P/D to D/P shouldn't require 4 weapons
+1 for the luls
Why? Gives needed gear…
Why do you need this gear? To do dungeons… duh.
I agree with you it would be realistic.
However, it should never be made possible.
Why? Well see it in terms of balance – It would allow Warriors and Thieves to have a huge advantage in terms of equipment, since they would only need to obtain 1 set of weapons to play at full power.
It would allow Warriors and Thieves to become fully geared sooner than other professions.
Only Warriors and Thieves are able to wield 2 or more types of weapons in both hands.
- Mesmers can only use Swords in both hands.
- Rangers can only use Axes in both hands.
- Necromancers can only use Daggers in both hands.
- Engineers can only use Pistols in both hands.
Thieves have no recharge times, so the advantages would include versatility and Condition stacking, but Warriors would essentialy be able to chain 10+ skills just by swapping hands.
It just isn’t fair, sorry.

Sorry Nurvus but your argumentation doesn’t work, because…
Eles and Engineers are broken! They only need 1 weapon set instead of 2, so they are fully geared sooner than other professions. This is basiclly the logic conclusion, of what you said.
The rest of what you said, also doesn’t work, because Warriors and Thieves already can do all this. They only need 4 weapons to do so, so if they have these 4 weapons they are already broken without the suggestion.
So we can agree Eles, Engeneers, Warriors and Thieves are broken… With or without the ability to swap the main to the off hand and vice versa.
Imo it is a very good suggestions, so +1.
I agree — if a player wants to take up both weapon sets with the same two weapons in different hands, he should only have to acquire one of each weapon. It isn’t a question of bag space because equipped weapons don’t take up space, so I’m not sure why it works the way it does to begin with.
I only really seem to find guardians in 2hd sword, sometimes staff flavors, and they seem to do ok.
Yeah, because in combat, in the middle of attacking, you can totally just throw your weapons in the air, and catch them in opposite hands?
Wait, why not allow a ranger to weapon swap from his Greatsword to a Longbow, without having a Longbow equiped. He’d just run a string from the hilt to the tip of his greatsword, hold it by the blade, and it would be exactly the same thing as a bow.
So shines a good deed in a naughty world.

It isn’t juggling chainsaws on a trapzee here, but anyways yes, you can move one object from one hand into another.

I also agree with the OP. I see no reason why a character should have to buy two identical sets of weapons just to effectively switch which hand is which weapon. The system is already set up to allow switching of off-hand item only and keep main-hand item unchanged, why not make it so that weapon sets are defined rather than equipped when choosing weapons in the hero screen, and are actually equipped through the weapon swapping system in the game map?
@Nurvus, yandere is correct, your argument is not logical. The issue here is that characters can already achieve the same number of skills with a simple weapon swap either way. The only difference is if they have to have 2 weapons to do it, or 4. While it is true that in the case of legendary weapons, a character could fully gear up sooner if they only have to get 2 legendary weapons instead of 4, it is also true that an elementalist that has no weapon swapping can get access to 20 different skills with only one legendary weapon. Presently, pretty much any character with any choice of weapon sets can achieve full gear with 1 to 4 weapons depending on class and weapon choices made, and almost never have to buy duplicate items to achieve it. But a warrior or thief who wants to use a set that is essentially just a change of which weapon is in which hand is effectively forced to buy duplicates under the current system. There is no balance issue here with respect to the power or number of skills a character could unleash if they were able to swap weapon hands instead of having to swap full weapons.

Wait, why not make armor swapping to armor sets that you don’t have too? Really, you want the ability to fill four equipment slots with two items, and that’s just not good.
So shines a good deed in a naughty world.
