JQ just got him to 60%. We might have been able to get to 50% but the whole server DC’d as he spawned. We lost 2 commanders and lost about 30 seconds just loading people back in.

Yeah. Literally the second he spawned, I got kicked off and shoved to an overflow. Really sorry about that. :/ Was looking forward to seeing what an organized effort could have done.

The very same just happened to me on Gandara. Total disconnect and launcher refused to connect to servers for a full 5 mins the instant Teq spawned in Gandara. Im now stuck in overflow again, and I had only got in Gandara for the first time tonight not 10 mins before.

I dont mean to whine but I can barely see the red circles on the ground because of how faint they are, along with the fact that they are partially covered by the water. Its something anet needs to look into in the future. Anyway, the entire right zerg wiped due to this issue, and then regrouping took us about 3 mins and it lost us a good chunk of dps. were still not sre about the strategy we need to use. Stacking is good in theory but the poison is extremely powerful and creeping when it comes up.

Aurora Glade proudly got her down to 75% hp, got no loot whatsoever, only got her to the first laser stage, and I noticed a bug with the turrets, that they get stuck in an animation sometimes and can’t do anything for that time =/ Otherwise I love the challenge and the fun it was

You can turn nametags off…

I tried that when I respawned and its still pretty difficult to see the rings. If they were brighter it would help.

Gandara just got him past 75% (big thanks to the people from Eden that pretty much organized the whole event). From what i saw things went really well there – turrets were doing what they should have been doing, and being defended with minimal number of people, with most people divided into dps group and fingers clearing, without too much (visible to me) deaths, and with people either being ressed on the spot, or wp-ing. Still, the best we could do resulted in less than 2 minutes left after the megalaser phase. Improvement in experience and coordination might have possibly added 5-10% damage more. Anything above would be in my opinion possible only through perfecting everyone’s gear and builds (and that, as we all know, is not going to happen in open world pugs).

Also, to even get into base server it took me sitting there for over 2 events. I’m not going to even comment on how far the overflows got (or even whether they got anywhere).

FA just did about 80%. Dude is tough! It was my first try and I had fun. I was worried about all the DC’ing that was happening before the spawn, but after the spawn things went smooth… except for getting stomped the the mighty Teq.. lol

First day, and already the general attitude is changing on the server from ‘yay new content let’s try it’ to ’let’s go do something worthwhile with our limited fun relaxing game time.’

Overflows totally ruin trying to co ordinate an attack, and the d/cs aren’t helping either.

Maybe if the devs had tested this content with the typical pugs gear and weapons and thown together 40-60 randoms in an overflow they might have foreseen some of the obvious problems- like lag meaning you try to jump the wave, but it is deemed to be too early or late and your downed, or the red circles being so faint under wate rthey are impossible to see.

How about he drains the water away before the wave hits like a real wave, then it washes over, and red stains only appear when the water is out?

Good job Anet. Thank you for a challenge, seriously. I respect the work you put into this and regardless of what seems to work or not work on the first day I think it’s a refreshing step in the right direction. I would expect a world boss/dragon to be a hard fight; I mean it’s a freakin dragon. Way better than just standing there spamming my skills over and over at his feet with the occasional dodge.

Got him down to ~60% in an SoR/mixed overflow.

Our guild organized together into a single overflow, having a group cover each set of turrets. Ideally, it’s best to have 2 people healing the 3 turret shooters, and then having another group or two of roamers destroying Teq’s fingers and Champs.

I wish I could explain further on what worked during the battery phase but I was healing so maybe someone else could elaborate on that.

I’m from TC. I was in one of the first fights, right up until the part where I got DC’d. Been stuck in overflow ever since.

That’s part of the difficulty apparently. Next dragon will enforce an overflow for each player and will keep the requirement of minimum 80 players.

I supposed to be hard. If this is meant to be GW2’s version of a raid, it needs to be hard and it needs to test the server’s ability to coordinate and work together. Being from Blackgate, that’s easy for me to say, but God knows there’s enough easy content in this game already…let’s keep this one the way it is for now.

I’m praying that the kill rewards are amazing, otherwise I may never ever get a legit shot at killing this guy. As soon as someone kills him and finds out what the rewards are there will either be a huge influx of people trying to do him or a mass exodus when people find out it’s not worth it.

It’s not even that he’s too hard, but that he just has too much health, and too little time. I haven’t seen Tequatl wipe a server, or destroy any of the objectives that we need to defend. That would make him a hard opponent. Right now it just takes too long, and no one has been able to take down that much health in so little time.

I’d rather have a battle that is actually hard, and not just a race against the clock.

There is a reason no game has done open world raids since EQ… They suck… most people aren’t good enough for raids.

If this was a 20m raid it would be really fun. As it is now it is just dumb.

On a funnier note, JQ actually wiped… it was a pretty awesome animation.

So the old Tequatl took 99.9% less effort than 25% of the current fight.

And it gave more reward than 3x as much of this effort.

I’ve stopped doing events on Maguuma…it’s my home server, but if I ever want to get anything done, I guest on better servers.

Except for the fact that not even good players, in large numbers, with good builds, and good coordination, have succeeded in bringing him down to 50% health.

I’ve only fought Tequatl once now, but it was painfully obvious that it was a lost cause. Even with as many as 60 players, we hardly brought him down to 80% health in 15 minutes. That is insane, and not that much fun. It’s 15 minutes of wasted time, with no rewards for our efforts.
