General Dungeon Discussion Thread - Part 2
PvE: sounds nice. PvP: I guess the condi meta is back.
How does a 47.1% dps boost for a condi mes sound? Because if achievable stats and skill condi durations will stay the same… that’s what the staff build will get
Normally I’d ask about ramp up time, but we’re talking mesmer. Sounds pretty sweet.
[talking about PS warrior]
Let’s say I remove forcefull greatsword and phalanx strength? What impact would that have on the way I play this build? Nearly zero impact. I will just have less might application (both personal and aoe) .
I’m… ah. I’m in pain. Huge amount of pain.

Ahh, looking for the loopholes, I commend him on finding it, but we’re talking warrior… the most simplistic profession, such that I’ve been in many groups that fight over who has to play warrior, as in “screw you, you play it!”
2. people were exploiting to get outside of maps.
If they think I need swiftness to goat they are sorely mistaken.
Anybody done any math on the condi buff yet?
Right now I have two codes for Wildstar (Standard Edition) I can give away, does anyone want one? Just shoot me a PM or something.
They buffed icebow…
…
…
…
.
do….d.d.d.do they even play their own game?

Obviosuly not to the point that we do.
From what I understand ANet didn’t want people to cast conjures, use once or twice and drop them so they buffed the lesser used stuff on IB. Makes sense, kinda. It’s not like they buffed IB4 & 5.
That, and they didn’t nerf LH which means our dungeon specialist is awesome :P
Every Engineer player who doesn’t know about Medkit’s reaction to the swiftness nerf:

Diversion recharge reduced from kitten to 38s
Oh god please I’m dying
Hold a moment, did they actually manage to kinda nerf the ranger’s damage modifiers and overall make it look even kittentier compared to other ultra-buffed professions?
Am I just kittened cus it’s 7am and I should really go to sleep? Am I raving? Omg
MINDBRAIN SAVE MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE WHERE ARE YOU
(edited by deSade.9437)
Ye DeSade, let’s face it.. Ranger is in a really bad shape and sure, they make it even worse.
Overall, i don’t know wether to like those changes or not, i fear dungeons will get even easier with those buffs!
Whatever; new shinies so new stuff to farm!
While rangers lost dmg modifiers they also get huge burst potential from quick draw when combined with path of scars and RF+barrage+RF.
Not to mention pretty good amount of quickness from pet swapping combined with warhorn 5 blasting every 15 seconds.
Atleast rangers are still better off than necros in PvE.
I didnt even notice but they actually gave necro another damage modifier trait. Axe training got renamed and gives 10% damage to vulnerable foes. Little more damage is nice.
All those nerfs to lich, plague, consume and spectral walk are messed up though. Lich barely has enough time to cast all the abilities as it is now. Now its even worse so its going to be even more spam 1. No more spectral walk exploits. :<
What about consume conditions? :>
What about consume conditions? :>
Cooldown increased to 30s, and now applies 10 stacks of vuln to you for 4s when it ends. Not sure why they felt the need to nerf the only good heal necro had, when it’s ridiculously interruptible already.
Oh I know what it does alright. I’m poking to get some reactions out of spoj. ^^
They buffed icebow…
…
…
…
.
They buffed 2 useless skills.
It’s not so much that the icebow buffs are that meaningful, but it’s more a sign that the team is so disconnected from their own game’s PvE experience that its not even funny. It needs a nerf, but instead they buff it. WTF.
Long live the chain DF meta. Sigh.
Hopefully the buffs are to compensate for a nerf that they haven’t announced yet, but one would think that would come out with the rest of the balance changes…
Oh I know what it does alright. I’m poking to get some reactions out of spoj. ^^
To be honest consume is the one im least bothered about. The biggest nerf about it is we can no longer cleanse conditions to get out of combat with it. If we have a transfer equipped the vuln is nice. And the nerf just makes you think about which heal you want to bring. I would rather they buffed the other heals but meh.
Lich and plague are just screwed up and unjustified nerfs.
The nerf of IB 4 is still here right ? (didn’t look at it, so i’m really asking)
So what does it change if they buff two skills that won’t be used anyway ?

Don’t forget breakbar changes.
Let’s say you are a Thief running a 66XXX build. With full ascended gear after the patch you will lose 106 Power, 141 Precision and 141 Ferocity compared to now. Now they have buffed many traits to make up for this, but I think people are overestimating how much DPS buffing we are getting. It will definitely be a buff, but it would be a bit off to think of it as a buff to the moon.

