Jump-Shoot and Character Inspection
Indeed character inspection is a great idea.
In a game that emphasizes dynamic combat it’s silly that you can’t fight while jumping.
Come on Anet, WoW is the one getting bashed for turret combat and even it has jump and fight option.
I heavily oppose anonymous character inspections, unless it’s on a request-only basis, and you have the option to disable requests.
You don’t get to see my gear unless I decide to show you.

I heavily oppose ANY kind of character inspections, EVEN if it’s on a request-only basis and you have the option to disable requests.
Why? Because it WILL become common praactice to be forced to ALLOW inspection before getting into groups/guilds.
Check the kitten elitist mentality in most of the community in WoW and D3, and you get the picture.
@Nurvus GW2 isnt a game where gear really matters.. i mean, sure you’ll be able to do more damage, take more hits with better gear, but you can still make do. Unlike other mmos Anet has actually done a good job at making gear open to a wide range of ppl and different play prefs.
@Shifted – thats exactly my point. thank you sir.
As to not wanting inspection, would u rather have ppl constantly asking you “what [insert item name] is that?” or let have a quick look and move on. It’s an mmo, you’re supposed to help ppl out and point them in the right direction.
Make ‘Inspect’ a context menu option. Make ‘Allow Inspection’ a check box in the Options that is unchecked by default. Problem solved, everyone happy.

Exactly. Totally agree. Inspection only encourages elitism. If you want to know what skins someone has that you admire so much, ask them.
as mentioned before, gear is completely trivial in gw2. its so similar across the board that there isnt much to be an elitist about. on top of that, the fact that every single profession is incredibly dynamic and there isnt the entire trinity system, it opens the possibility to gear and spec more or less how you want, or what works for your playstyle.
when i was using 80 rare gear i was doing almost as much damage and able to take almost as much damage as i do with my exotic set. this isnt like wow where if you’re say a warrior and you’re not speccing into strength you’re not going to have a good time. the simplistic stats mean that there are no such things as any of this. if you want to be a glass cannon, there’s a build for all the classes to do that. if you want to balance defense and offense, there’s a build for all the classes and a set of stats you would want for that.
the only thing anyone can even be remotely elitist about this game is skill. since gear is so more or less the same, the only thing that’s really left is individual ham handedness, and there isn’t any real way to inspect that. gw2 isnt a game that’s really about knowing stats, but rather knowing your class, knowing what abilities do what and knowing how the combat system works. i don’t see a problem with being able to inspect in gw2.
