This is such a poorly implemented solo dungeon. I can’t believe it made it out of testing.

Problems:

  • No voice warning when hes going to detonate mines.
  • Text on screen is all the same so you can’t tell when he’s going to detonate mines
  • Mines go invisible and can appear under you without circles or warnings making the achievement a study in luck and frustration. Makes me really want to play this content…not!
  • Canach seems to knock people back farther then you can knock him back and he does it far far faster then you can. Annoying to the max.
  • So much fog in the beginning you can hardly see the icons over the bombs when you’re learning how to disarm them. Poor design.
  • Reward is now what? once a day instead of per character. Great for people who couldn’t get on due to work etc… So disgusted I logged out! No reason to stay ingame.
  • Drop rate from Noll’s chest, like usual, sucks.

Speaking of drop rates Cox Boxes are not fun and your drop rate from mobs and from the boxes themselves would make Bandini proud. NOT FUN /disgusted.

Solutions:

  • Add voice warning to pre bomb detonation “Think you’ll take me in? I’ll blow this whole place up!”
  • Change text on screen to something different and a different color then yellow.
  • Fix mines going invisible and just spawning right under people without warning by having the red circles appear ahead of time to make sure people can move out of the way.
  • Lighten fog or make icons more visible.
  • STOP Screwing with the rewards and THINK before you implement them. (Can this be run by people making characters over and over?, Can this be cheezed by various skills? etc..)
  • Increase drop rates so that they’re, you know, possible and fun to get instead of having a better chance of being struck by lightning on a sunny day.

I am so disgusted with these kinds of updates and nerfs. What ever happened to tested content and stuff that was fun and rewarding? Seriously going to make me thing about ever picking up another ArenaNet/NCSoft product ever again. Should have learned my lesson with GW1, which also had some pretty crappy drop rates.

It was intended to be a reward which you can only do once per account. That it was not in the beginning was a bug. Now they fixed this bug.

voice warning is warranted and would give people another indicator. That point I’ll give you.

On the other hand, the text is different already. One says rearming all the mines,
while the other says detonating all the mines. Also he has an animation specific to both rearm and detonate on which he stands still and does. (I think rearm he spins in place? I forget)

Mines going invisible would be due to them detonating and having to respawn. There is a arming period where the mine is yellow, it is safe to stand next to it at that point but get away fast. If you try to disarm/switch the mine to green while it is yellow, it will go green then turn red after the scripted time frame that it was supposed to go from yellow to red, regardless of you changing it green.

So watch the chat and/or his animations, stand away from mines in the event of a full detonation, wait for mines to turn red before you convert them to green, stand there and laugh as canach melees you.

As far as his push back, put your back to a wall so he won’t push you into an armed mine. To have him hit one of your mines, just run him over it since a green mine won’t hurt you. Just be careful of him rearming the mines you turned green.

I didn’t notice that the boss was detonating the mines until about 15 minutes of fighting because I wasn’t watching the chat.
