More Stat Combinations On Weapons & Armour Sets?

Having browsed through most, if not all, of the end game equipment while trying to find my ideal gear for each of my characters; I’ve become quite disheartened from aiming towards exotic gear on many of them because of a lack of some pretty useful stat combinations on items.

Would it be so bad if we had a bit more choice in our gear? We have multiple dungeon sets with the exact same stats (I’m aware there are aesthetic differences, but that’s what transmutation stones are for), while some combinations simply don’t exist. For example, there are plenty of + power, precision and condition damage; yet no + vitality, toughness and healing power – if we can spec for all out damage, why can’t we do so for survivability? Why does + magic find only appear in offensive gear?

I know asking for every combination would be a bit silly; and asking for the choice of which of the three stats had the higher value would be borderline insane – but surely a few more ‘common sense’ options would be possible? It’s not like a new dungeon needs to be created to facilitate the sets with these stats – just add a few more crafting recipes and pin gear on to existing merchants.

Or perhaps, fruit for thought, a system where upon buying armour from a dungeon/karma merchant, a window pops up asking you to choose which three stats you want on it. Probably more appropriate for a rework with a new expansion than a small update, but I thought I’d put it out there anyways.

I apologise if a similar thread has been made, or perhaps hundreds of them, but I’ve had issues being able to post up until now and a lot of threads have been created since I wanted to suggest this… far too many for me to read without my brain melting.

I think MF’ing should only be available in offensive gear.
That way, you’re more likely to die, but at least you contribute to an event.

I say this because by having MF you are hurting the team’s performance while actually getting better loot than the rest.
If you have MF + defensive stats, you’re hurting the group even more, by contributing even less.

With MF only available in offensive gear, at least you have the ability to contribute decently, and more responsibility to keep yourself alive, otherwise you will be hurting your profit by getting repair costs.

Personally, I think + magic find on gear was a mistake to begin with, but since it’s here – it might as well be worked in. As for the specific comments on that particular stat, is pure offense the only way to contribute? Surely offering it with + healing power would offer a more visible contribution than pure defence – but would vitality or toughness even be that bad when paired with it? Surely not taking up everyone’s AoE heals or dying all the time would be beneficial to the team, along with taking a few hits for other and general support skills.

Aside from that specific example, there’s still the many other missing combinations.

I’d love to have more options for stat combinations. Power/vit/prec would be a great one for my ele. Actually, I just can’t seem to find anything with both prec and vit on the same gear.

I think ANet is a little concerned that certain combinations like Power/Precision/Vitality might become too popular.

They want you to mix and match gear-sets, to crunch numbers, test stuff and then conclude your optimal results.

That said, I’m not opposed to the idea. I’m also agree that Magic Find could be found on other gear as well.

I think the Auora, Nightmare and Svanir light sets have + precision and vitality; but sadly have + healing power as the main stat. This is the main issue that I have with the sets – you’ll end up with something that you don’t particularly want.

I wholeheartedly agree that some combinations will become too popular, such as the glass cannon + power, precison and critical damage/condition damage that we already have multiple examples of. Even so, if some combinations would be used much more often than the others; why give us the strange ones instead?

As for mixing and matching, my point in my reply to Navzar creeps back: leftover points in stats that you don’t particularly want – while other playstyles don’t have to suffer from this.

Sorry if I seemed a bit critical in that response, but I find typing out these things helps me to see any improvements or glaring mistakes in my suggestions. I appreciate you not being opposed to the idea and the issue/work around that you raised there.
