One way to test is to check enemies which do different damaging conditions (quite many of them). I guess I will do some tests next week.

If enemies follow the formula it means condition changes affect them. Currently I have individual damage values for every condition and updating them is a pain. Just listing condition damage values would simplify it.

Random side note, the basic bandit thug doesn’t buff and heal like the elite does while having the same mob description, the third attack of his mace auto also causes a stun, but you can still move and activate skills while affected by it.

Thanks for the test. Before condition changes, elite Cutpurse did 103 damage per poison tick. This proves that enemies use the general condition formula and get affected by condition changes.

Next little question (I would check this if I was home). Does damage dealt by conditions round up or down? What happens with multiple stacks?

Edit: Condition tick damage rounds down, before multiplied by stacks.

So, I just made a “Meta 50 run, Rolled swamp No gitch Mossman” And it has yet to fill after 15 minutes. /sigh

Edit: Dropped the no glitch, it filled in seconds. Was moot anyway. We go bloom.

Edit: During the Snow Fractal I some how got stuck in the wall some how during the fight. I could still get hit by the Ice agony drops but could do nothing else.

Had this bug 2 times in my party. There is a small chance to get teleported in to the wall when boss teleports everyone to him. Kinda sucks when this happens right before boss dies because you can’t loot the chest lol.

I’ve gone ahead and looked into this myself and there isn’t really much to say here. We screwed up. An entirely embarassing situation here, as one of our newer GMs made the mistake of flagging your girlfriend as cheating when in reality she was using Omnomberry Ghost.

Just trying to think of words here to justify this one escape me. Thankfully, when these bans happen we have something to fall back to in order to make sure there wasn’t a mistake…and well…we made a mistake.

Hopefully we have rectified the situation at least a little bit, but I just wanted to stop by here and offer my apology.

Sorry.

I still don’t get the reasoning behind releasing elite specs one by one. Seeing how they still buff and bugfix classes from the first BWE just makes me scared of how unfinished forge/druid will be when HoT comes out. And if forge is going to be AI based with little flying turds it might just end up as turrets 2.0.

Also from what we’ve seen so far rangers are getting aspects and glyphs as a druid which would mean that they either get rid of the pet (no thanks) to use f skills for aspect swapping or they give even less control over the pet because they need the f skills.

I just really hope they don’t screw this up royally and actually make rangers a worthwhile party member in any of the three game modes instead of being a gimmicky crippled warrior.

Remember that nightmare I had? Well, in it, there was this huuuge pet roaming freely and Colin explaining to us how the pet would become much stronger… at the expense of losing any means to control it. I believe I woke up with a feeling very close to panic because it felt incredibly… possible O.o
Anyway, my worries:
- anet leaving the pet as it is with 0 changes to scaling, controls, pathing, it doing no damage at times exc.
- what was said above, druids losing control over their pets and get something [worthless] as a tradeoff;
- no update on old weapons or bugfixes, staff playing exactly as a lb just more condi oriented (and why do 7 out of 9 classes get staff, anyone care to explain?);
- aspects being tied to pet families (so you’re forced to take certain pets) and directly influecing the glyphs (so say, I take aspect of the kitty, I have to take this utility glyph, just like for a revenant);
- aspects changing dramatically your weapon skills, your utilities or locking you out of weapons or utilities;
- excessively gimmicky and supportive traitline, specifically designed with pvp in mind, long casting times (see tempest).
Of course all of this seasoned by a good dose of slow skills, very weak glyphs, short duration aspects, extremely niche uses and so on.

All of the above, I see as very possible. Not likely, perhaps, but possible. At least one of these is gonna happen, because if thief is the king of stealth, ele is the king of everything and reaper is the king of chill and ccs… ranger is the king of gimmicks.

Well of Eternity: No longer gives vigor per pulse to allies but instead removes conditions from them. Increased recharge to from 25s to 30s. Increased base initial heal by 25%
Well of Precognition: Updated functionality. Now gives blur for 1 second per pulse during its active portion instead of on end. When it ends, allies within the well regain 35 endurance.
Well of Recall: Lowered recharge from 45 seconds to 40 seconds. Updated functionality of this well. It now chills for 1 second and deals damage every pulse then gives 5 seconds of alacrity to allies when it ends. New pulse damage is 70% of previous end damage. Effects have been updated to reflect this new behavior.

Im not a Rev (didnt even bought expansion yet) but Anet simply removing a new CC (displacement) all together is a bit boring….

Look at Rev’s #2 Downstate, it’s now simply inferior to the Guardian’s #2, which knockbacks AoE, while Rev is single targetted.

Just why? How do they not see this?

its amusing to be in a dungeon and solo the boss cause berserkers died in 1 hit. while i just go “that didn’t hurt >=D”

i’m currently experimenting mixing some knight gear in with the soldier to give me a bit of critical. but as it is i’m out damaging berserkers by a MASSIVE margin due to my durability, power, and vamperic dmg.

Please tell me he’s trollingggggggggg

But, the excuse that you died because you lacked dps is simply a silly one.

Outside pressure plate type gimmicks everything is soloable, with no other DPS, really no reason people should be dying if they properly prepare themselves. One of the few places I could see lack of DPS getting you killed is maybe on Lupi if you don’t bring your extra blocks/dodges/vigor and bet it all on a timewarp slowed kill or OS nonsense. There you can easily run out of dodges, but there really aren’t many places like that.

