It won’t be. That would make the entire election pointless. As much as I’m kitten ed off Gnashblade didn’t win, especially after seeing the Heralds say he did, we’ll have to just live with the fact we’ll never see it.

I’d prefer a later release similar to the Bonus Mission Pack in the first Guild Wars. It could include the binding of Abaddon and other epic moments in Guild Wars history.

I thought Gnashblade had pretty cool dialogue. He has snaz.

Well, I voted for Kiel because I like the idea of a Thaumanova fractal better, but I totally subscribe this. It would be amazing to have both fractals.

You’re fighting for the wrong cause here, original poster. Fractals are supposed to be quick (~10 minute) adventures that aren’t even consider lore canon. Do you really want to try and shove your dream for an Abaddon story into that?

You’re better off asking for a Bonus Mission Pack that covers the events surrounding Abaddon’s fall, (like the excellent bonus mission pack we had in the original Guild Wars). That would be much more appropriate for the epic saga you’re likely envisioning. A 10 minute fractal would never be able to tell that story well.

I’m honestly upset about the results. Most Kiel supporters I’ve come across only voted for the reduced waypoint costs. It’s stupid and shallow.

Evon voters pretty much only voted for the Abaddon fractal. That has to say something.

Gw2 lore was is weak compared to gw1. Now to bring the most important gw1 moment EVER into a frac, i have my doubts. They cannot make this fractal, and the personalization of the Gods, so correct/perfect, that players will be satisfied lore wise. So trust me, it’s rather a good thing this isnt happening. I rather have my own interpretation of what happened, then a fail-fractals.

Haha, La chat. So many threats of assassination to Ellen its ridiculous. Support for the “Knight in shining armor” Ellen was almost non-existent in my eyes.

The problem is as stated above that GW2 Lore so far is bad. Subpar – and I’m not alone when saying we want some of the old GW1 lore back.
90% of the cool stuff in GW2 has something to do with stuff that came from GW1.

ALSO – these elections should have been about candidates ( in which case i preferred Kiel) not content. Content and NPCs are very different and I fear mixing them was a mistake.

I’d love to see the Fall of Abaddon explored, but a fractal was never the ideal place for that to happen.

Ya i agree it would of been a great addition to the game and would of felt unique to the gw2 world itself purely from a visual standpoint. The reactor could bring many cool things into gw2 even a mini fight with the jungle dragon as he rampages towards maguuma but i just don’t see it as being unique when we already know it will involve an area already in game(just destroyed), an enemy in game, and look similar to the tons of other inquest areas in the game. Abaddon would mean a god which we don’t have in gw2 and probably the margonites, the crystal sea, the forgotten and the other gods all of which will probably never been seen in gw2 besides the forgotten. So i just feel like having the abaddon fractal would feel more unique than having another asuran/inquest part of the game.

It would be nice if they at least made it into a full fledged dungeon or something later because a fractal might to small for them to provide a good amount of lore and some good fights to remember. A dungeon would also be more fun to repeat than a small fractal.

I get fractals isn’t canon, but would’ve been cool regardless to get a different setting than another asura influenced fractal (uncategorized). I doubt they’ll release some sort of living story regarding any past lore from GW1, so this was that chance to see abaddon’s downfall even if it might not have been what exactly happened

The problem is that the scale and lore in this game is so toned down – i’ll take anything just because they’ve got nothing good to offer. Haven’t had anything epic in months.

Dredge, pirates and now blown up asuran experiments…sad. How about something cool for a change?

Also – what’s the deal with the NPC announcing Evon then Kiel?

I want more than just a fractal, I want a whole month dedicated to the awesomeness that is Abaddon! I priests on the streets telling the story of his fall (and letting us relive it that way), I want the other races to understand how much influence that guy had, how he was way more powerful than any of the dragons and I want little Abaddon masks!

I have a feeling that the reason the Herald said Evon won, was not a bug, but was to prevent people from voting more for Evon, since confidently people felt “he already won!”

I wholeheartedly agree with OP – people want Fall of Abbadon fractal! It would be awesome if this idea was not scrapped. ArenaNet has a license to do tons of awesome stuff with fractals, and visiting cool moments in Tyrian history is something I think players would appreciate.

As a thought, here are a few other ideas that I think would be cool:
1. Seer vs. Mursaat (bring back the Mursaat!);
2. Extinction of the Lupicus;
3. Destiny’s Edge vs. Kralkatorrik;
4. First Human-Charr war and establishment of Ascalon;
5. Coming of the humans to Tyria;
6. Margonites vs. Forgotten.

The list can go on. The point is – bring the history of Tyria to life! Start by making the Fall of Abbadon fractal!

we should get it just for the sake of having more fractals. there aren’t enough as it is. im sick of doing the same 3 or 4. but i agree they would likely ruin it. its as if they shot all of the gw1 lore people and brought in monkeys at typewriters to do the gw2 lore. so now we have the flavor of the month enemy, a dragon.

Yeah most ppl voted for Evon just because of Abaddon Fractal. Bring it on!
Maybe not the fractal itself… some sort of a dungeon with Nightfall lore would do.
Think a lot of ppl miss Domain of Anguish elite mission It was THAT great and deserves to be in the sequel.

