It’d be nice to have real match ups again. Getting tired of fair weathers coming out in a zerg and giving my server a bad name of running from field fights. KH thrives on field fights and hates zerging, but it’s hard to find fights when zergs steal the life from our opponents and they stop showing up.

It was nice to run into KH being split off from the CERN/TSL/PINK/whatever the hell zergs all night tonight. Props for not going full blob.

Because drp and PYRO weren’t running a big blob, oh wait….

That’s being a bit dishonest isn’t it? D$RP came out of the gates in blobs on TC BL last night, i found out the hard way with my initially small group.

First, great fights last night on EB, FaTe appreciated the great fights and sometimes being outmanned and sometimes not. Sometimes we won open field sometimes we didn’t. Yes the server population differences will impact us week to week, but bring the fight smartly where and when you can. For those who doubt population makes all the differnence Mag started out strong at reset at one of their best coverage times, as the night went on they dwindled and the maps and scores reflected that. We maintained a strong presence is EB, and ok presence in SOS BL.

When we made pushes into TC areas 80 man zergs show up. Two things I noticed. Our SOS BL would spike temporarily in PPT and in map control. As they claimed a tower or two and defended the SM they would withdraw leaving more equal numbers and we could push again rather than play defense. What that means is that if you are commanding and an 80 man zerg shows up and wipes you, you are still helping the cause and don’t lose heart because you distracted those 80 from doing something more productive.

A zerg stacking for 25 might buffs, swiftness, and stealth is never bad and should be done frequently, which makes conditions and hits both hit harder, evening out number disparity. Any commander who says its a bad idea is either crazy or new. When you are in a zerg finish the downed and if you are downed aimed for enemy downed for rallies they can make all the difference in the world.

SoS brings the fights no matter the odds and I’m proud of that. Is there a magic formula to win without wipes? Nope, its going to happen, using good strategies can and will reduce some bad wipes. We need more people sticking to one commander on each map. While there are times for a two pronged approach, when an 80 man zerg is capping something T3, its not the time. More than 2 commanders on a map is just stupid unless they are running together in the same place.

As for some bored folks who left, I wish them well and hope they find what they are looking for. If you are reading this you probably are well versed in WvW. If you are not though, join a guild with a competent commander or 2 and strengthen that guild and the server as a whole. Organization can make up for less numbers, and success will pull in more players which will lead to more success. The next best thing you can do is show up.

GOAT? Bandwagon? They have been on Borlis since like a month after launch. They’re not really classified as ‘Bandwagon’ – do you even know what that term means?

Besides – it’s not like GOAT is this massive guild that will take up a borderland… chill.

Well to be technical, you can be a bandwagoner even if you have only moved once; it is the motivation for moving that matters.

BP was winning almost every matchup, but we were brushed off for every single thing we tried to say to make the server better. We left to get away from BP not bandwagon to a winning server (lol) . We found mag as our best fit so we transferred there.

Man that bandwagon comment gave me a good laugh.

We had 15 PYRO and 20 [DERP] last night when we teamed up. The most we ever had was probably an extra 20 pugs, max.

Mag and SoS are in a perpetual state of limbo. You can call us tier 2.5 servers with completely opposite primetimes. SoS or Mag drop we roflstomp, we rise we get stomped due to coverage issues.
SoS or us can’t really complain about the bad matchups or the random matchups. If it were reverted back to the old system it would be Mag/SoS/YB or EB(?) and we would be complaining about staleness/boredom and pvdoor aswell because no one has the Oceanic presence you guys have while our NA is stronger I presume. This is a kitten ed if you do kitten ed if you don’t situation.

I think facing new guilds and servers each week is fun, regardless of the ppt at the end of the day.

TC faces fights outmanned in greater frequency than even i thought we would. That said in general we outnumber our opponents in confrontations when i am present, which is for a myriad of reasons.

First of all, I’m on BG. Secondly, no matter where the other two servers transfer TC will still be the Tier 1.5 server steamrolling T2. That’s the problem here.

It can’t be avoided by transferring lower. The only solution is to buff Tier 2 to be competitive (and therefore glue the top 6), or disperse TC. The latter is far easier.

Lolwut. Why are you trolling our matchup thread then? Go help your team win T1 or do something productive. No one is going to disperse TC. Want to know why? Because the most of the transfers that TC gets are PvErs. They aren’t here for WvW, but will eventually dabble in it to try it or for world completion. We have a fairly large WvW community on the surface, but a lot of the people you see in the BL’s are militia. Even if TC dispersed, the core would be here, and so would the militia. Your suggestion would change nothing. This tier would still be imbalanced.

Since you aren’t on our server, just thought I’d share that. At the end of the day, TC isn’t a focused server in anything. We cater to all players, so people will transfer to fulfill what they like. Our server is far too varied to collapse like that, & the guilds that have been here since the start won’t leave because of ANets bad matchup system. There’s a reason TC is on the top 3 for stable servers & population.

We don’t blob quite in the same way you do, honestly. Your group was totally manageable the entire time at NN but the other TC group outsized both our group and the VR group significantly and we ran separately pretty much the entire time. And yeah, we blobbed with PYRO on our BL, you guys had a buttload, and everyone had fun!

Many of these posts are so replete with mournful venting. Guys, remember it’s just a game. No one choose this match-up. Please just try to have the most fun you can with it and hope Anet addresses our match-up issues soon.

Just to be clear, GOAT left a server that is not only continually winning, but growing by the week. We didn’t move because we finally wanted to win, we moved because we wanted to contribute. We wanted a server that values skill over numbers and the needs of the server over the egos of a few. We aren’t huge—we rolled 23 at reset—but we are enthusiastic and felt that Maguuma fit our play style and could absorb our small guild into their server without any issues. We’re keeping a low profile while we figure out our place in the established order. To bash Maguuma because GOAT transferred is just silly. We’re still trying to learn the jargon.

