Can we move past this?
I will never run a gw2 dungeon. Ever. They are the worst thing in the game. Well the lack of loot is from everything. Has no one else noticed this? No rare skins that drop, that are worth more than vendor or the ecto from salvaging etc. Very very limited armor choices. I left diablo 3 for this a month after launch. need a reason to play and spend my money.
Yes.
I don’t run dungeons for the reward, I run dungeons because I enjoy doing dungeons. No amount of reward will make me do something I don’t like doing.
should stay out of the way of those doing it”
- Thomas Edison
Nope
loosing money as a casual
Make dungeons “fun”, at least the story modes, and maybe I will. Right now even story mode is completely out of touch with the difficulty when in a PuG group.
(edited by Soylent.4197)
Yes, I’ll continue to run them. I’m not running anything at a loss and it’s plenty of fun.
Where is my carrot? There is none nothig really says “Do this dungeon for awesome rewards!” now it says “Do this dungeon for crappy rewards and loose more money!” – This is not how you sell content to a costumer!
Arenanet destroyed any meaning in doing dungeons… unless you are a massochist.
No I won’t until I can at least get 1-3 golds a day.
It’s just stupid to pay for the teleport then pay for the repairs and then pay pay pay.
Seriously, I’m not rich, I won’t buy 200 golds so I can get my tier 3 and enough cash for enjoying the repairs cost.

It all boils down to this, really.
There’s still a bunch of other dungeons out there. Also, you don’t spend more than maybe 6 silver per repairs if you have a good guild group. If any of you played GW1, you know that getting prestige armor has always cost money. You can get gear with the same stats as dungeon gear from just crafting. You do dungeons for the skins. You guys are crying about ONE dungeon, there’s a bunch more out there. If you want to make money, try playing the market, selling crafting materials, salvage gambling, mystic forge, the list goes on. You don’t NEED to farm, this isn’t a farming game unless you want something cosmetic.
No Robert, I can’t, and we can’t.
Max, all dungeons are effected. 30 mins or less is no longer a good thing also, the diminishing returns are being applied regardless of the previously posted “safty” zones to all dungeons.
This isn’t a Cof Magg thing and that wasn’t the question.
Even if you wanna farm dungeons you still can. Just do different dungeons instead of the same one over and over and over. The DR resets after 30 minutes. Just go run HotW and come back or something.
Nope, I wont be touching the dungeons in this game.
Out of all games I have ever played, this game has the worst dungeons right now.
Due to this patch, this game has been getting a lot of bad reviews and if you don’t believe me, go and google GW2 dungeon update.
Set the search tool to the past week and go read what people are saying about this game on many other sites right now.
Clearly ANet doesn’t seem to care what the community thinks if they just want us to move on.
where did robert say this?
They’re going to make a game in their vision regardless of what you guys cry about. There are plenty of ways to make up for the loss in dungeon repairs. You guys are acting like dungeons are the ONLY way to make money in this game.
Well max that would be a good idea but the travel cost alone would have you in the gem store in no time with that method.
Logged in, went alt tabbed to troll here, bored, tab back in, inside DR whole time, about 45 mins, no chat except nps and 2 diff gold spammers once each. And their prices have dropped literally over night…

