I’m not quite sure but I think that the interaction between combo fields and combo finishers needs a little work in its current state. As it stands you can only benefit from one combo field with a combo finisher at a time, this to me, seems like a bit of a hinderance. Let’s create this scenario:

Here I am as a ranger, and I am fighting a stationary ranged enemy. I can use Healing Spring to create a water field, then I can shoot my arrows through it to gain regeneration. Well now what if I am already standing in a water field and I throw a fire trap on the enemy to create a fire field around them? This is where the problem arises for me, when this occurs I will only get the regeneration from the water field and I will not get the burning bonus from the fire field because my arrows touched the water field first. Wouldn’t it seem a lot more balanced if you could benefit from all the combo fields and not just the closest, or even the “one on top”.

So then some would say, “well if they did this, then it would promote more solo play, because people would stack their build with combo fields and finishers.” I retorted and said that may be so, but you have to remember that the finishers really are meant to support the people around you and to deal direct impairments to the enemy. Also the ability to shoot an arrow through multiple combo fields and get a projectile finisher from all the unique fields that it passes through would indeed promote more diverse class play all and all. More people would spread the classes in their groups to get all the different combo fields and finishers.

I don’t know if this is a bug that it doesn’t work this way, or if maybe Anet thinks that it could be too overpowered, but I think with the right tweaking it could improve the gameplay of guild wars 2 overall.

i dont see why you couldnt just time your combo fields better… or place them better
this sounds way too OP in WvW

Right now guardians are already overused for obvious reasons, and in dungeons if you have more than one gairdian their light combo fields literally overwrite all other combo fields because they can spam them so much

It involves a little more ideas than the one presented here.

I think benefitting from all combo fields by default might be a little overpowered.
But each individual skill could have a different capability to handle multi-combo fields.
Some skills could handle 2, others 3, others just 1.