Tiers mean nothing anymore. There will be no meteoric bandwagon rise, like Kaineng’s, in the future. Crying ‘bandwagon’ just makes you sound quaint. Expect a lot of volatility over the next week as guilds find their fit. People will shift to where they are having the most fun. Leaving a winning server because the way they won just wasn’t fun made sense to us.

Actually, during match ups like this we tend to see only really EB and TCBL having queues. People mostly hop to the map which has the most stuff to take, so the more we own, the less queues we tend to have. When we faced CD and SoS, I think the only map that had a queue semi-consistently was EB…

Actually, during match ups like this we tend to see only really EB and TCBL having queues. People mostly hop to the map which has the most stuff to take, so the more we own, the less queues we tend to have. When we faced CD and SoS, I think the only map that had a queue semi-consistently was EB…

More than we can say when we’re winning. I was on TC and Mag last night and I felt like I never stopped seeing a queue zerg except for a little while past midnight.

I actually dunno how long the bug’s been going on. I just happened to notice about 8 hours ago. I know the last time it was working that I was on for was about 24 hours ago, so TC could have been playing on severely reduced to nonexistent supplies for as long as that. =P

EDIT: It means only the yaks that go to our inner towers/keep exist. The other yaks don’t pop up.

Anet isnt targeting you. It seems like yak events in question are buging out for the blue team on a number of matchups. Theres a couple threads about it in general WVW discussion.

Speaking of Blobs, this is the biggest Zerg I have ever seen. This is the first time post rendering patch that I’ve had rendering issues and skill lag. Was still a good fight @ mag garrison all night w/TC.

I honestly hope that no one is kittening about this match up, especially on the Mag side because all I heard in chat all last week was how boring the match up was when we had 80% of the map. Always gonna be someone to fight this week so enjoy it while it lasts.

Someone please explain why the server that will end up losing by 200,000 points talks the most smack, and acts like 13 year old basement dwellers in game?

please explain why tc has spent the past 3 hours flipping our camps, running into about 20 supply traps each time, then bailing out to go skirmish with sos in eb. they had an excellent attempt on wildcreek once where they dropped some rams and ran/died. it was a good show imo.

It’s because ANet figured out how to balance the Eternal Battlegrounds map by zapping one of the two Danelon and Umber Yaks for the past 8 hours, making it thrice as hard for TC to upgrade SMC, Durios or Quentin Lake.

Anet isnt targeting you. It seems like yak events in question are buging out for the blue team on a number of matchups. Theres a couple threads about it in general WVW discussion.

I didn’t say ANet was targetting us. I’m saying it’s made the map more balanced!

lemme see if I can’t sum up what I’m reading so far as a whole:
- WAH WAH this match sucks
-Guilds that transfer to another server are horrible bandwagoners, except when a guild does it to our server, then it’s for community
-zerg zerg zergy mczerg, who has the biggest balls…
-some of us appreciate that mag put up a hell of a fight last night with big numbers on both sides, though one side claims they really didn’t have big numbers, just big buff muscles.
On a whole:
-lets enjoy this week, it can still be really competitive, don’t play a great reset night, fall behind and say haha “kitten” this, it’s just 1 big server, we can’t win anyways. Then come on the forums and complain about how we’re getting killed by a big server.
-guilds transfer back and forth, it happens, and most of the time has to do with community, few guilds have really x-fered as merc-ing or w/e u wanna call it.
-this is a game, lets have fun ignore the trolls, go out there and have a blast annihilating each other…cause in the end..thats what this wvw is about…fun and destruction.

Obviously it wasn’t enough to embarrass kitten in the Maguuma Mumble / WvW team chat, but now it’s moved on to embarrassing Maguuma on the official forums.

I’m the absolute best commander in the game and every Maguuma guild that I’m not in is absolute kitten, especially [BURN]. Anyone who thinks they’re half as good as me is delusional and awful. Every other server is populated by nothing but pubbie nuthugger keyboard turners. I spectate sPVP just to laugh at people because I’m also the best player in the entire game. My leaderboard stats would be #1 if ArenaNet weren’t artificially setting dev friends’ stats.

I run Maguuma. Those kittening awful transfer immigrants need to go back to where to where they came from. If you’re not in kitten (the best guild in the game) don’t come ANYWHERE near my group or I will switch maps or go to PVE and let the other servers cap everything. If I don’t like you you’re kittening bad and need to transfer off to JQ for free wins. Deal with it #YOLO #SWAG.

You guys in PYRO are fun and great competitors. Just ran into a few of your guild members while roaming in a couple of different maps. Very classy and very exciting to fight against. Nicely played.

If this week’s match up was DB-Mag-SOS, you guys will face the EXACT same problem. DB will just roll over all of you. So what’s the difference? What’s your next plan? Disperse DB also?

Same thing with any of JQ, BG, SOR or FA facing Mag and SOS. The exact same thing will happen. So what are you going to do disperse them all?

As far as low population servers are concern, none of the top 6 servers is any different. They will roll over you, period.

I do feel sorry for you guys. But it is all Anet’s fault. Instead of disperse the bigger server to fit your needs, why don’t you transfer yourself to a lower tier server so you can enjoy yourself there?

Rethesis makes their movements very public. They had a huge thread basically asking to be recruited, and when that failed, they went to TC. This was after following WM to SOS or Kaineng (can’t remember which at this point).

Comparing that to a guild who has apparently been on one server until very recently would be very strange.
