I was not trying to be condescending. I was simply saying that you dont have to quantify the boss by what he gives you… but take pride in being able to say that you did it.

You didn’t beat him by yourself though, individually there’s very little to be proud of. You just happened to be on a server with 499 other people who were competent and organized (I’m assuming that’s the map limit). In a 25 person raid there’s still some pride to be had because you were good enough to be in the group and chosen for the purpose, in a world event it’s largely just up to luck.

O I didnt realize I needed you to determine what I can and cant be proud of. I was part of a well organized group that worked hard all day to accomplish a goal… I am proud of that and always will be.

Tequatl Killer Squad last attempt.

Blackgate just recently beat Teq for the 2nd time, was awesome! Beaten within the last 4 seconds! (lot of AFKers)

From the perspective of a guester on BG yesterday, everyone was quite hospitable in the teamspeak as long as the people were willing to work, and even went so far as to tell us that some of their guilds were recruiting, should we wish to make BG our home. The group of people in VOIP were nothing short of incredible; organized, dedicated, and supportive of one another, spending each hour between fights discussing strategy, handing out free food to people who needed buffs, and gearing up to do it again. Once they beat him, I have it on stream that the first thing people said (after congrats) was that they needed to tell the other servers that communication is key—which it is.

It was also my experience that exceedingly few people actually did guest. From Tarnished Coast it was only me and another guild member in the Teamspeak. And after the kill, we immediately left the server, returning to our own and have been trying to help the TC mumble do the fight all day. I know it can be frustrating to feel like your home server is being invaded and that BG natives aren’t getting priority in order to get into the instance. So, for my part in taking up server spots, I apologize. However, I knew that BG would be the server to learn from, and I worked just as hard as everyone else.

I have the utmost respect for the people on Blackgate, they did an amazing job and have been able to replicate it through skill and dedication. Now I just hope I can help do my part to ensure that TC completes the fight.

A big word of advice is to turn down the graphic settings for the game during the event.
Lowest/Lowest for sure in order to get the fps needed to jump the waves. It helped bigtime

Turn of nameplates. Join the squad you need to be in. Much less clutter!

Kudos to those who took down Teq, its a “monster” effort (ho ho!).

After several tries at Teq with the new mechanics, it seems to me that the real issue with winning this is the adds. If there were no adds we the general playerbase could kill Teq in the time limit with some low level co-ordination.

Currently from what I have seen the cannons on either side are swamped at times by champions. In one battle I saw 3 of them spawn on the south turrets. Now champs in themselves are kinda tough when they scale up. But the thing here was that the champs were Krait. The pulls and poisons ON TOP of Teq throwing his AoE poison at the turrets meant that the defenders at the turrets went down extremely quickly leaving the turrets exposed. At one point a few rather dim people complained players were “champ farming” instead of “helping and defending”, when they clearly didnt realise the champs were going FOR the turrets and players were defending them. These champs dont drop loot, people are not farming them they are keeping them occupied away from turrets and trying to kill them so other people can stay alive.

So imo the key to victory lays with getting rid of adds ASAP around turrets and keeping it that way. It gives the turret users room to breath and work the skills as required.

Elona-Event failed. We would have needed maybe 5 more seconds. The try afterwards was horrible…

But you can see in the screen that the player got the achievement “Makellose Verteidigung” which is german for “Flawless Defense” where you need to kill the dragon.

I know ^^ (ich bin auf Elona). Wouldn’t be the first achievement that’s bugged. Officially the event failed and we were kind of disappointed, because we first thought that we had killed the kitten with 0:00 left.

Maybe the conditions (bleeding, burning and so on) were still ticking after the timer ended so he died from those after the event failed.

The resource is available to everyone, free. You can host it on your home computer if you so choose to. We decided it’d be best to host ours on a VPS, and yes, that does mean we had to pay for it. This was one of the options open to us. The fact remains, the option is there for someone willing to set it up for others to use, free of cost. I do not think this is a valid excuse at all.

You’d be hard pressed to find a residential internet connection capable of running our TS3 server. I am not talking about monthly upload caps here either I am talking about the Mbit/s upload transfer speed; your average home internet connection has an upload speed of 5.86 Mbps and although services like FiOS go higher even their 20 Mbps upload package is $144.95/mo w/o phone service and that would not be enough. A VPS or co/lo is really the only way to do a TS3 server on the scale that we do.

The math is:

DOWN: people_speaking_atm * selected_codec
UP: people_speaking_atm * (people_in_channel – 1) * selected_codec

So in a WvW channel with say 70 people on reset night you’re looking at

1 * (70-1) * the codec speed

and then that times the number of active channels. We also use codecs that range from 6KB/s to 10KB/s depending on the channel (per listener).

Lol. I was talking about the handmade screen at the beginning of this thread. I didn’t know at this time that Quatl/ Sparkfly Fen had a new screen.

But it wouldn’t also be that far away from the truth.. I think a lot of characters (females AND males) died so many times, their armor has been destroyed and they appeared naked, well at least half naked…

The last few I’ve been on probably didn’t even get past 90%, I think. Your message implies we’ve gotten to second wave at some point, and that alone sounds surprising taking account the major lack of coordination and skill during those painful rounds I was participating in :p

They’re giving it some time and watching, as they should. Doing anything this soon would be a mistake, IMHO.

Although there are in fact some flaws, let the servers who want the challenge start to get this down. Then if needed, they can make a few changes so the smaller servers can start to do this stuff.

And all it took was getting the motivated people from all the other servers to gather on one server. Couldn’t get in even at Vabbi, from overflow to overflow.

41 worlds, 1.5 hour respawn, he has been available for around 30 hours.

30/1.5 × 41 = 820 spawns (not counting overflows) and 5 wins.

That’s a .006 win percent. The servers that have done it should be proud!

But that is about the same chance of getting a precursor out of the Mystic Toilet!

Zerg ball yeah, it’s better that way instead of being spread out so turrets can buff on area and clear one posioned area instead of all over the place, thus diverting their focus to keeping #2 on CD. It’s also best so if you go down you can get right back up. Lots of benefits to being in a ball versus being spread out. Still, most people get hit by the tidal wave, and get killed/downed.
