We understand that you’re all impatient for the Halloween update to go live.
As stated on the event page, the Halloween event will go live on October 22, Pacific Time.
As previously messaged earlier today, it will go live later this evening on October 22.
It is an involved process to push a game update to the live servers, so a lot of care must be taken to ensure quality.
Thanks for your patience and understanding.
Finally! Thank you Miss. Regina for clarifying in a sticky.
WHEN ’WEEN!!!??? :p
I don’t understand why there are so many impatient people here. This content update is FREE… stop complaining.
It’s technically not free, the entire idea behind “free content” was paying for the game up front. They stated it would be free, and we would only pay the one fee for the game.
The people being impatient, is more of them stating it would be the 22nd, and them releasing it possibly up to a minute before midnight.
When you tell someone you’ll release it on a certain date, people expect it that day, not a few hours before midnight, and most definitely not a minute before midnight.
I’m not saying it will be released at 11:59pm, but it “could” at this rate.
That’s what people are upset about. Especially since this is a well liked game, and it’s a week night, meaning a lot of people who work are going to miss the opening event.
Thanks Regina! I love the game and as many have done for it’s initial release, I can wait for quality. We aren’t all impatient :P
No worries on the wait A-Net It will all be worth it!
Does this include the lions boxs?

Seriously, it’s 6PM (18:00) in the Pacific Time Zone. Evening hasn’t even begun. Stop complaining.
I don’t see a reason to be upset. It will release when it releases, whining doesn’t speed up the process.
Why can’t ANet use GMT, like the rest of the world? I mean, surely you realize not even all Americans know the difference between Pacific and GMT, and you expect all non-Americans to calculate it just for you?
Do your community a favor and please adopt the international standard of using GMT/UTC so the global Guild Wars 2 community is more clearly informed about stuff like this.
So very excited. :B
I’ve been on the server side of an update like this on a few other games. What you guys need to realize is how huge their server software/client software push must be, and one single parameter or config file out of place can make it all break.
So, what professional companies do is regression test to ensure that the live server matches the staging server. This takes a while, and if they find any inconsistencies (which do happen. Even if it’s 99.999% correct there’s still an error) they need to find and fix it.
So relax. Everything is going according to plan. Even if it screws up: it’s still planned for.
That’s a whole lot of words just to simply say “whenever we feel like it”.
Inb4 all the self-entitlement, rage at Anet for not knowing the exact time, accurate to a minute, when the update will be pushed out. Inb4 people who get mad cause the times are in Pacific time and can’t be bothered to figure out the GMT. Inb4 how Anet is a bad company for whatever reason. Inb4 people being mad because they might not be able to play it tonight, when there’s a whole 9 days afterwards. Inb4 Anet needs to stop pandering to PST people just because their company is based there.
Looking forward to the event and, believe it or not, waiting patiently. (Waiting patiently? What the heck is that?)
So much complaining, why can’t people be excited for an update like this? I know I am.
The problem was that no time was given leading to many people hanging on when they could have gone to bed, or decided to do something else instead. That is why a lot of people are a bit miffed.
i knew that selling timepieces to the colonies would lead to this…
Thank you for the update!
Seriously, just let them do it. If my kids were this irritating about it I’d make them wait until tomorrow.
Sooo, sometime between now and midnight Pacific time. Maybe.
:)

Because PST is across the world, yes? Hell, because PST is across the US, yes?
It’s well into the evening on other parts of the US and across the world…small minded individual.
I imagine it can be very tricky to patch this stuff across all of the servers while accommodating to the technical aspect of it all; but it would have been nicer to know more about the release of this patch in terms of when it’s getting released, earlier.
Exactly Webrunner. But sadly, a lot of people think they know better, and have any concept of what’s involved. They say that A-Net should have set it a day before, or adjusted the timing of it, but then they’d just be * then, that it wasn’t a day earlier yet again.
People just need to relax and breathe a little. The first stage of the event lasts quite a while. It’s not like if you’re not online the second it comes live, you’re going to miss everything and millions of people are going to get something you’re not.

