Good and Evil
So no one else is interested in prolonging and epic battle of good and evil in wvw? sadface
Guild Wars characters are all Heroes of Good (within the context of their culture).
No evil characters.
And I hope that never, ever changes.
What you’re asking for IS AN ENTIRE SECOND FREAKING GAME!!!!!!!!! Every game that has opposing factions, which is what you’re suggesting really, has almost double the content, and since GW2 doesn’t have any real neutral factions, there would be no quests or areas that cross over. It would take an entire second game. Never…..going…….to happen.
The Lost Shores should have stayed lost.
Pretty much what they said. What you’re suggesting is creating a horde counterpart of the alliance. It’s been done, and was a big reason why ANet decided against opposing factions in the first place. They built this game around teamwork and community, which is lost the second you make a separate game for another team.
Just because it is too large and encompassing does not mean it will “never happen”. Ideas are ideas and it peeked my interest while doing the story line. Most likely it wont happen in this game because as you said it would double/triple the content. So I was throwing it out there to put fuel on the fire of maybe an expansion.
As far as the horde and alliance attachment, honestly I was connecting it to EQ2 with the good/evil/neutral groups of character races that players could be. There was even a quest that let you change factions, but it was long and tedious.
I really wish people could break the paradigm of all MMOs are WoW, because there are many more better and interesting ones that have come before and after WoW.
As far as team work, it is still teamwork but within that faction. IE WvWvW there are people still fighting with each other in the spirit of competition and to gain benefits for your world(faction).
Do I honestly think this will happen? No, but more ideas could spark from it and in a suggestion board you all shouldn’t be so quick to shut thing down
that would be too much work.
no. do not support.
If you were able to play a character such as an undead, then in theory this should exlude large areas of the map to you. If you venture into any area where one of the current races are predomenant, or any of the cities then you would/should immediately be attacked and killed. If not then what would the point of having storylines where you have to stop the invading hordes of undead from over running places, either in your personal story or in events, if the next time you visit LA or Divinity there are undead walking down the streets without anyone giving them a second glance.
I dont support this at all.

And that’s only ONE of the reasons why this game sucks.
The game is about playing you as the hero against the ultimate evil of the Elder Dragons.
While each race has a certain amount of excellent grey area in terms of storytelling and society, Anet will never change the protagonist from being a hero. That’s like…a fundamental part of their design.
Factions wouldn’t work in GW2 either.
This game just isn’t designed that way.

Umm….no one said anything about horde and alliance….except you.
The Lost Shores should have stayed lost.

LoreChief.8391Pretty much what they said. What you’re suggesting is creating a horde counterpart of the alliance

As far as the rest of the feedback from the idea, I get that the majority of players want to be the “hero” in this demographic. I have seen this in other responses on posts about how they enjoyed the story line until they lost focus and Trehern became the marshal of the Pact instead of you.
So that said it does not seem like anyone IS interested in expanding the idea of conflict and WvWvW other than it is there for the sake of being there. I personally really feel that having objectives and meaning behind “why” we are fighting make something more immersive and it also helps carry forward from story line game play into competitive goal oriented WvWvW combat.
Yes this would make a good chunk of the world unaccessible for any “evil” races and no this would not be easy to create or implement as it stands now.
I think if I would have posted this in another section it might have gained more ground say the pvp forums where a lot of players talk about eSports and how to make this game competitive.
Regardless, failed idea and as many of you point out won’t happen and no support, but I don’t think it is a bad idea that would have negative impact for the game, just not an easy addition is all.
I don’t care who you are. I am evil in game. I ride on the back of jormag to lay waste to your pathetic and puny lives.
When the claw has fallen, I scurry off in an attempt to resurrect my fallen comrade to wreak havoc a couple hours later.

Ah. Didn’t see that one. My apologies.
As for the eSports thing, you don’t need story elements like good vs evil for people to latch onto it. As soon as something gets on eSports, it takes off regardless of story elements.
The Lost Shores should have stayed lost.
In other words, the OP wants to turn GW2 into WoW .

Until you took an arrow in the knee. =?
We should have a Heart quest where we kill Eda instead of killing her spiders. Evil people don’t kill spiders, they kill people.
We should have a Dynamic event where we escort bandits to set barns on fire.
We should have a dynamic event where we kill Kodans. Sons
You aren’t suggesting anything small, this is affecting the entire game.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
They could always add a monster mode type pvp like lord of the rings online had. You could play as an orc or goblin or whatever on that mode. They could the same thing with players being risen or sons of svanir or whatever.
Furthermore, the “evil” side is ALWAYS more popular.
Always.
Furthermore, the “evil” side is ALWAYS more popular.

I know right?
Fluctuates a lot depending on what you pick first. =>
It tends to stabilize after a long while.
But usually, when you have evil + good, it’s like 90% go Evil, then some start going to good, and in the end you have something like 40% good, 60% evil, or worse.
And let’s face it, playing the bad guy is less usual, and as such a more attractive thing to do on your free time.
Maybe ANet could make it kind of like City of Heroes and City of Villains, where the Evil-side would indeed be a different World, different Game, bought separately, using the same areas, but changed in a way that you are playing the other side – separatists, etc.
Essentially, there would be no good players vs evil players in PvE, it’d be a good world and evil world, and then there might be WvWvW where a few good worlds are pitted against a few evil worlds.
i would love if charr went to war with humans! i would make a charr only guild and march my bloodthirsty warband into kryta and raid the place to its knees lol but i doubt this will happen. GW2 is too far into the lore for this too happen, Charrs went soft
Doesn’t help that the charr failed to take one freaking city for 200 years. I doubt they’d succeed at getting past the centaurs, TBH.
