Mastered crafting professions always usable
I, also, don’t see the reason behind this mechanic. Why do we have to pay 40s each time we want to change to a profession we have mastered? I have mastered 4 professions, wanted to master all but this cost of changing profession stopped me to do so. It feels like I am being punished to be a master of all the professions and I don’t even know the reason behind. If a gold sink needs to be placed in this area, 40s is not reasonable price here.
In FFXI you could master all the classes and the professions in just one char and switch between them easily without a cost. I don’t think that ruined any part of the game.
I don’t agree on mastering more than 2 professions on a single charcater to be honest. Everybody can have all the crafting on a single character making it less unique.

People to begin with can simple toss 2 crafts on every char , that includes lvl 2 alts they just made , for no loss. So less unique? not really , there is this easy system to master all 8 with 0 cost to change.

yes, and log-in / log-out every time you need something. Doable for hardcore, most casual are so lazy that this alone can stop them from doing all the crafting profession.
Also it’s too easy to master a crafting profession (I forgot to wrote it before)
Crafting should be account-wide.
The only thing I see as a problem is crafting XP.
When a character reaches 400 and learns all common discoverable recipes (not those with unlocked recipes and no festival or legendary-related recipes), they should get an account-bound craftsmanship token from the respective Master than can be used by any character so that discipline does not use one of the two discipline slots, and they can use the crafting station without picking that discipline as one of their two mains.
In the hero panel, the dropdown list will show with yellow name the currently selected ones, and with white names any crafting discipline for which they know at least one recipe.
In exchange, using the crafting station while it’s not one of the two mains won’t earn neither crafting nor character XP, they’ll be able to use the discovery panel only for the selected ones.
That way a character can still focus on two at a time, progressing in those two, but still use the others, so you can have other characters getting the tokens for a main character with which you aim to learn them all, to the point that you’ll be able to use all crafting stations with a single character, but switching which ones.
You’ll only have to switch your mains when you want to progress or discover recipes.
