A little of topic but what is the different between the Marriner’s Horn and the Flute? Because in wiki it just says that the Horn has 3 octaves and the Flute only 2 -so why take the flute over the horn?
And can people hear you in wvw?

It’s like, why taking in real life Piano or Guitar. It depend of what you like the most.
Despite the Flute have only 2 octave it’s more than enough to play lot of music if you take some times to rearrange them.

And the Horn is really loud, you’ll annoy everyone.

Generally speaking a horn isn’t quite known for being a solo instrument, many songs do not sound great on the horn as all notes produced by it sound like a bomb going off.

However the flute has been a respected solo instrument for ages, and the notes flow well like a running river. Many songs have been composed for flute solos, while horns are usually ceremonial, or act as accompaniments to a soloist.

I bought the flute and immediately thought it’s the silliest thing I’ve ever spent real money on, but I loved the in-game music system in LoTRO and playing the flute was fun.

However, I do hope they add some more functions to the music system (again, similar to LoTRO) where you can record a tune and then have it playback automatically and maybe sync with others to form your own little orchestra. Or even if they don’t and it’ll remain a fun curiosity, it’ll be fun playing the flute. Just add the violin next, or a guitar!

I’ve got a ton I’ve managed to figure out. My notation is kinda weird but hopefully you can follow it.

-The “x” means to hit your octave change button, whatever that may be. If the song begins with an x, like “x34….” then it begins in the higher octave (since when you first load the flute you are in the lower octave, I put the initial x to remind me to change up an octave)-

EDIT: I’ve changed the way I formatted the notation in all the descriptions of the videos that is hopefully easier to read than my weird “x” thing. I’ve replaced those songs with videos here with the updated notation.

Everything Inside a parenthesis is now in the upper octave, those without parenthesis surrounding them are in the lower octave! Enjoy!