Half way down.
no way. If you go on the BLT and buy golds… and use a black lion salvage kit, you have a chance to make 2-3 ectos and double or triple your money. You can sell gathering materials, you can farm active events, crafting, the list goes on.
The difficulty buffs, for explorable, I completely support.
Story difficulty was about where it should be, only story rewards needed nerfing. I don’t feel the req levels were kept in mind. Nor the fact that story IS meant for pugs unlike explore.
The reward nerfs I DO NOT support.
I understand why they are there. And support the general concept of them.
They don’t appear to be working.
The nerf was far too much. esp in conjunction with added difficulty.
If bugs were fixed and difficulty adjusted then rewards would need very little adjusting (and vice versa) doing both at the same time, not fixing the bugs, introducing more bugs…. that’s a terrible idea.
Give us a full repair on completion (thus making dungeons reasonably profitable) & I’m good.
yeah we can move past this once its rolled back or at least toned down. if the apology was sincere there would be actions to fix it.
Yes Quiz, that’s the issue. I’m not looking to get rich doing dungeons (though it would be nice) I’d just rather not go broke with 1-2 deaths.
I can’t move past the fact that rewards are basically non existent when comparing it to the difficulty and the massive time/gold sink we have to face with these incredibly over-tuned dungeons.
All you have to do is create a dungeon rotation. Do 3 dungeons/paths and go back in to the first. The idea is that you don’t spam 1 part of the game over and over and over.
Even if you wanna farm dungeons you still can. Just do different dungeons instead of the same one over and over and over. The DR resets after 30 minutes. Just go run HotW and come back or something.
It’s not the point.
Smaller guilds are not able to run ALL the dungeons yet. And they have trouble affording the repairs and people are getting discouraged of attempting harder dongeons. When I try to get a PUG even now, most people are avoiding dongeons now and unless we can get a solid income of golds, they won’t go back to a dongeon if they wipe 5 times in it.
Remove the repair cost and the teleportation fees and maybe people will do them again.
You can join up to 5 guilds ya know…
Max what you listed is gambling. you have a decent chance to get zero ectos as well. AS far as traveling to and from events, you’ll need to port or do about 30 mins of walking in which it would be time for you to port back for another dungeon run. Not to mention if it’s chain events you stand a decent chance of getting limited returns if they are close to the same area.
Are dungeons the only cash maker..No. But they are entertaining to quite a few people.

except the rewards system is broken because when people do that, they still get penalised
No they don’t, I’ve done dungeons since the update. My guild just has a rotation and we make money just the same as if we did CoF back to back.
I don’t mind the buffs, or even how hard it is, that’s not the real issue, its ALL of the dungeons are costing more then your making for money, or gear.
I don’t craft, don’t want to , should not have to
I don’t play the market, I don’t want , should not have to.
I enjoy doing dungeons for fun AND rewards, I wish i had waited till after this patch to look into buying the game. cause this has no staying power for me, and many many many other people.
there seems to be a confusion, no ones really asking for it all to be given to them easily, its just the balance right now is way out of whack, making it not fun nor rewarding to do dungeons, which for me (And many others) Is a huge enjoyment for online games.
if you don’t agree, then you don’t understand cause you probably value a different aspect of the game then we do. then why are you even on this topic?
I already notice a huge drop in active players, and zones. so can players move on? nope. and its their loss not ours cause when this is on sell for 19.99 next to The secret world and TERA online, they will know why.

and others havent
it doesnt work all the time therefore it is broken
doesnt help with story mode anyway
I would do dungeons for no reward if they were fun. GW2 are not fun for me or anyone I know who is playing GW2. I am having a hard enough time to get people interested enough to see them all once, when the dungeons are actually working and let us zone in.
You can join up to 5 guilds ya know…
I’m not gonna join more than 1 guild. It’s not a flea market, it’s suppose to be a guild where you help each other and talk of fun stuff while having fun.

