Give female Asura Breast.
Why would anyone even discuss over this so much ?
Personally i find this a horrible idea , they are not humans and they are perfect the way they are right now , also by your logic , charr also needs them.
no no no no no! I am a woman irl! And I like my asura as it is! It adds nothing! >. <
Vaux mieux ajouter de quoi comprendre leur culture, ça sera moins douloureux! >.<
hem…

Add’re better understand what their culture, it will be less painful! >. <
Charr actually need to have 6 of them.
Yes, and lets throw in some kitten options too while we’re at it.
I am a female irl too and I don’t want breasts on my asuras. Thank you.
-Mike Obrien, President of Arenanet
Give Asura boobs so they can wear chain mail bikini’s…? Eww.
Charr actually need to have 6 of them.
Charr are also fine just the way they are. As cats, they wouldn’t have anything that would be visible through their armour.

Sweet mother of holy flaming KITTENS no! It’d be the Morrowind → Oblivion Argonian tragedy all over again…
(And this, for the record, is coming from a bloke, and one who’s rather fond of his eye-candy at that. So it’s not just the girls who have a problem with the idea.)
On the same subject, why do female plant creatures have mammaries? “Mammary” is the key attribute for … you guessed it: mammals. Plants are not mammals.

That is because in theory , sylvari were born after the human image in lore , since the one who found and planted the pale tree , was a human. Well a centaur also helped … but first was the human :P

Yeah, I thought that was odd too. Though at least they didn’t give them DD implants like all the humans and Norn.
What I’d rather see then Asura boobs, is maybe make the armor look “slightly” different on the female Asura, and I don’t mean chain mail bikinis.
I count count the time my Asura warrior has been mistaken for a male asura based on the fact that the armor looks exactly the same on the male asura.
I blame alot of this also on the lack of hair options for male and female asura.
They just need to replace some of the armor with female versions. The Asura essentially have three sets of topless armors right now, for both male and female. Each of these could afford to be changed.
Now if the Asura are some kind of species whose male/female parts are largely internal, or who aren’t mammals (and therefore have no breasts), that would make perfect sense. But their styles of underwear along with several pieces of dialogue in the game indicate otherwise.
Either way, doing so would add a few more effeminate armor styles to the asura to appease those who want them, but not eliminate the non-gender-specific aspect some people seem to perceive in asuran culture, even if that aspect is largely imagined.

what kind of forums do you visit where you see discussions about asura boobs all the time?
I think the Asuran females are sexy the way they are, but it wouldn’t hurt to give them breats.
No please no, never.
The asura female design is awesome precisely because it doesn’t use the human-based oversexualization trope (even though they have this horrible makeup for some faces…) Same for the armor, this is what makes asura unique compared to your generic (absurd) fantasy.
As for mistaking a gender for the other, while I don’t understand why being able to tell someone’s gender seem sooooo important for some people, I really have no problem to tell asura females from males. Maybe it’s my artistic background (I have a good memory of shapes) or maybe it’s me spending so much time on character creation that I pretty much recognize every single preset in the game. Even without that the size of the ears makes any mistake almost impossible, especially when it’s so easy to spot.
I believe it’s ok for asuras and charr not to have boobs, I mean they’re not human why would they have human-like breasts.
But from that point of view one could wonder why do sylvari have boobs though… mysteries of life? who knows xD

sylvaris were created on the image of humans, that’s the reason.
and asuras have other things they find “sexy” on a mate… like the ears. but you (TC) are a human, you want boobs. not every race has to be a human reskin.
then again, this thread is rather pointless, there’s no way ANet would add boobs to asuras just because people asked for it.
No please no, never.

If you can’t tell gender, then what is the point of having male and female models?
Some people also did not play around with all the options. During beta I messed around with both male and female models of all races – to see what I liked best.
I like how they look now, I just wish they got the attention the other races got in armor variation based on gender of the character. Instead they copied and passed the male armor over the female.
Like I said, I rather not see chain-mail bikinis, but just slightly different look.

No. If people require that their characters have breasts, they may play a Human or Norn.

can you really only tell a male asura from a female asura through boobs? how do you handle charr then?
the asura race doesn’t have a culture that differentiates gender. they even look somewhat similar, like you pointed out. a female asura would dress just like a male asura would, and that’s why she does. you’ll never see an asura in a skirt, if that’s what you’re wondering.

