1.) New Playable Race: The Tengu
2.) New Playable Class: The Assassin. A take on the Thief who is built around the Rifle and Bows (Rifle, Pistol, Bows, Dagger) for long-range assassinations on targets doing massive damage quickly and silently from a distance with long cooldown and charge-up times. In close combat can equip pistol(s) and dagger(s) to help make a getaway.
3.) “New” region: a return to Cantha from Guild Wars Factions. That was one of my favorite lands to visit in the first Guild Wars along with the region from Nightfall. They had such wild variation to what was standard in Kryta.


Now that Zhaitan is dead, there are more elder dragons that rise up to want to avenge their brother’s death. There are 3 who form a pact of their own to take over the fringe areas to re-create a stronghold to make another offense on Kryta. Your job is obviously to stop it. The Risen return as well as some new “undead” enemy types to add more flavor to the enemy you are fighting

I’d love to read what some people’s ideas are for where they’d like to see the story to go to from here in the future updates/expansions.

I made several suggestions regarding expansions: one for Cantha, one for Elona, in this thread:

I did not include plot ideas, mostly because I wanted to keep to 2 posts, and I kinda reached the limit on both of them.

That being said, I think it’s highly unlikely the Assassin profession will be added, as it is too similar to Thief.
Same kind of weapons, same kind of equipment.

Instead, I proposed that some of the “missing” Assassin concepts be added to the Thief arsenal – Lead+Offhand+Dual Strike combos, etc.

Same deal with Paragon concepts (chants, echos, etc) added to Guardian, along with Spear and lightning-based skills.

The professions I think can be added – because they’re clearly different from the others in the GW2 – are Dervish (Elona) and Ritualist (Cantha).
As for races, I agree with Tengu for Cantha, not sure about Elona.

Weapons: Scythe, Kama (one-handed Scythe), Javelin (one-handed Spear), Spear (useable in Land), Greataxe (two-handed Axe), Orb (two-handed, for most casters, useable in Land) and Whip (one-handed, for rangers, mesmers and dervish)

Also suggested weapon subtypes, wich are weapons of the same type with slightly different skills, like Katana vs Sword vs Scimitar and Nodachi vs Greatsword vs Falchion.

I also think each expansion should have focus on all regions.
So if Cantha is introduced, Tyria shouldn’t be ignored.
When Elona is introduced, Cantha and Tyria shouldn’t be ignored.

So my thinking is: They go to Cantha seeking allies to help solve problems in Tyria,, but also find new dangers in Cantha.
Same deal with Elona.

Weapons :
Cross bow : Theif ( Long range consistent damage ), Guardian (Damage, Burning, traveling threw allies provides buffs ), Ranger ( PvP weapon .. because COOMMMOOONNN), Engi ( Exploding shots w/ slight pushback, Laser sight maybe or scope ? )

Pistols : Mes gets main hand pistol ( normal “good for me bad for you” boon/condition )

Swords : Ele and necro get main hand sword

Ritualist : Heals/Buff/Dps
Staff, Dagger (1h,2h), focus, sword (1h)

Heirlooms/Spirit Weapons : Similar to Ele with spiritual Touch
Rituals : Summon spirits / provide aoe effects
Spirit Forms : Take on spirit form similar to necro spectral
Urn/Ashes : Similar to Guardian Elite / AoE Buffs

Edit 1 : Underline + Bold
Edit 2 : Rit Weapons

I think ANET has already implemented those combos in the form of chain skills

My thoughts on the next expansion mainly focus on the question “Which dragon should we fight next ?”

We have 4 choices:
Bubbles, the deep sea dragon. We don’t know much about this one. I’d guess it’s the one we will go to Cantha to fight and there will be a lot of underwater combat.

Jormag. It’s minions don’t look that interesting and I don’t really care for the look of corrupted ice. But it’s probably going to involve a lot of EOTN places, so could have a lot of nostalgic locations.

Kralkatorrik. I really like the look of the dragonbrand and branded creatures, so things should look nice. However it it probably going to be in Elona. I’ve already got my fill of undead from Zhaitan’s minions, so I’d like ANET to hold of on Joko’s forces for a bit. Also, I find that desert sections are generally my least liked areas of games featuring desert and non-desert areas. Not because I dislike deserts, but because they often come with other parts that I dislike., making it an unusual coincidence.

Primordus. The underground dragon of destroyers. I really hope ANET does something with the terrain around his forces other than rock and lava.

Nah, chain skills are nothing like Assassin combos.
Assassin had the potential for multiple different combos
One of my favorite examples was:
- Golden Phoenix Strike (off hand attack, must be enchanted, doesn’t require a lead attack)
- Repeating Strike (off hand attack, requires off hand attack)
- Horns of the Ox (dual strike, requires off hand attack, knocks down)
- Falling Spider (off hand attack, only hits knocked down targets)
- Death Blossom (dual strike, requires off hand attack)

So in the example above, I could:

  1. Open with Falling Spider if target is knocked down (by my Horns of the Ox, or someone else), otherwise open with Golden Phoenix Strike
    - Follow with Repeating Strike (optional)
    - Follow with Horns of the Ox or Death Strike
  2. Restart

I had an easily spammable enchantment, I think it was Shadow Refuge.

You could have Palm Strike (elite) instead of Golden Phoenix Strike.
You could have Moebius Strike (elite, offhand that chains after dual strike and refreshes all attack skills if the enemy is below 50% health) for even more crazyness.

Anyway, the main deal with Assassin combos was you had restrictions, but also alternatives.