I hit 80 in order to give me some leeway with Borderlands 2 coming out so that dungeons could get fixed.
I come back to read that dungeons are completely kitten and pointless, what reason do I have to play the game now? None.
I don’t expect to log into GW2 until I hear about these things being fixed, or at least some legitimate end-game content being added to the game. When I say legit, I mean worthwhile for more than a cosmetic piece of armor. The point of the game is progression, but what happens when the developers stagnate that progression for players? They quit.
Expect to see lots of people quitting this game in the next weeks unless ANet makes changes to this horrible patch.
Max, what about story mode?
Someone in your guild asks for help with story, normally you’d help them, run them a few times, enjoy and get used to working with them, and they’d then help you with explorable.
Now someone asks for help with story, you don’t help them because you’ll lose money by doing so. (end reward 1s, repair > 5)
OR you do help them, the added difficulty increases the team’s tension, people throw around noob this noob that & disconnect mid dungeon. Players that haven’t done that dungeon before, or don’t watch youtube videos on how to do them because they don’t want spoilers, simply can’t complete the dungeon.
I have a bad feeling they won’t.
People think these posts are pointless and its just crying, but in fact we like the game, we want to play and enjoy it. but a huge huge part of that is messed up, badly and these post serve to get their attention , and they do. how do i know? they deleted 3 of mine that where in the posting guild lines.
but i spent my 59.99+tax so am going to get my worth out of it, but I Can assure you I wont buy a single gem, and If they don’t at least address this issue I wont be coming back after I have had my fill of pve,
but maybe this is what they want?
My elementalist is level 41. I have 95 tears from doing EX AC for 2 days. I got in a good group that simply demolished everything, everyone else was 80 of course. The most Ive died in one must have been 3.
So the content is doable, once you know what you are doing. It’s kinda fun, the first 4 times maybe.
But do I think we need to move on? NO definitely not! The Dungeons are still way too hard, or overtuned, or whatever term you chose to use. Its utter chaos in these instances, with every player just running around taking care of himself. All these counter arguments against people saying its too hard suggesting we use tactics, coordination, and communication are utter crap. It all basically boiled down to:-
1. Keep eye out for any red circles, or if fighting boss with adds, on the boss.
2. If you get targeted run the hell away, dropping what cc, slows, stuns you can.
3. If someone is down, help rez as fast as possible.
There is no breathing room, the one time I said Id drop a healing spring for someone who was hurt, he just dismissed the idea saying “I have regen.”
This would be a lot more fun if we had time to stop, to take in the fights, if we had some CC that lasted a bit. (yes I know unbalancing for pvp, but that’s another problem). Have periods where where mobs unleash abilities that are super dangerous, then have them on cool down for a bit. Give us a chance to stop moving a bit. I’m not saying no one actually helped another member. Sure when I notice that our warrior was being chased by 3 ghosts and he was hobbling away half dead Id throw slows on the stuff chasing him. But it’s more like I’m frantically switching through all my elements throwing everything I have in succession cause everything last so short, then I have everything on cool down and if I get attacked all I can do is dodge to a pillar and run around like a chicken with my head cut off let alone trying to help dps anything, of course that all happens in 5 secs and hes already swarmed again and has been downed.
It just gets old after a bit when its all that happens. It get old when I want to bring in more casual players who just don’t want to die 300 times before learning how the flow of combat goes.

And yet, you are only level 41… what level did you start doing EX AC at?
Harder ok fine, no mor speed runs ok fine. The risk reward for gw2 is not there your drops from the chests are no good at level 80 since running a dungeon makes lower profit to do do. We all understand how and why it was done fine. I don’t think they made this relaxing that ok stir nerd the rewards, exploration is harder keep the rewards ok. Your chests drop crap item 95% if the time. We get 1-20 copper from it. You can’t make a game that is for x people only while the y people are left on the side lines. All should get the option to get exotics from crafting dungeons or just pvp.
What you have done is make some of te ways people like to make money and see te game just stop or die. The need across board was a bad idea and also you ‘buffed’ the instances while not fixing the problem of Magg glitching or bugging from his escort problematic. Your solution was to heavy handed with little after thought. Games are fun for man people ou want them to play and get their friend to play. Story mode is just that see the world mister casual player while hard core guild Z.
You changed the CoF instance ok. Your thinking was change all instance alright slow the cash gain fine. It was such a fundamental change that your actions have had consequences that you probly don’t realize yet. Come a week or a month your data may see as some areas are jus now dead. Thanks to your overflow system people could play cm any time of the day usually, now Its dead.
Please really think and look at what could go wrong if you blindly swing your nerf stick around. People won’t want to farm if farming is a second job, limiting the return on crafted items well it’s goes inline with the instances merging problem. I hope you wil think about this and correct your bugs before limiting people’s ability to enjoy the game in the many ways they want.