I am sorry if this sounds rude, but if you actually took the time to read my post. You would have realized the follower.
1) I like how the Asura look currently and by no means support giving female asura boobs.
2) I would like to see a variation in male and female Asura armor specifically in the plate-mail department, to help increase diversity among the two genders.
It rather annoys me when people do not read what I post and claim I said something/support I do not.
Also I think what happen is you miss-took me for someone else on this topic.

no i did read your post, and your very first line makes it sound like you can’t tell males from females, and need some aid to spot the difference.
i pointed out that there is no gender “diversity” as you called it among the asuras, and that having the female asuras dress something different from the males would be silly from a cultural standpoint.
Actually no again, I never said “I cannot tell the difference”. I said in my first post I’ve had people think my Asura was a male. Why, because heavy armor looks the same on both male and female., and most do not know the small differences.
And some how that turned into me only being able to tell male and female asura if female asuras had boobs as you posted. So no you clearly did not read what I wrote.
Also if there was no gender difference in their clothing, then why do they wear different undergarments, have different hair styles? There is evidence there to say that male and female Asura do in-fact have different taste. Like other races.
So again read people’s post…don’t just assume things.
Burn my fur… we don’t need boobs on every. single. non-human. race. Seriously, the trope of sticking breasts on everything is extremely old, worn out, and completely unneeded — especially when the race in question not only is very physically different from humans, the idea of what’s attractive is very different as well.
As a woman, I find the lack of breasts on asura and charr extremely refreshing. It doesn’t make sense for either to have breasts that are visible so adding breasts for the sake of having breasts would just make asura a mockery of their former selves. It’s also about time people got over the idea that everything that’s female — be they mammels, reptiles, aliens, robots, and pretty much anything else — needs to have breasts for them to be considered truly female and/or sexy. If people want eye candy, they have three races to choose from — there’s no point in destroying the aesthetic of an entire race just to give those people one more option while taking away one of two options for those who like the lack of almost uniquely human characteristics on non-human races.
i got it..lets add dwarves, male and female, so people can have there male looking midgets with breast (LotR=the dwarve comments on female dwarves having beards)
keep both worlds happy.
i also miss the Dwarves
On the same subject, why do female plant creatures have mammaries? “Mammary” is the key attribute for … you guessed it: mammals. Plants are not mammals.
The Pale tree was planted ontop of a human grave yard and so it took what it found in the graves and copy it look.
Which is why it also gives birth to those leafy dogs, because dogs was buried their to.
Anet has stated that charr and asura will remain the way they are, they have seen complaints like this and they want them to be the way they are, after all they make the game not you. Anyone else who thinks about wasting their time on this thread don’t and do not make similar ones, Anet will close this thread soon enough.
didn’t have em in GW 1 wont have em in GW2

I’m going to have to agree – and I’m even a male player. I simply like it when a game tries to think outside the human-centric box. As this very thread shows, there are a lot of players who just don’t DO that – they feel an inherent need to understand things in terms of human parallels. (This isn’t even limited to the gaming world – the human mindset IS geared in a very human-centric manner. People resist the thought of true “otherness”. It’s why 99% of aliens in science fiction are humanoid or very close to it.)
There are MANY species in the animal kingdom that do not exhibit visible sexual dimorphism. Even among mammals, there are species that do not look that different between genders. So, it’s not as if Arenanet is doing something that doesn’t have a real-world precedent.
Charr are not “cat humans”. Asura are not “lab rat humans”. Why, then, should they be held to human standards?
I, for one, applaud Arenanet’s willingness to think outside the box on the depictions and attitudes of some of the playable races.
I just want the forums on it to end, I said in my start of the Post I would prefer that all races, no importance of which sex they are should have male armor. It doesn’t make sense for any sex to not cover your vitals.
I personally just want common sense armor.
I’m female IRL and play an Asura.. just.. no.. please.
Thanks for the giggle though I started laughing as soon as I read the title.
I will say though that I would like some more ‘girly’ options in regards to armour for Asura but that’s about it really. Also helms making Asura bald is just.. -shiver-.
As for Sylvari, I wish they had made them less humanoid, More dryad, smaller etc.
Their chunky humanoid size put me off them, I was going to roll one for main till they released them for Beta, Just way too chunky and big for my liking. Not how I imagined them to be from the lore at all. But that’s just me.
• Have you heard of the city? The ancient uru? Where there was power to write worlds •

This.
Personally, the thing that annoys me is the Asura side-toes poking out of the boots.
Can’t they make boots that fit their feet?
I personally just want common sense armor.
there’s plenty of that. there’s also plenty of skimpy male armor.
and you have to take in consideration that females have certain… attributes, that need “special care”.

