Other players purpose is not to convince you to play the game.
If you don’t want to play then that is your problem.

We don’t have the patch notes yet so we don’t have details on exactly what is being included, but a new living story arc, a new world boss and a new temporary boss is pretty notable. If that doesn’t sound interesting to you then go find some other way to spend your time.

I’m prettttyy sure they’ve learned their lesson though. Once Scarlet’s arc is finished I expect them to head in a very different direction.

I think they should have done something different with the way the wurm looks. From what I can tell in the video, it just looks like the Great Jungle Wurm with some different attacks. And apparently there will be 3 Great Jungle Wurm heads that connect underground to form one beast.

So we’ll see. Could be interesting.

Nope! More of the same crap with Scarlet being fantastically amazing at everything while wanting to kill everyone – I thought they’d learned that this wore out it’s welcome months and months ago, but judging from that trailer we’re still going to have to foil her plans as she laughs at us for playing her puppet. Scarlet is testing her robot so she can prepare for a fight with Primordus. Her five alliances are to handle Primordus’ minions, and I’m sure this giant robot has something to do with confronting the dragon itself. Basically an alliance with the power of the Pact (which killed Zhaitan), if not greater. The mysterious probes all across Tyria are probably to monitor Primordus’ movement. If this is true, it’s pretty interesting.

Gameplay-wise, I think it will be a lot of fun. At least, for the first week or so.

Lore-wise, it could be interesting: we get a new character joining Destiny’s Child. (What? Can you think of a better name for them?)

Aesthetically, I’m mixed. The marionette seems cooky and neat, but the wurm is disappointing. Couldn’t they at least give the old model a new skin?

No quality of life changes.

Nothing for WvW.

Nothing for PvP.

No skill/trait updates/changes.

Possibly, nothing new in the above until after the 4th March 2014.

Basically getting 1 permanent world boss encounter, 1 temporary world boss encounter.

One may be like Tequatl, so you will need possibly 80+ players and probably join a current Tequatl guild.

The other could be like the invasions and be a massive zerg free for all, where players target loot above everything.

You will also get a list of achievements to tick off, some will be annoying.

You will also have a 1 in 100,000 chance of a ascended drop if you complete the boss but other wise the usual 2 greens and a blue.

Excited? Not so much…

No, not really. The only thing that could be interesting is the huge robot which kinda looks like a map-wide raid-fight (of some sort). But it’s temporary so I bet it’s going to be a messy zergfest.

The worm … well yeah, new hard bosses are cool and stuff,, but I doubt he will be really good. I bet he’s stationary … great! And the rewards will be off as usual.

And there doesn’t look to be more to the update, so no, I’m not looking forward to it. Arenanet finally made me not looking forward to SOMETHING in a new patch. But they finally did it. I congratulate them for further destroying their game and ignoring entire communities.

Keep the quality up, Arenanet. I’m going to try the coming 4+1 updates and if I don’t get hooked again, I’m gone, with a tearful eye as this could’ve been a great game.

I dunno, I think this will just be another step in the Living story updates that will be setting up its conclusion in March. I have basically stopped playing GW2 since before Christmas after getting burned out in WvW and getting 4 lvl 80’s and a lvl 53 that I gave up on. Think the last time I checked I was around 400 hours logged but must check again.

Being quiet honest I think the LS was a major letdown. I remember when it was being announced and that they were not doing “expansions” I was a little worried. Since then my guild ~100 regulars at peak has disbanded and the WvW guild I was in now has about 5-10 playing regularly down from 40+ regulars. Lesser frequented PvE zones now seem to be deserted even on my High pop Server. There is simply no meaningful content to keep guilds together (Yes we did all the Guild Missions) in this game bar some WvW (And even that usually turns into zergfests) which you eventually burn out on.

There needs to be content for 10+ groups, be it GvG or Expanded dungeons or more regular updates like the Tequatl update, not this bitesize achievement grinding they have introduced with the LS. There needs to be something to keep a large group of player playing together, not just gear to grind for individually with each update.

