I think the fix that changed the animation from mining to harvesting broke the spring effect, minorly. Originally when you started gathering, like with the molten pick, the spring would errupt immediately. Now the spring doesn’t show up until a second or two after you’ve finished harvesting.
It would also be nice if the the effect was slightly larger.
The start time of the spring is defiantly off (or something), I harvested a couple herbs last night only to see the spring as I was running to the next herb.
It’s a minor issue, but I agree it would improve quality of gaming so much if the animation start time triggered as soon as you started harvesting.
I would like to assume it is just a matter of a number being off, because it used to work right while the animation was wrong, but since changing the animation the timing went off.
That isn’t the only animation issue. The sickle is way too long now. Originally it was the correct size, but with the pick animation it floated in the are because of the shorter handle. Then they changed it to give it the same length handle as the pick (odd move) so it would no longer float with the pick animation. Now that they corrected the animation they need to adjust the handle back as it now looks very silly when gathering because of how far the hand is choked up on the handle.
I think the spring is suppose to trigger after you harvest, not during, just like harvesting potatoes, you water them down after taking some of the roots.
The animation only goes off when it actually harvests an item. The mine pick animation hits the node 4 times and gathers 3 times. You are stuck there long enough to see the spout because you stay to mine all 3 times. The sickle only gathers once and you run off because you have no reason to stay unless you can gather more than once. There is nothing wrong with it. The old sickle animation that everyone complained about forced you to stay in the animation after you gathered the item so you saw the spout.

Good to know. I know that I, personally, buy these items primarily for the effects, (but also for the convenience) and having them delayed or hard to see makes me less receptive to getting the items.
No doubt there will still be complaints but I’m happy with it now

This newest animation looks to me like the guardian hammer #4 animation — but it fits really well as a sickle animation. Very creative reuse of resources!
Hehe, maybe I was the only one who was quite happy with the much subtler version :p

I definately like the new animation, it’s very fitting. I would still like the water effect to occur sooner, though, since that was the actual reason for this thread.
