Asura Gates need name on mouseover

Yes, make it so you can see where the gate leads to on the map, instead of just saying “Asura Gate”
I agree, especially so for the newer players around.
After some time you get used to it of course, but you do it that way because it’s indirectly forced. I didn’t get to know which portals go where until I figured out that you “simply” have to move close enough to see the destination’s name at the center popping up in yellow text. It would have been even simpler to just mouse over any portal’s center with the mouse’s cursor to see that pop as well.
But, anyway, something like that wouldn’t do any benefits to me now that I’m aware of how it works. But mostly for newer players it’d help.
I agree. As someone who doesn’t use them often enough to memorize them, it’s hard to tell where a portal goes.
Agreed. Would be nice to have in the game.
I agree. Great suggestion
Would be great, but personally I never really needed them. My first time being there I automatically just looked at the race guarding the portals.

I think it would be particularly useful in the larger concentrations of gates. Sure, the LA ones have the guards to indicate, but what about the ones in Rata Sum itself?
At the very least, they should have this “name on tooltip” added for once you’ve been through a gate. (Until then, we can assume your player “doesn’t know” the destination.)
It would make the map so much nicer to use to have the functionality.
The names of the portal destinations could be made to be highlighted just as nodes are when ctrl is held.
Excellent suggestion.
For the city ones in Lion’s Arch, you can tell where they go by who’s guarding them as well. (seraph, wolfblood, wardens, etc) It would be nice to get some of the things mentioned here though.
Just rename them:
Asura Gate – Lion’s Arch
Asura Gate – The Grove
etc