Reading this gives me a little hope that I can get back into it when the “Expansion content updates” start to roll in, with maybe a new gamemode like GvG and new areas being opened up.

As for a new LS we have heard it all before with this television show comparison from Colin Johanson and I would seriously start to question his priorities here. It seems to me that they need to get in some fresh game designers in there because they have had plenty of time to get the LS right but have failed to do so.

I must also add that the actual LS story/lore was pretty brutal that just seemed to be made up on the fly to experiment with the new gameplay mechanics they introduced with each LS update like the invasions or Karka updates.

tldr: Stop with the LS updates that just seem to be experimenting with different types of mechanics, you should have nailed down what works and what doesn’t by now, lose the achievement grind, more meaningful group and guild content, Maybe new zones/classes/race to freshen things up a little closer to traditional expansions.

I post this one another thread, but I will put it in here too:

I am not sure, but somehow it looks like that giant Clockwork “woman” is in

a) fractails
b) dungeon
c) Place like Queen’s Gauntlet was.

There was too little players on those plates where she stepped and there were quite few players around of those other clockworks too. (I think there were 5 players on that plate). I didn’t see same zerg around those clockworks as there were with that wurm. There might be NPC’s in there with those players fighting with those clockworks.

I notice that there were 5 plates and 5 chains on that clockwork woman. Or is it just a coincidence? But somehow it feels like those plates are somehow same kind of like Queen’s Gauntlet had.

That wurm is in open world. There was more players around of it.

Well, this is only a grazy idea what I got when I watch that video.

To the OP, as many have said, we shouldn’t have to convince you. If you want to play or don’t, that’s your decision. You should always play any game with your free time and enjoyment in mind. If you have neither, move along

I personally can’t wait for this new content. Looks exciting and fun to me.

This made me think about something. Scarlet hasn’t been trying to kill the people of Tyria though. She’s been testing them. The invasions have been a test against Tyria’s defenses. The whole time she’s also been laughing about what we think we know, we don’t and that we are all puppets to some greater power or some such. What if what she saw was that Primordus or some other dragon was actually controlling things in Tyria and she is actually trying to combat that her own way.

Hmmm… This is an interesting theory.

If you need convincing, then you’re probably just not interested in the first place. Maybe wait until it’s live, see what people think about it and what it’s all about and decide whether you might fing it fun.

As for me, looks like a half attractive update so far. Based only on the trailer video, the wurm thing looks like just several copies of the jungle wurm event happening at the same time, not that much interesting… but the giant marionette looks really cool (again, to me), I love the way it moves making it clear that it’s not really moving on its own power but like an actual marionette pulled by the chains, has lots of potential for a cool fight.

Of course, that’s all based on the single trailer, for all I know the wurm fight might end up being really cool and the marionette one really bad one, or maybe both end up being really good events (hoping here), or maybe both end up boring…. the only thing I really know for sure is that I’ll try them when they go live.

It’s a pile of Elonian protection magic, mixed with a little monk training,
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.

Well to me the update looks perfect so far (maybe only cause i got a massive freaky machine fetish and this huge puppet thing is giving me a sort of kitten i cant and dont want to explain without a lawyer). I hope this update also brings armor and weapons in that design >_<. As for the worm, not sure how to feel about it, we got already a giant worm like this, doesnt even look visually different to the “new” worm. But then again it didnt show much of it, im certain this thing also got a twist to it cause “just a worm” would be a bit…random at this time. Anyways.. i personally cant wait to fight those new things and see the rewards…that hopefully give me some new stuff to pimp out my beloved engineer (since i missed most of the nice things like the gas mask and slickpack up to that point).

Unlike WvW, I did not feel like an outsider at Blackgate and Blackgate Overflow doing the events because most of us were guesting from other servers and members of different guilds.
