GW2 Lion's arch to massive? Fps drops? Graphic settings turned down just not enough to enjoy?

I have notice on buying guild wars 2 and installing it that lion’s arch has the most fps drop out of all the major cities and its so massive. Is it possible to have a setting in the graphics to add portals in lion’s arch to make lions arch separate from the massive environment surrounding lion’s arch core structure.
On a side note.
-All other cities and environments don’t seem to drop as much in fps.

Also Black Citadel is fine.

This will rarely happen to anyone, you must have system requirements that are just good enough for the normal world, but not for Lion’s Arch. I have a normal laptop from 2010, and it runs just fine for me.
Any new system should be able to deal with it, or the problem lies with your network connection speed. I’d update either of those if I were you, or you can simply play on low graphics or change them before you go into Lion’s Arch.
Hope this helped,
have a nice day!

I usually play with everything at their highest settings, but the Halloween event has drawn enough traffic to LA that I started getting frame rate drops down to 30. One thing I noticed is that dropping reflections from ‘All’ to ‘Terrain and Sky’ instantly boosts my fps by about 10, even when I’m in the plaza and don’t have any water rendering on my screen.

I get about 50-70fps on most maps, but only about 20-35fps in LA/BC. :s This is all prior to halloween too. I was wondering why this happens, even when I’m playing optimized (which is mostly Med/high for me anyway)

This is normal. The more people there are, the more effort your GPU has to put in to render it all.
This is why, when you look at GPU’s on Newegg, people would state what their fps is when they are in Stormwind (from WoW) because, in the most-populated city of WoW, frame drops are standard.
Hope that helps!

Only thing is, in WoW characters in the city are visible farther than 5 feet away on low settings. In Gw2 on max settings you are only seeing a hand-full of people x distance away. Whatever that bug is that showed up a bit after release is probably more so the cause than anything else. Just like in PvP you know a zerg is coming even though you can’t see it because of frame drops. Unoptimized code would be my guess, frame drops before anything that renders wouldn’t be the fault of GPU would it?

Update: Game no longer orders the GPU to render objects that are out of sight.
