Hi there!

I’m unsure of why this seems like an impossibility but I am looking for a guild home that is close knit, active & members represent. That’s all I’m looking for. Can be big or small. Just those 3 key elements need to be there. I don’t care what great achievement your guild has achieved. I don’t care how many guild missions you unlocked. I don’t care how many buffs you run 24×7. In the end, none of that matters. What matters is that you have good people to run with and call your friends & guild mates. So I guess you could say I’m looking for a community.

Let me tell you about me. I float between casual & semi-hardcore. I play daily. Most of my GW2 time has been spent in primary WvW guilds so I’m extremely experienced there. However WvW is not a requirement. I just mention it so you understand my experience level on things. I’ve done some PvE but hardly any fractals. I do have my dungeon master achievement so not completely inexperienced. I have done very little sPvP at this time. However I enjoy doing pretty much anything with the right group. It’s more about the experience to me then spamming through pressing #1 the entire time.

So please have read this thoroughly before responding. Because I will ignore a wall of text listing your achievements and upgrade list. I want to know about your community.

I really am a nice guy. Just not sure if what I’m looking for exists out there. Let me know here, pm on forums or in-game email. Please no stray whispers. It can be distracting in the middle of a dungeon or easily overlooked while in WvW and I don’t want to miss your reply.

I currently reside on Blackgate but will guest/transfer for the right opportunity.

Heya Dark Night! It’s not just you; it’s really hard to find all three of those things. I’m incredibly introverted (more so outside the game than inside), and having a close-knit guild is really important to me because my guild mates tend to become my main friend-community. I think I’m in a similar space of being casual and semi-hardcore (sometimes I just like to log in and poke the Trading Post, but I’m also part of a closed Progression Fractals group — we’re only at 23, but we’re having fun).

Anyway! I really think Ember Solace would be a good fit for what you’re looking for. We’re incredibly close-knit (we talk about vacations we’re going on and post YouTube links of our dance performances and Santa even visited us and gave each member a small gift from the gem store). We genuinely care about each other. Many of us go by real names or nick-names other than our screen names, and we share pictures of our pets, and one of our members is even looking into starting up a D&D campaign with some people.

We’re also active. Everyone doesn’t log on every day (and I’m about to go on vacation for six days, lol), but we have people who are online doing stuff and who like to group up together. Many of our members are new to the game, so some of the more experienced members have been helping them with things like story quests and their first dungeons. We ran someone through AC: EM last night (and not a speed run for tokens, but a thorough run, even including Lt. Twirly-Pants, even when some of the new people had a little trouble and we wiped a bit), and it was a lot of fun. Also, we require 100% rep (with the exception of personal storage guilds and TC Commendations once a week for those who need/want comms while we’re working on unlocking Guild Missions), which means we all get to know each other instead of flitting between other guilds.

If you’d like to learn more about us, we’ve got the standard recruitment post, plus you could stop by our guild forums and read our Purpose and Principles statement. We do have a short application, but it’s designed to help build that sense of community with members and make sure we’re a good fit for players and the players are a good fit for us. I know you’re on Blackgate and we’re on Tarnished Coast, but you could always guest if you decide we fit what you’re looking for. And if you have any questions, I’d be happy to answer them. =) I’m going on a mini-vacation before the semester starts back up (I teach at a community college), so I won’t be in game for the next few days, but I’ll be checking in with the forums and such.

You sound like a player that is exactly what we look for to bring into our guild. We are [XHSA] and have been a guild for over 7 years having moved from Guild Wars 1. Our focus is creating a social environment that encourages people to play with others because we feel that friends are the most important element in keeping the game fun and exciting.

Please allow me to introduce you to the AI community. I’m not sure we’re what you’re looking for because of your requirement that the members rep — we don’t expect 100% representation, or even desire it, and often times there are as many members of our guild repping others as there are repping us — we have guild allies from our time in GW1 that have their own guild homes, but they are on our roster so if they are doing something and need to fill a team spot they can pop over and ask our members if they are interested in going… we have members that enjoy our chat and are friends with our members but want to be in a strong WvW guild most of the time… We have members that come in for a few laughs and then head out again, and we have members that consider AI home and rep us 98% of the time (the other 2% they’re killing Tequatl with TTS). We’re good with all of that — the people are what makes our guild and we encourage them to have fun whether that’s repping our guild or someone else. We don’t kick for inactivity — if a member is gone for a couple of months and returns they’ll come back to a raucous welcome. Other than that caveat we would seem to be a good fit…

Our members actually care about each other. We aren’t a WvW guild or a PvE guild or even a PvX guild. We’re a social guild. We exist solely for the sake of having cool people to play with, and as such we’re often times teamed up for even the most mundane activities. Yesterday I was in guild teams for 3 separate dungeons, a set of fractals, showing someone the path through Shark’s Maw jump puzzle, and openworld play in Caledon Forest with a new, level 16 member just for the sake of getting to know him and having the pleasure of his company

We type in complete sentences, use punctuation and know that Ur was a City in Sumeria. Most of our roster is over 30. We curse — if our guild chat was transferred to this forum you might see whole litters of kittens. Back when butter was going for 2c each someone filled every square inch of our guild bank, all sections, with butter, just for fun. Many of our players are on for several hours every day, and many are only on weekends…

Thanks for your comments .The guild is not dead it is newly formed from scratch. Hence we have to recruit from scratch. As for your sense of humour you are probably right and certainly not suited to join our guild.

If you perhaps spotted our purging threads: [UM] has maintained a consistent and active presence of ~40-50 members and ~10-15 on nightly during prime time. We strive to keep a closely bonded and tight knit guild. Relaxed (ie: no you must log in x days out of the week) but active enough to make sure everyone is having fun, so we do perform purges around every 2 months for those that are gone for 2 months+ and don’t give a little headsup for an extended absence. All to make sure the roster stays fresh and active.
