It happened in WvW and now it’s happening in PvE. Hopefully the situation gets better as the content is out longer, currently it feels like you’re kitten for being on the wrong server.
This is why GW1’s system was superior…get rid of these servers for everything other than WvW purposes, and bring back the district system.
Would be great to experience something like this, but I refuse to switch server. I’ve had plenty of Boss kill races back when I played WoW. It was always fun when things went well, but that required you to have a coordinated group to even enter. At this point, you just have to work with a bunch of random people, most of them don’t even have TS or don’t really care about changing anything to make this fight possible.

I understand the sentiment. If the content cannot be beat by a team without voice comms and without requiring consumable buffs, then I think it’s too difficult for an open-world encounter IMHO.
You get:
– the chest for killing him (character bound)
– the bonus chest for killing him (account bound)
– four Dragon Chests (one for getting him to 75%, 50%, 25%, and 0% health)
All told, I got an exotic, three rares, a handful of blues and greens, some ascended crafting mats, and a bit north of 10k karma.
Edit: I also got three Gilded Coffers from the Dragon Chests, for what it’s worth.

So many people keep saying is is perfectly easy to do with random PUGs from across the globe, I don’t see how a BG player could have any difficulty winning in an overflow.

because the people from that server originally get locked out from grouping and doing things with their own server. This is one of the problems with the zerg/huge fights Anet is putting in. Scarlett did the same. It separates you from your server mates. If they want separate servers why make events that screw that up.

So they basically did it WvW style and turtled it up to focus and mitigate damage, and the mass resses, half the players couldn’t bother to jump the wave lol. Time to load up the Teamspeak servers because this won’t be done with pugs.

Anet made it clear that the event needs a lot of co-ordination and tactics to play than pure afk-zerging. BG did it in a way it is designed to be played. It is frustrating when event utterly fails due to lack of any co-ordination on a server, but it shouldn’t in any way discredit the work BG folks have put in to beat the event in a way it is supposed to be beaten.
I predict that few others will as people flock to just a few servers to be able to complete this hard-nosed teamwork check fight. Most servers will never complete this fight as it is. People who are interested will almost definitely guest to a server that has a chance instead of continued futile attempts.

You’re arguing semantics. By saying that they shouldn’t, you’re saying that you don’t want them there. You’re saying that they should stick to servers that aren’t yours, despite the fact that your server is the only one with decent success.

Sigh… I’d like to be able to do the event with my guildmates and the guilds from my server that I regularly play with. Whether its a cake walk or 40-man Naxx style frustration I don’t care, I want to play on the server I made my characters on, with the people I’ve been playing with for ages.

Amazing job today Blackgate! The friendly atmosphere in TS made it a ton of fun and getting over 120 people in TS is not easy. Took a lot of hard work and coordination but we did it. Very proud to be one of you!

That coordination over TS is what makes us good at WvW, and now it’s what makes us good at PvE. TS is something that’s as readily available to the people on your server as it is to the people on my server. And let’s be clear, the TS helped coordinate our community, but it was the community’s willingness to work together that won the day.
Inb4 Teq is nerfed and BG goes from “first” to “only server to beat Teq when it was actually hard”.

We are the RP server alright, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t face this kind of challenge.

Which is a problem. WvW already encouraged people to horde on one server but still there were many PvE players who didnt cared about WvW and were fine to play in lower tiers. If more PvE content will start to promote “elite” servers, the issue might start to get out of hand.
I’d rather try to make it onto my server TC’s map and try to help our server succeed rather than guest to BG for myself to succeed. But dem queues and overflows… pfft.

This is the best fight, dodging the tidal waves, cleansing the fear/poison/weakness while taking his buffs down. I’m just sad that this excludes alot of those people (not me I’m on DB) who are on off-peak timezones or low-pop servers. Needs a bit of a fix to the scaling and I think it will be perfect.

Blackgate already has a community teamspeak and with the amount of wvw we do it just comes naturally to co-ordinate. If you have the resources, why not use them.
If you want to beat this, or have a solid shot then try to get people on voice chat and work as a team. There were plenty of people in the fight not on TS but a fair number of them were and it made it much easier.

Let’s be clear, that TS is as available on my server as it is on yours, but the willingness to work together is not so readily available over here. You have been on a high ranked WvW server too long and you seem to think that by individual engagement and spirit you can actually force people to participate the way you want them to. Guess what, those people that are willing to participate have been flocking to your server for ages now, they are in rare supply on most other servers. That’s what guilds are for over here.
Yet you don’t pick the people on your server, so that willingness to coordinate really isn’t something you can just cultivate on every server. Good for you that you are playing on a server where everyone is so willing and able, but it’s not like that for all of us and you should really stop acting like it’s something which can happen by sheer power of will.
I’m happy you guys managed to kill it and it seemed like a lot of fun, but don’t come here and act all high and mighty in response towards something which is clearely a silly troll attempt.
Anyways, I’m just dissapointed that the accessibility of this content is out of my control since I was looking forward to it.
I do hope the silly guester’s should be at the bottom of the cue. Period. Or kicked, I like that idea better. Seriously Blackgate player’s who have been here since the start cant even get into our own server? Guesters are just useless. I wasn’t hatin’ I’m actually glad someone killed that dragon so now I know which server to go to for my achievements. And I was being serious with the congratz. I just don’t see myself doing this after I get most of the achievements for the boss. I mean the fight is great but the reward for it is just RNG and with my luck (no luck) I don’t want to waste 30 mins(15 min boss and 15 mins wait on map so not in overflow) for something that we might fail or if we succeed we don’t get anything. ATM Idk where i stand, I love the mechanics to the fight but there seems to be alot of loop holes like, low-pop servers, off-peak times, uncoordinated groups… But keep at it and I will join you guys soon as a guest in BG

kitten your overflow BS I wait for an HOUR for him to spawn coordinating with everyone, get kicked from the kitten fight, queue back up, FIGHTING him in overflow, get the message I can travel back (to the one we’re doing well in) immediately click on it and put BACK into another overflow where there is no Tequatl.
So I fought him twice and still didn’t even get the kittening daily for trying. kitten you Anet I have more important kitten to do with my time. Peace.