As for the quoted, I wasn’t even going to go there when I saw it, but it’s my experience doing a lot of PUGing that it’s often the zerkers finishing things off solo/duo while the clerics staff guard bites it as he eats the first half dozen attacks strait to the face.

P.S. Of course I mean no offense Talyn, I’m sure you’re a fine player (probably better than me ). I just hate that excuse.

No offense taken. I was making fun of Try-hards and the people who lie to get into the group in the same post.

P.S. – I am not that good. But I know if I can solo something and I died in a group then it wasn’t due to lack of DPS, because even if the whole rest of the group is wearing nomads then we got more DPS then just me in my beserker gear alone.

One of the few places I could see lack of DPS getting you killed is maybe on Lupi

Frost, Andal The Thug, Spider Queen, Colossus Rumblus (thanks to amazing NPC), Vahid, and probably a lot more.
There’s a lot of bosses that have mechanics that are difficult to evade over longer spans of time, or adds that can be painful.
The faster you kill a boss, the less attacks he can perform, the less chance you die.

I remember being in a high-end raid guild in another MMORPG called Runes of Magic.
The game was based around a hard trinity, and bosses would simply oneshot DPS classes without a tank holding aggro or a healer/support protecting them.

One of the few places I could see lack of DPS getting you killed is maybe on Lupi

Frost, Andal The Thug, Spider Queen, Colossus Rumblus (thanks to amazing NPC), Vahid, and probably a lot more.
There’s a lot of bosses that have mechanics that are difficult to evade over longer spans of time, or adds that can be painful.
The faster you kill a boss, the less attacks he can perform, the less chance you die.

I remember being in a high-end raid guild in another MMORPG called Runes of Magic.
The game was based around a hard trinity, and bosses would simply oneshot DPS classes without a tank holding aggro or a healer/support protecting them.

Well, can’t say I agree on those lists of bosses, but absolutely yes on the fact that DPS stacking is a HUGE thing in other games as well. In fact one boss in EQ we beat almost purely through DPS. If you killed him fast enough you could avoid 90% of his mechanics getting him down to low enough that he would skip channeling all his various forms and you’d just deal with the couple mechanics of himself. He was a boss no one beat before that expansion was “old” but once it was figured out he was a pushover. When they went back and did “progression” servers (servers where you started and went through each expansion one by one without all the later expansions to benefit you) he was a pushover because the “burn the crap out of him” strat was figured out. That strat carried over quickly to most bosses to the point that they started designing encounters where you were severely punished for doing that strat, but in a good way in that it punished but not caused failure, so it was still optimal but just not necessarily the easiest option.

There are many times in which you go with an ultra offensive setup, no vigor, no blocks, no selfish utilities because you trust your party and then boom… everyone dies and you’re left soloing with utilities that aren’t up to the standard at all. It happens more often than you think.

I feel kind of guilty that I have only been playing my necro, instead of something more useful like my ele, thief or guardian. I used to love my guardian, but I can’t get into using mace; or maybe that’s just a lie and I want to sit back and watch the world burn.

A guy is arguing with me that people in full exotics should be able to beat “challenging group content.” I argue that what kind of challenge could it be if people can beat it with a 15% stat handicap. “there are other kinds of challenges.” Sure dude. You can have teamwork, interrupt, synergy, individual responsibility requirements and those are all challenging. But they are mechanical. Mechanics get memorized after enough repetitions. What keeps challenging content challenging AFTER you mastered the mechanics is the give and take between “we brought too much DPS, now we die from lack of sustain” vs “we brought too much sustain so we can’t kill before the enrage timer.” Properly tuned content will stress ALL systems and I cannot see how you can have content that is beatable with a 15% handicap that will present a sustained challenge for groups without it.

Also, wtf? This is the “ultimate challenge.” this is the “end game challenging group content.” Why would anyone even think for a second they are ready for that when they can’t bother to gear their main in best in slot gear?

A lot of people are deluded by the fact they want something to fit their train of thought too thightly with no reasoning or evidence to sustain said thought and thus fail to learn the faults of their arguments, that applies to every aspect of life, and that applies everywhere from gaming to daily work, and that’s the challenge in this game, the combat system taxes a lot of your decision making, choices and course of action, what happened is that the accesibility of the game prompted by the developers “casual friendly” and “trinity breaking” philosohpy and the “casual” players supporting it has made everything that came near to be challenging to a rambling rant about “oh this is too hard” “oh I don’t understand this so it must be easier so I can get it” and so everything near to being hard got tuned down because a lot of people just didn’t bother to learn the game mechanics as a whole, in the end the content got ridiculously accessible to everyone and it will go on even with raid content being hard and for sure if it’s hard enough so just the top 5 PvE guilds make it the Anet team in charge of raids will start to tune it down in order to not lose clients, take a look at wildstar it went too far in the hard content direction and everyone stopped playing because they stuck up with the game’s faults just because they wanted to see the raids in there.

Since there’s like 7-10 guilds dedicated to truly being hardcore and breaking dungeon records and so on I do really think that raids will probably be harder than current lv 50 fractals, however I don’t see them being ultra challenging, and sadly that’ll translate to a lot of guys who want this kind of stuff for the game will look for it elsewhere, be it PvE, PvP or RvR.
