TTS Almost defeated the Great Jungle Wurm
It was fun to see it “die” in person Good job everyone on that run. It was amazing to see the wurms almost give up the fight like you’d expect them to do.
I wonder what caused the bug, and why the bug exists at all. I can only imagine something along the lines of “Oh yeah, forgot to add the victory state.”
Realistically I would blame last minute changes.
You wouldn’t happen to have a screen shot of the apology would you? Regardless, good job.
no unfortunately I thought about it after they shut down the overflow but it wiped my chat…. maybe some of the other TTS have it…
A lot of debate on what actually happened on that Crimson burn phase. Personally, I think that TTS should have gotten the kill. But, I can also see some things in the stream that might be against it. The wurm did bug but if that was a cause or an effect of what happened remains to be seen.
Not a Bug. You failed. Nice attempt, though. Just don’t make excuses about it.
um, you didn’t defeat the wurm at all no….wait for phase 2 champ. Its so obvious theres a second phase based around the heads after you decaptitate them….Don’t jump the gun TTS aren’t hero’s just yet.
Since the content was clearly made for TTS I will not congratulate you.
The rest of us will pray for the messiahs to visit the insignificant plebs in the other servers.
Is this really the future of gw2?
Slain but not slain? ROFL. You people should stop posting this bullkitten until you do slay it, for real.
If you check the achievements for the GJW, you’ll notice a distinction between decapitating the wurms (which TTS did) and killing the wurm heads (which TTS did not get a chance to do). TTS got screwed over but can’t really claim world first without doing the second phase of the event.
The decapitating is for AP from defeating individual wurms. The other achieve (wurmslayer) is for killing all three in one event…
The achievement in question says: “Defeat each of the great jungle wurm’s 3 heads in Bloodtide Coast. x/3 Great Wurm Heads Defeated”
If credit for this achievement is only awarded when all three are dead then it would be a 1/1 achievement not a 3/3 achievement.
Do players present at the bugged attempt now have 2/3 on this achievement and can you provide a screenshot as proof? If the achievement still says 0/3 then it indicates the heads were not actually ‘defeated’ but just ‘decapitated.’
Gratz TTS! Hopefully they reward you all well.
Congrats TTS!
You can argue the specifics later, still a great run!

I wonder if the devs are reading this going “We did what now? Who went to this event and said those things? >_> Who here doesn’t even know how our own event works?”
=D
Can’t claim World First on just one phase, bugged or not.
Talk about premature celebrations
Talk about QA failure.

Yeah, this thread is bogus.
Should be closed.
The Great Jungle Wurm was not defeated and if everyone wants to talk about it being bugged, a seperate topic should be used for that.
Not to detract from your accomplishment, but:
the great Jungle Wurm
I have a sneaky suspicion that the 3 wurms just lure out the main one.

I watched this attempt on live stream. It was sad when they had obviously killed it and then the event ended and the Crimson Wurm stayed there after it was over flailing in the wind….. Not to mention the mobs kept coming after they should have disappeared.

Grats TTS on the world first!
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
You people jealous much ?
Just wow….
Either way gratz to TTS.

Jumping in here for a moment to clarify a few things because there are some misconceptions about that attempt in particular.
1) TTS did not kill the Wurm. A GM was able to examine the boss and get some info and they were off by 0.01%. Even if they had killed it, that is not the end of the encounter, there is still another phase.
2) We’re investigating why the Wurm did not burrow when the event failed.
TTS did manage to sever the heads of all 3 Wurms later in the middle of the night and were the first to see the final phase.
Well my hat is off to TTS for even getting one part almost done. Seriously. Kudos to you.

A world boss was taken the furthest yet by a GUILD, in GUILD wars 2? Yep that just sounds ludicrous..
Gratz TTS.

I guess we can blame that one guy who didn’t use oil/foods for that failure.
Yep, it’s all YOUR fault. You. Yeah, I’m talking to you.
What was the final phase?
What was the final phase?
It’s the one where all three wurms start to move and you have 2 mins to kill them.

People, please stop misinterpreting the game title. Guild Wars refers to the wars between established guilds in the game world before the start of Guild Wars 1. It was an in-world history thing, not a reference to the PvP system OR how the content is supposed to be tackled.
That said, I too find it kind of…odd to design open worlds apparently specifically for specific guilds. But I have shared my opinion on the wurm events on several threads now, I think I’ve made myself clear
TTS did manage to sever the heads of all 3 Wurms later in the middle of the night and were the first to see the final phase.
!
another phase?….this is gonna take awhile until someone finishes the entire event….

Do you consider as intended :
-The fact that a guild is forced to artificially generate an overflow to try in good conditions this event ?
-The fact that it HAS to be done in guild, with a vocal, to be able to succeed ?
However, gratz TTS. You’ll get it soon.

The name of the game has nothing to do with player guilds – it is an event described in the lore.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/The_Guild_Wars
And yeah, an open world event shouldn’t need all that preparation and coordination. We’re supposed to do it with random people, who may or not may be properly equipped, not even necessarily level 80 and that probably won’t even either read the chat or seek for info regarding the encounter.
Basically the exact opposite of such a guild.
I’m just going the leave this here.

This whole encounter is a perfect example why TTS and guilds like them are detrimental to the game as a whole.
When a “special” guild has to be created to defeat a boss, that is a sign there is something wrong with that boss encounter. When that same “special” guild then defeats the boss, it “proves” to the dev team that the encounter is working as intended as it can be beaten.
The marionette was done well, the wurm and teq are just ridiculous.

can’t succeed it even though we don’t have the best strategy, must be broken.

I think they do think this is how it was supposed to be intended. Its basically a hard fight for organised groups just like the Teq fight.
Anet really did need to create challenging content for larger guilds this is only one of two fights in the entire game designed for these large guilds, they have guild missions for causal guilds to do, world events like the Marionette for pugs, dungeons and fractals for smaller groups of friends.
You can still see the Wurm fight, and participate in it. The content isn’t blocked off for you, the issue is you won’t be able to finish it without some organisation. And if you really feel like you should be able to complete it then join a guild that does fight it. Good thing about GW2 is you can join 5 guilds.
Sometimes I think people just want to solo everything.

If the forced creation of special guilds like TSS is what anet intended, then the game is doomed as that is pretty much the worst example of programming I have ever seen in any game.

For hardcore endgame objectives guilds form all the time in MMOs.. I guess you’re new to this.
Desolation’s attempt. Possibly the furthest anyone has got with this encounter?
I was there, we needed just 5 more seconds((
Kind of sad that the only way to beat this encounter is to shuttle into overflows.
What happened to server pride, ANet? Outside of TTS this event will, just like Tequatl, be completely abandoned in a few weeks. I can’t dig that.

Deso was pretty close, as a server. Not in an overflow.

You do realize those are instanced raids right?

So this verifies that me being too cheap to eat my Orrian Steak Frittes potentially cost us the kill.
