordinated gameplay that so many people asked for? Ironic isn’t it
The large Guilds asked for coordinated gameplay with tactical thinking required. The casual player asked to get rid of the Zerg play. So they helped out the big guild players with coordinated gameplay. The casual player still has the World Boss train, and the FGS Champ train. No coordination required.
As a casual player, I will not be joining a mega guild to access the rewards locked away from me in the big Guild membership. I am always looking for challenging content to solo, and I find a lot, but I have now mastered them to the “T”, and I need more.
Nah, to me its the most mind numbing content they have put in to game (or should I say put back into the game, instead of actually producing anything new).
Zerg content bores me to tears and this is no different.. just because your 50+ zerg is offered up the chance to split into smaller zergs to try and beat the clock, still makes it zerg content only with even less to show for it at the end.
The same ole beef up boss hp rather than developing something more challenging than #1111 dodge#11111dodge seems beyond this game .. so no, I got some achievs, killed the bosses in the gauntlet for a few greens, now back to .. well, back to the same stuff only in Openworld I guess
This is precisely why I rushed those achievements.
I want to take a moment to say something. As I’m sure I’ve made it clear, I think this event is an abysmal fail.
But…
I’ve not been able to fight all of the bosses in a small group, but I have a couple and from what I’ve seen they’re actually pretty good. Jumping from platform to platform in the lava while dealing with a boss that throws fireballs and sometimes reflects attacks? Fun. Centaur stampedes while fighting that boss as he runs around? Annoying until I got the hang of them, then kind of awesome. Having to quickly dodge bomb patterns while I fight in a fairly open area? Cool. Distracting birds so I can not kill myself when attacking the ogre boss? Neat, if you can see what you’re doing.
The bosses seem to have some pretty good designs to them. Having them build up and carry over is bad, though. And having them be a near-bottomless pit of HP is just awful. If these were reworked for smaller teams (and kept to smaller teams) and given a reasonable amount of HP, I think people would be able to enjoy them a lot more.
