i made a 3rd female sylvari and my guild master is like how do you pronounce her name because its Mairwen Isolde.

I named my Sylvari Riagán, meaning impulsive, which I find fitting for your average Sylvari.

I named my sylvari ele Heinchrysceldt. It’s a name I kinda just came up with in my Oblivion days… Just sounds phantasmagorical I guess.

If i had a sylvari ranger, i would definitely name it Catnip Evergreen x)

Otherwise, something more serious. I have a slyvari thief called Assam Razorleaf (okay still not so serious) Truth is, i couldn’t really find a cool celtic name that i liked and felt it fit the character… :P

I just named mine ‘Bripplez’ :P

I called my thief Tuduathar; a name mentioned in the Mabinogion. I saw it in the index and thought is sounded cool.

Tindorin is the name of my Sylvari Warrior.

Teldolin is the name of my Sylvari Elementalist.

I thought it captured the vibe of the Sylvari quite well. : )

When I did my research for name options for my sylvaris (I have 2), I looked into all of the plant-world genus (plant, flowers, trees, etc.) and I tweaked the spelling a bit. One flower I found which I liked the sound of was Nicandra, so my necro is called Neecandra. As for my warrior, I wanted her to have a more robust ancestor from the plant-world, but yet still sound feminine, so I retained Aglaia (a tree from the mahogany family), and tweaked it into Aglaiae.

Best name for a Sylvari that I have seen would have to be Leek Spinner.

I named my thief Cadfael The Daring, not very imaginative I know. Seemed to suit a Sylvari thief who wants to explore the world and you know kill a dragon or 2.

I recently started to play and well sylvari are by far my fav race till now, still looking forward to explore the other ones more deeply.
Anyways, i had quite some issues picking a name that i liked and made sense aswell…because as refered for the other races there’s more of a “pattern” when it comes to names, the sylvari haven’t got one as far as i’v been seeing. You have Caithe wich is a ordinary name and then you have something like Traeherne wich isn’t that ordinary, and sounds more like a sylvari name in my opinion.
Attending to the race i choose i wanted to pick a name that kind of sounded like nature or plants, and after a several already taken names, I found one that sounded like i wanted and was available, and it’s Leafëa. I’m quite happy with it ^^

I was thinking ’bout naming my sylvari character long before Guild Wars 2 was released, so, I wanted to chooseFlorie, but it was taken, so my sylvari elementalist is named Floriee , kinda love this name.

I chose to use the name Abizea for it’s sounding much like the name of the Albizia trees and shrubs which I’ve encounter in various forms in my travels around the world.
I chose to use Abizea instead of Albizia because the Albizia are an invasive and much hated plant in many places.
Dispite it’s habits, I think that the Albizia are quite attractive plants.
As is my Sylvari Thief, Abizea.

For me, names should depend on your class as much as your race, if not more.
My sylvari ranger is Kode Rekon

I came up with the name Sarus for my ranger. When that was taken, i went on google translate and found how to say “of the forest” in gaelic. My final name was Sarus Na Foranois, which I though really fit him.

Went with Dantlew for my Sylvari that comes from dant y llew which is irish for Dandelion.

My Sylvari warrior is named Faeolar, ranger is Daermornin. I can’t really decide which class I want to play, but right now Ranger is 19 and the warrior is 3 (I only made the warrior recently).

Iv’e had names from Siadodh (Sha-doh) to Arholyle, Arhovinh, etc. Once you understand celtic or gaelic pronunciation you can choose a name and construct it accordingly. Oisin (oh-sheen) is another I’ve seen wandering around.

My two main Sylvari are both female. I like names that start with the letter A so I have Awyne and Amarwen. I went for something that sounded sort of Irish. I also considered Aisling(pronounced Ash-ling), which is a Gaelic name.

My Sylvari’s name is Autumn Azalea
Chose the name because of the colours I made her.

I enjoy RP alot, and most Sylvari’s I found IG had a welsh name and something relating to them. Such as Evlyn or something. I found welsh names looks more like elvish name or w/e most welsh names fit perfectly for the MMORPGs, My main is called “Ricole Tohvel” as my main in all MMOS he was suppost to be a mage as I’m a mage fan but he turned out to be guardian and I love him. My alts ofc are the welsh names. Arwyn/Elwyn/Delwyn/Clwyd/Bryson/Olwyn. So if you like Rps or good names for an sylvari, I believe welsh names seems to fit.

Mine is a warrior called Mrgreen omann Mrgreen cause he is related to sprouts and he is green omann can be split into two parts, the first o is homarge to his celtic roots and mann as he is man shaped also a bit of a homarge to the green man. This is more of a nick- name as apparently id never be able to spell his true name ( look how I spelt man!) tho now im thinking it really has something to do with pansys

I am Amara Carnis. I went a more traditionally human way of naming myself and chose the Latin words Amara Carnis, meaning Bitter Flesh. My full name would be amaracarnis argaricum. I’m a poisonous night time mushroom necromancer. I know they lean towards Celtic names but… I’m a plant! Latin just works!

Not many have surnames, I think there may be one or two but I think it’s also up to the Sylvari as to what naming convention they utilize for themselves, much like everything else about them is typically up to the individual.

My Sylvari is a necromancer, and is named Cicuta Dionaea. I basically browsed the Internet for plants that are poisonous or carnivores. Cicuta is from Water Hemlock, while Dionaea is from the Venus Flytrap.

My necro’s name is Lhiannan. Peekablue is my elementalist. Kaitari is my Engineer and Keita is my ranger. Lhiannan and Peekablue are names I’ve recycled. Kaitari and Keita I wanted to consider them to be sisters.
