Can’t respond for everybody but as a Elementalist dungeon speed runner, I’ll say : ‘’oh… Well, lets find something else then’‘. My Ele will still do one of the best DPS with my LH and i’ll still bring a good amount of might to the party so, it won’t change much. I’ll still continue to use FGS since I use it even without a wall in some situation. Even if I don’t think that FGS into a wall is a exploit, its kind of broken (lets face it, way to much damage for the cooldown if compare to other skill of any profession). My Ele won’t suck if they change FGS and i’ll have as much fun if not more running my Ele in dungeon.

This would be awesome. I would like to play my ranger more. Personnally I don’t think that it will happen in the current state of the game. The Pets can be a pain because of the AI and low control you have over it, the Swords is hard to master and you have limited amount of good utility skills. Even if you can do right now a good job with a ranger, the profession carry a pretty bad reputation, which don’t help it cause. But if someone figure out a way or if Anet make an update that allow the Ranger to become one of the good profession in Dungeon, I think that everybody will like that and what that to happen.

With FGS changes the comp slightly, engie is still in the FGS comp though so it’s not like it affects the core argument. You’d likely be looking at warrior, 2 eles, engineer, then mesmer or guardian for the last slot.

Meanwhile no one bothers to actually try to dispute any of the points or provide an alternative other than “hurr ur build sux i could do so much better”.

So if you think you can do better let’s hear it, otherwise I can just chalk you all up as another of those “LFG 4 more zerk dps war” wannabe meta types.

A warrior, engie, ele, mesmer, ranger team has four DPS and one “pure” support. The warrior is EA but that doesn’t cut his overall DPS by that much; the net DPS boost from having his banners and EA adds up to more DPS contribution than another ele. Same goes with the engie and his vuln stacks. The one class that has a borderline DPS contribution relative to another ele is likely the ranger, since his own personal DPS is relatively low. A staff ele deals about 50% of the DPS of a warrior, so if your “supports” are each buffing the party by a cumulative 10% each, that alone makes up the difference.

In other words, 150 × 5 = 750 but (150 × 4 + 100) x 1.1 is even more, as is (150 × 3 + 100 × 2) x 1.2, and so on.

As we have already said in posts before, thief/3ele/war or thief/2ele/war/guard if you wanna be a bit safer is faster than what you have come up with.

I don’t think Guang understands that belka doesn’t teleport in decent groups and an engi will not have enough stealth for the skip to abom and you’ll just lose time.

He also doesn’t understand that engi, ranger and mesmer personal dps are kitten, that mesmers and engis are slow kitten and that thief stealth is superior to engi stealth, even without the use of smokescreen or SR.

I don’t think engi personal dps is that low, especially with rifle 3 and 5, but i’ll wait for the spreadsheet to be done to have a better idea. I mean, have all 7 character classes, might as well play them!

Dps isn’t that bad, but quite a good bit of it is bound to conditions. If conditions were already covered, you’re basically kitten d and deal less damage than a necro.

I guess depending on the amount of warriors that are in the group (since they are the main contributor to bleeds in speed runs), the engineer dps may go down. A single warrior could put some 12 bleeds if they all crit with the hundred blades / ww combo in around 4 seconds, when the first of the bleeds would start to fall off.

I wasn’t really talking about bleeds.

A single warrior could put some 12 bleeds if they all crit with the hundred blades / ww combo in around 4 seconds, when the first of the bleeds would start to fall off.

Even with a 100% crit chance the odds of that happening would be approximately one in ten thousand since you’d have to hit a one in three roll 12 times in a row. You’d be rolling 12 dice and having every single one come up a 5 or 6.

An engineer stacks between 15-20 bleeds depending on your spec (pure zerk DPS is about 15) so you have room to fit a warrior comfortably, possibly even two. Even if you do go over the cap a bit it’s still a considerable DPS gain. It’d be a pretty significant gain even if the engie wasn’t getting any bleed at all, actually.

And yes, I am ignoring the rT casuals now, it’s been like four pages and they haven’t given me anything worth responding to. I will apologize in advance to anyone in rT who isn’t intentionally being ignorant though, I don’t want to stereotype the entire guild on account of a couple of bad apples.

Oh yeah, and re: Engi DPS, don’t forget that they have a load of direct damage skills, you’re doing more than just chucking grenades 1+2. Blunderbuss, Jump Shot, Acid Bomb, BOB, Grenade Barrage, etc. are all significant direct damage contributors. When you factor all that in you get an average direct DPS on par with warriors using HB/WW rotation and significantly higher opening burst. You can check out the DnT theorycraft board where I posted the exact numbers.

Bleed is nice but it’s mostly icing on the cake, hardly anything they’re reliant on.

What other conditions were you referring to? Actually the more conditions on a mob, the more damage we do currently with mod ammunition (2% per condition), but all other damage conditions are usually up there which is why i really only concentrate on bleeds.
