Pets & Turrets no longer count for loot tagging
I think turrets and pets should count as long as their owner personally attacked something in the last few seconds.
Because it’s not uncommon for a skilled Ranger to attack target A and send pet to attack target B.
If ANet doesn’t want that to be possible, make pet always attack your target no matter what.
Pets and turrrets are a part of the arsenal we are given. It’s like saying, okay your an elementalist but your aoes can only tag 2 targets at a time.
If they are going to give us those skills, we are going to use them to our advantage.
Should we use them to kill everything for us? NO!
Should we be able to set up a turret and afk? NO!
Should we be allowed to use our skills to tactical advantage? YES.
Put turrets on timers (1-2 minutes) and a range recall. Move out of 1000 meters, turret recalls.
And stow pets after a 1-2 minutes of movement inactivity. Since pets stay with their owners, there is no issue with leaving your pet behind and going elsewhere.
The other suggested fixes would work for me as well. My main issue is that at the moment, you can get banned for something that isn’t that obviously wrong. If turrets last indefinitely, then why not leave active while you go afk and have lunch? It’s a game feature after all to have them last forever, not some third party bot. When you think about it longer, it makes sense of course. However, it feels counterintuitive being banned for using options given by the game itself.
Having your own personal bodyguard is one of the reasons I like pets so much, yet it seems under the current rule system, my pet would actually ‘kill me’. So I’d rather have the loot/exp capped in some way, so I won’t have this happen to me accidently.
The main thing I want fixed is for people to be banned accidently by the automated banning programs that Anet has running atm.
I like the idea of the pet/turrets simply not tagging a kill if the owner has been afk for say 5 minutes. But the idea that a pet/turret would NEVER tag an enemy is horrible.
It’s like zaxziakohl said, having your pets/turrets not counting towards kills is just ridiculous, it’s like telling a class they will only get credit for the kill if they hit the enemy with a weapon skill, everything else doesn’t count – kind of not so great.