Special care, most hard shell armors have space for “special care” lol, but exposed stomachs and sternums. Although I agree on the skimpy male armor WTF lol.
^ some people like the tradeoff of mobility > protection. see gladiators and how they fought bare-chested.
Ok, I will give into, the gladiator debate. but most gladiators didn’t farewell against soldiers, hence the the gladiator rebellion in Rome didn’t last very long once the soldiers “got a pair” through Decimation.
But I just need to remember that this is just a game and real physics have nothing to do with fantasy. Ultimately, Asura boobs or not, my real topic was to stop the threads on it, just publish a story stating that they are not human, so one copy and paste or link can end any future threads for all Asura and Charr breast forums.
BTW I am a guy IRL and I prefer to see real ones as opposed to virtual.

like another poster, i wonder what the heck forums you go to where there is all this talk and pleading for asuras and charr to have humanoid breasts. i certainly haven’t see a massive amount of threads about it on the official forums.

GW2 Guru, IGN, GAMEFAQS, ETC. I have my accounts to email me whenever there is a new treads about GW2 as well as some other interests. So yes they are out there, I just happen to see a lot of them. There are some awesome threads out there too. There just happens to be a few too many on the subject that needs to end.

That’s because gladiatorial armor was designed for only marginal protection in the first place. It is purpose-built for show purposes. But not the showing of skin – the showing of blood. What the people came to see.
Also, Malleus? Even if you show people on those forums an official statement by Arenanet, it will NOT put an end to anything.
wow just reading this is kinda sad… what’s next? Zhaitan getting boobs in next expansion? They’re creatures and you want boobs on that hahaha what a load of fail.
This will simple not happen.
Reason?
Atm in the game , you can pick not to use asura if this is a feature you “need/want” , simple as that , you can pass on the race and pick other , you can then ask for them to add it.
IF they add this , tons(im 100% sure would the majority) , think you just broke their chars … literally , they made A (sometimes spend hours making that one perfect char like me) and you made A become B … you destroyed the char.
What would happen in that case? Tons of players , not asking , but demanding a race change to be implemented , simple cause Anet made a MAJOR change to race. Now ask yourself , what are the chances of Anet adding a race change?
So unless you believe that race changes are coming , better stop believing this is.
There isn’t ‘female armors’ in real life because there were not many female warriors.
But if females fought as much as males during the times when breastplates were used, they would have been shaped to accommodate breasts.
Why? Because getting punched there hurts, and round shapes are better at absorbing hits than flat surfaces. So female warriors would have bought armors shaped to, at least in the inside, protect the breasts from being squashed under the pressure of the entire breastplate by being hollowed around there.
As for asura, they are not human. We don’t even know if they are mammals at all.
Female ogres and ettin do not have protruding breasts either and they are the ones that are most similar to asura structurally, as they have also short legs, long arms, sharp teeth and 3 fingers with thick, bony nails in their feet.
For all we know they could reproduce by spores or something.

You should stop reading whatever forums this topic is commonly brought up on.
“There isn’t ‘female armors’ in real life because there were not many female warriors.”
This statement is incorrect. Joan of Arc and Elizabeth I are two I can think of off the top of my head who were real women who definitely did not wear chainmail bikinis. Ok, so you said “not many female warriors” and that part is true but there is real female armor worn by real women.
Also, a fantasy character I can think of who did not wear skimpy armor was Eowyn.
I have 4 female asura characters that I love but I did make 2 female humans so I can wear ‘pretty" clothes. This doesn’t mean I want skimpy armor, I just want feminine armor. Wish my asura could look a little more girly. Heck, I’d settle for girly town clothes!

you forgot Boudica.
If you want to get into myth i could write a 20 page essay on it but im not gonna do that .
You know guys, I heard rumors that ArenaNet are hiring the team of guys who made the breasts in “Blade and Soul” to add bouncy breasts to all the characters of Guild Wars 2 (even males have option to turn them on and off). It’s apparently coming in the December update, so stay tuned! Your prayers have been answered!
I find hard know if an Asura is Female or Male, also Happens with Sylvari. I mean, Err, it’s really hard! Even Humans with all armor set, bah I will call them “Hey Human”, and it’s done.
Asura thing.
