Scratch cutscenes, keep immersion.
I agree. Cutscenes should never interrupt gameplay. It destroys the immersion and it’s extremely annoying when you’re in the middle of something like typing in chat-box, or sorting inventory etc.
There are specific moments when it’s safe to play a cutscene e.g. immediately after loading screen but before you are in the game (or even playing the cutscene whilst the game is loading).
Totally agree, though suggestions is the correct forum
I agree with the OP 100%. This is actually one of my biggest gripes… I’m typing something in chat and BOOSH… cut scene. -_-
I would take this one step further and say the same thing about the dialog cut scenes. There were a few times in the story where it showed the characters in game and a discussion was going on and I felt that was much better and more immersive then when it goes to the two character discussion cut scene.
I dread anything that takes the control away from the players.
The narrative of the colossus fractal is great.
If all of the story quests had been like that I think I would have enjoyed them a lot more.
However, another problem would arise and that would be repetition.
As you’d most likely be unable to skip a lot of the story sections.
I’d like to add maybe there could be something in options to turn cut scenes off? That would be nice.
Keeping the “talking” cut scenes are fine, but the cinematic ones IMO are terrible. All cinematic cut scenes should be like the colossus.
Agree 100%, giant fractal ending was perfect example of what the game should be like for immersion.

This! So many times during the story Trahearne is giving a speech and then all of a sudden the dialogue scene kicks in and im thinking….WHY?! The scenes have some awesome artwork but once youve seen a couple they start getting annoying. Id much rather a standard cut scene with the camera doing its rounds, focusing on certain characters as they speak. The dialogue scenes for me are a big immersion breaker.
Retired and living in a shack. Relaxing!
Agree. The dialog cutscenes especially must be the most stupid things ever invented. “Hey, instead of having the characters speak their mind in the open world, let’s put them standing in a talking heads cutscene totally out of context”.
Whoever thought about that should be fired. Freeze the player in place near the NPCs if you’re worried about that.