People should have been able to vote for the fractals independently from the candidate chosen. As it is, fractal users got screwed by people who don’t care a bit about fractals.

Except that a Dev who was working on one of the fractals said they wouldn’t be releasing both at this time.

So when we get Thaumanova, we will NOT get Abbadon’s Fall.

It’s a sad thing though. I wish we could have had the one cool fractal. the one cool thing in all the election promises.

You know what the worst part of it is?
The uninformed casuals that mass voted for Kiel won’t probably be here a year from now.
The lore-loving players will still be around, and still be affected by the consequences of this vote here today. That’s really sad.

To clarify a bit:
I would have voted Kiel as well. She’s bland, not very great and kinda boring but she’s a HUMAN. The only reason I even bothered voting Evon was that fractal.
The fact that they stuck GW1 Human Gods lore to Evon made me really conflicted on what I should do. Vote for the human, or vote for the human lore.
To some extent I’m glad Kiel won, at least the charr didn’t take it. And yes -i’m biased against the charr. Anyone who’s played GW1 and loved the heck out of it will be forever broken in this way.

Nope, played GW1 and loved it, but I also like the Charr. More than the humans in fact, since I never liked Ascalon to beginn with (and I started to actually dislike it with EotN). The only good human nation of Tyria was Kryta, but it was ascalonified in GW2… whitewashed you could say. That’s not the tribal, subtropical Kryta I fell in love with. With Cantha and Elona not being available, I can honestly say I like the Charr way more than the humans currently in the game.
How much I wish I could see the wonders of Elona though… what a magical, beautiful place it was.

Asura aren’t as smart as they are and blew something up. Again. There I just saved you the 20 minute fractal run.

I know it’s a pipe dream but I definitely want to see this fractal made, or if not a fractal, some other way to see the fall of Abaddon in game that we can interact in (IE not just a cutscene). The idea of a Bonus Mission Pack like solo activity would work as well.

This is just an event in Tyrian history that has DEFINED so much of Tyrian History thakittens a real shame it’ll never be realized.

Literally the most important thing in Tyrian RECORDED history aside from the Gods bringing the Humans to Tyria and Abaddon teaching the Humans magic and the creation of the bloodstones. That sequence of events. Humans coming to Tyria, Abaddon’s gift of Magic, Doric’s plea and the creation of the Bloodstones, and Abaddon’s fall and the Exodus, are the 4 most important events in Tyrian recorded history, followed by the Searing/Cataclysm, and Nightfall, and the Awakening of the Elder Dragons.

What we should really have a fractal of is one that looks into the election and its aftermath. Since fractals can contain alternate realities that haven’t actually occurred we would be able to see Kiel’s, Evon’s, Skritt King’s, and many other potential candidates take the council seat. We would then simply have to wait about 4 months inside the fractal (or we could possibly build a time machine) for Tessa to finish her research and then run FotM inside that particular fractal.

true, they made evon very bad and the BL keys isn’t really a thing, I mean, he’s the owner of BLTC, shouldn’t have been 10% of the item your selling instead of 15, that would’ve made more sense, they made him very unlikable and he still got a lot of supporters, anywho, if anyone says fractals are supposed to be short what about dredge, it’s harder and longer than most dungeons, hell if it was just a dungeon people would’ve demanded 3g when finishing it.

This would go against the entire concept of the player choices in the game having game changing permanence. Remember, they didn’t just say ’You’ll get this if X NPC wins!‘, they said, in words from the respective NPC more or less, that ’they’ll fund research into *fractal*’.

To top that off, I’m beginning to think that the 48% from Gnashblade isn’t as grand as people are trying to make it out to be, because everyone I know that voted on Kiel, threw some tokens Gnashblade’s way for buttons to do the Achievements.

I wonder what the percent would be if that was taken out of the equation?

That’s just the problem.
This game should be made BY the developers. They should decide what goes in and what doesn’t. Not some rich guy who decides to vote one way or another.
The fact that you could pay for votes is a problem – you’re allowing economically powerful individuals to have a huge impact on an IN-game world. In a sense it’s turning into " pay so that whatever content you want put in the game gets put in the game".

I have no problem with paying for skins or trinkets – but this is different. Their choice of fractal is something that will impact the game permanently. You, me and everybody else will have to play through the Tahumanova reactor fractal just because some people voted that way. And because some paid for it.
The same would have been true if Evon had won.

NPCs shouldn’t be mixed with content. Paying shouldn’t be an option when deciding what content gets in the game and what content doesn’t.

@blurry – 48% is a big deal. Evon voters also threw tokens Kiel’s way for the achievements – so it balances out since the margins were so close.
You need 3-4 tokens for the achieves and the final poll came down to millions of votes. It simply doesn’t factor in like that. Evon got 48% because people WANTED that kitten fractal.

Well, the average, non-farming, person threw in some 1-200 support tokens. Out of these there were about 3-5 tokens to the other candidate for achievements, and the rest to their candidate of choice. And this is the average non-farming people; i know many who put in 500+ or more. How big an influence would these 3-5 tokens for achievements have? I think 1% or less.

Think things through before you post stupid stuff.