It’s warhorn swift all over again, isn’kitten Transfering the vuln isn’t worth it, it’s way too short.

So they revealed the gear stat changes and all that?
I was under the impression from earlier talks that our chosen gear stats would remain similar to before, but this is good.
There is 1087 power on ascended berserker currently. 30% increase gives 326 power. That plus the extra base means that you should have more power (400 to be precise). Secondary stats give 745 so 30% means 224 extra stats. The base increase + 224 means we get 298 attrib points on secondary stats. Which is basically the same as a fully invested trait line gives.
We are getting an overall stat buff to our 3 main stat investments but losing condi duration. Or am i missing something?
And i didnt even consider the following reveal:
“The attribute difference between exotic and ascended gear has been changed from 5% to 10%.”
It could mean exotic is nerfed and ascended stays the same though.

The gear stuff was in the dragon season full notes. Let’s say you’re the aforementioned Thief…
Right now you get 300 power, 300 precision and 300 ferocity from your DA and CS traitlines. Those will be gone.
instead, you get +74 base stats so -226 net. Then your gear will be improved which will grant you an extra 120 Power. So your net Power loss is 106 after these changes. For Thief Critical Strikes has many +Precision +Ferocity traits so my guess is that from a pure stat perspective you will be able to make up those losses and then some.
Ele is in a weirder spot. They get a 150 Power trait… but you have to be in Fire. They get a 190 precision trait… but you have to be in Air. So it seems like Ele is going to be in a position where depending on your build you’re going to lose either Power or Precision relative to now. Scepter will be losing Power AND Precision since it will be water camping. Staff losing precision. Dagger/Focus losing Power. Soooo… more encouragement to run staff I guess. =/

Just FYI, I’m not sure those dragon season notes are legit. The mods keep closing threads referencing them (granted, they aren’t saying why they’re closing them, but misinformation is my best guess).
Either way, I’m glad you guys are already digging into the numbers
Nike arent you missing trinkets and weapons?
Ah, I am. For some reason when I was looking at the notes took it as armor only. Reading again it says “equipment” which appears to be the entire panoply. This is is a really big boost for professions that didn’t go all the way to 6 in one of their DPS trait lines.

Those skill changes… I don’t know what to say.
Also, I apparently managed to lock myself out of my main account. Go me.
I think everyone is still collectively scratching their heads that Ice Bow will still be the meta.

My main account is temp banned as of a few minutes ago. How dare I politely ask for moderators to leave a comment letting us know why they close threads after they shut a couple healthy threads down with no explanation xD
Funny thing is…have you guys ever seen an ‘update’ to an old infraction? I had a warning/pointless infraction from a month ago get ‘updated’ just now to include points so that they could ban me. Neat trick.
Oops….
I mean…
uhm…
trinty is comming! deth to metazerg eleete!

Dusk, can you try to squeeze some blood from that turnip? I mean…they have to be aware that IB is pretty much breaking what little PvE we have.
Maybe they have something else planned? Or as Jerus suggested, maybe they think the breaker bar will be enough (though this still leave the launch content easily trivializable)? Or are they just ignoring it, because…well, you know….instanced PvE?
Sigh…who am I kidding :/
Powercreep all the wayyyy ~
Yeah but we will all be running slower so overall its a nerf.

That’s some brilliant nerfing. Increasing time spent in dungeon not by making skill useless, but by reducing running speed.
The amount of QQ and “the Sky is falling” around the forums are staggering.

As I understood it, they intend(ed) to replace all defiance with a breakbar. Of course this would mean a huge undertaking in looking at old content, especially instanced stuff. Which is why I put that (ed) in there, because I still doubt it, but I’m quite sure that’s what they said.
That should kill the chain freeze meta, but you’ll still have ice bows flowing for the sweet sweet damages.
I didn’t watch the stream and I don’t see it in the notes. Is there a list of base line traits? Or was there a change to these?
That should kill the chain freeze meta
Unless the stun or whatever you get for breaking the breakbar is worthwhile. A 4 second stun is basically as good as a Freeze so I don’t see why you wouldn’t do it.

But you can only break the bar when it appears.
Thats for Wyvern and some new stuff. The old stuff just gets a basic break bar.