38 or so. Not sure what your point is, are you saying since I did it at 41 that its easy enough?
I don’t have much experience yet to know if the same would go as smoothyl with a full group of 41s. I think its more that I got carried through it by other over geared players.
He said something bad…..PR…is gonna have some fun!
I get it, I spent 60$ on getting myself MAX exotic weapons I’ll coldly admit it. I’m just saying, it makes no since why my other characters need to do this for MAX items that a karma vendor will eat me alive for when I never get more than 50 karma in most events now at 80!

Yes, people will fight tooth and nail any time there seems to be a sense of change, as change is hard for most to handle, so you will see them crying about how it isn’t working right. Right? What is right? Where did they get the definition of “right” when it comes to defining what MMORPG dungeons are supposed to be about? Weren’t they (ArenaNet) trying to go beyond that with this game? Break the mold? be different? But..but, it MUST be wrong if so many agree it is…Or maybe, JUST MAYBE those people need dungeons to be what they are used to them being instead of something new, or something that is trying to be new. Why are they expected to conform to the popular opinion of what they should be? Isn’t it up to them what their dungeons are supposed to offer?
they are doing something different, yes. but the wrong way.
what they SHOULD have done was make it dynamic. changing…interesting….
not just overly hard, that’s not new.
they did not change the game, they made it harder, not always a bad thing but they did it wrong (costing more to go in then coming out).
fix rewards or your going to lose a lot of players, its that simple.
Deathfrost:
What I meant is that you spent 2 whole days grinding that place and only earned 3 levels. Whereas if you took that same time and spent it doing Exploration or WvWvW PvE monsters you would have gained at least 3 extra levels.
Essentially, not only did the nerf ruin end-game content, but it also ruined the impetus to do dungeons at all, for any level player.
When I was 40, I started doing a CM story farm, and did it for 2 days like you, but I came out on the other end (about 50 – 60 runs) as a level 62. This is more comparable to the rate at which a player can level using Map Completion of PvE in WvWvW, which makes dungeons worthwhile if you can get a good group (the whole point of dungeons I thought was to get into a solid group and work out the kinks).
Sadly, this is no more.
Efaicia, I take it you didn’t bother to read anything posted in this thread.
It has NOTHING to do with being new take on instances, it’s about not paying to do dungeons. That is of course unless you feel the new paradigm of MMOs is paying for dungeons.
I think people need to be clear on the difference between hard and fun. I do not find these dungeons to be hard, I just don’t find them fun.
I am looking at the game long-term. I played GW1 for more than 5 years. Played other MMOs for as long if not longer, when I see features I like to look at them and say am I going to be enjoying doing this over and over in 3 months, in 6 months, in 12 months, 2 years, 3 years, etc?
I am sorry to say it but I would rather drink toxic waste than think about doing these over and over for years for fun.
My most favourite dungeon of all time was Darkness Falls, back in DAOC when the gear was still the best you could get and you had to unlock access to it via RvR. The encounters weren’t obnoxious or insanely challenging but it was an epic expeience, those who saw it during it’s glory period know what I am talking about and the every present risk of RvRvR PvP risk there made it especially epic and memorable.
That is something I could do for months/years.
We cost them more money by grinding and using their servers power….do they want to ‘boost’ thier constantly logged in numbers that badly?

mmmmmmmmmm DAOC. May be the best MMO ever made. I played on private shards for too long to recount. I know what you are talking about with the way Darkness Falls felt to players, you felt like you were in this epic dungeon. The fights were challenging to newer players, and still offered many interesting aspects to veterans.
GW2 should build off the idea of dynamic content and make dungeons dynamic in some way. Either through non-predictable boss patterns or through changing environments or something. Instead of making the ‘grindy’ aspects of the dungeons more pronounced (repair costs and enemy stats) they should have taken a second look at the paradigm they set in open-world PvE and apply that to instanced-dungeon PvE