ANet was extremely clear with their announcements that the times/dates they posted were in PDT. They even gave the GMT time in parentheses on the website. It’s not all that difficult to do the conversion yourself if you really need to.
Take your time, better late than to have glitches
The problem, is that some of us have lives, and when the content was announced for “Afternoon PST” we had to make arrangements to have time to play (especially those of us not on the west coast).
At this point ANet could be a little more respectful of people’s time/lives outside of the game and just come out with a time.
It is only 6:08pm PST. They still have almost 6 hours left in the day. Everyone need to calm down. lol
SO PUMPED. Haters gonna hate so let them wait.
Update will come after the Presidential Debate guys… 2 hours, maybe more.
Edited
@Arjeidi, They have clearly defined that PST/PDT is thier standard time zone for posts & information.
Its not that kitten hard to go Google or similar site and search what time they are expecting it to launch.
Chill out people.
My bet is on 8pm. Luckily I share time zones with Anet.
the debate, I mean…
so much anger, you can tell who came from other games instead of gw1…
but… but… you guys keep saying “october 22 pacific time” give us at least an estimated timeframe like you did at launch
Since all they are able to provide is a (now)6 hour window, despite the earlier announced time of “late afternoon PST,” I’m just going to call it a night. Hopefully for future updates they can figure this stuff out a little better.
i just hope this isn’t a pattern with every single event/content update in the future.
lol @ the person complaining that Arena Net used the word impatient. Look at these threads and tell me people are being patient, and A-Net was wrong with that terminology….
Halloween has been removed from the game. Thank you everyone for reporting this exploit!
I think everyone needs to just calm down a little. I took a day off today and I’m not complaining. Just play the game and be patient.
All I want for Halloween is a flaming pumpkin for a head. Time frame immaterial.
Bring it!
*grin*
*home from work, ready to play dance - well, more like slow waddle toward the refrigerator, but it’s the thought that counts*
Could you please please use GMT time ? It’s only few hours difference to calculate that way. People are kinda mad not because the update isn’t out yet but because of the lack of information. It probs wont go live for EU till 5 AM at this rate, and we would be totally cool with it if we knew from the start the exact launch time. Sucks staying up late just to find out you know? Especially when you announced this update more then 1 week ago. Nighty night
The content is free Jatobi. The game came out with a express ammoutn of content. And it was well (if not MORE) worth the price for the ammount of time and entertainment it gives you. It is a full game that works and is the same price as a similar full game that works (Dishonored, Assassins creed ect.) Your paying for the game at that point. This halloween thing (And ALL other updates to the game beyond this point (besides balance issues and bug fixes)) is like getting free DLC for Dishonored. I wouldnt ocmplain about that. HEll they could release halloween stuff for Dishonored during CHRISTMAS and I wouldnt care if it was free. Grow up a bit and stop the QQ people.
Also: If you think they should use GMT, consider that the alarm clocks they get up to, the time they have dinner with their families, when they have lunch, these are all on pacific time.
It’s just easier for them to use the times they’re familiar with to keep everything consistent.
Divinion.4327Love how you lock the thread as I was about to call out your Community Team Lead. They need to take some lessons on how to be a PR. They insulted all of the Guild Wars 2 Community by calling us all impatient because we are looking up info on the forums about the update that was supposed to have been released already. It would be a bit more appropriate to use the word “eager”. That Community Team Lead really should be dropped from their current position.
No. Just no. It’s just barely turned evening in PST. Where they’re based. “Supposed to have been released already.” No. The amount of wrong in this post is staggering. People are impatient.
Impatient.
Impatient.
Impatient.
That word doesn’t have an insulting tone attached to it. Go read the posts in that locked thread. Talk to me about “Eager” vs “Impatient.” Also, I’m sure she locked the post juuuuust to upset you.
Totally agree with Morgoth.4573 and his post of
“The problem was that no time was given leading to many people hanging on when they could have gone to bed, or decided to do something else instead. That is why a lot of people are a bit miffed.”
Yea, if Anet would just set a time, and update us if there is any changes, then there will be less QQing. But they do not, so people then expect it to be out first thing on the 22nd.
To me, Anet really set themselves up a big bulls eye by not informing people of the timing, and then with their vague communications.
Excuse me but some people do have lives outside of guild wars 2 and as such have put said lives on hold while waiting for the update to come live. However waiting around all day for an event to go live can be frustrating and makes people who put their lives on hold for the event upset because they could have spent their time taking care of other things rather than waiting all day for an event because Anet hasn’t given us a specific time frame.
please, take your time. i most likely wont even be able to participate for alot of this. but i would still preffer you all to take your time and make the evet great like the rest of the game, than rush it for all the cry baby’s and make it bad for everyone. haters are always gonna hate.
Canada loves ya =) keep doing what your doing.
Oh, and to add to things: Do you actually think they want to be in the office releasing the game much past 6-7pm local time? You can be kitten sure that if they’re staying late they’re doing it for you ungrateful jerks.
Can people stop telling Anet to use GMT? Its a game made by a NA developer, operating out of the west coast in Pacific time, and will use pacific time. Why should Americans have to figure out what GMT equals in their time zone?
