General Dungeon Discussion Thread - Part 3
Anet announces last raid boss to require full ascended armor.
Reddit casuals lose their mind.
In before we’re back on the “balanced for a party of green/blues/rares” dungeons.
Edit: Oh and some of them are saying Lupicus is now done blindfolded by the majority.
I really REALLY doubt it’s a “majority”. Probably 75% of the reddit playerbase buys us Arah runs Lol. Not to mention if Anet actually bothered to fix Lupicus Oneshot exploit, even less people would do him.
Yes. He is easy now. But to us. When casuals act like he is easy just because other people do him, I just have to laugh.

They’ll be hard at release, I’m sure. The real questions is: will they still be difficult after 3 years of nerfs’n’neglect?
Pretty soon the raid bosses will start bubbling the walls, teleporting into them and going invisible for several seconds and teleport all the way to Singapore and back every time you move when they’re casting their shadowstep/teleport animations.
Then they will never get fixed or addressed, ever.
/solemn nod
I also bet they gonna keep autoattacking while invisible, for several seconds, and that they’ll shoot random projectiles out of their asses; also, pets won’t be able to do damage to them because of some special buff.

It’s so funny seeing how much people over-exaggerate. It’s fun ruining lupi reflect damage and watching everyone die to the swipe… they die to the swipe… the kittening swipe… oh god now I’m cackling at work, but man, one second they’re calling people noobs, the next, they die to the kittening swipe! hahaahahhahahahahahah
Happy new name “Fractals, Dungeons and Raids”!

I feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
All this red posts and hype…

I can still remember when I saw my first pre-patch redpost hype and actually bought into it, thinking things might change. Although it was over a year ago, I still remember it as though it was yesterday….
if we ever permanently stop working on a particular area of the game, we will tell you all.
:’-)
Good times.
So what deity do I need to sacrifice a goat to to get an ascended armor/weapon drop? Been doing fractal 49 for two weeks now, haven’t seen anything other than a ring.
I got 5 volcanic fractals in a row, and with pugs I got the same rolls on consecutive 50,40,30. Whatever goat you’re sacrificing I’ll take one as well.

It’s something and I welcome it. Time surely flies fast!

I wish I had that RNG.
Would love to be able to fight imbued shaman more often than getting kittening cliffside all the time, or dredge/aetherblade retreat where you can barely blast swiftness anywhere without getting stuck in combat for 19 years.
Tried to roll swamp on fractal 49. It took me over 40 re-rolls before I got it. It was absolutely ridiculous. 30 of those were for ascalon, a handful of underwaters, and about 4 or 5 uncatergorized.
Someday people might realize it would be faster to just do UW if it comes up rather than try to roll for swamp. It’s like a minute or 2 longer and can be soloed easily without the need for portals.
Plus you get to use khamoali!
My necro loves UW. Feels so powerful <3

Shooting teeny tiny ghost sharks on a necro is da best.
Is uw easy to solo? I really don’t like underwater combat all the animations feel very locked in.

It’s more tedious than difficult imo, but not too bad.

Difficulty: 3/10
Tediousness: 9/10
All I know about UW solo is from watching Miku spend over an hour clearing krait during his first FotM 50 solo.
From that, I think tedious is an understatement :P
God I hate krait.

It’s pretty kittening terrible, it’s mostly just the last group of veterans. I’m sure I could do it a lot faster now if I tried but I think I haven’t done it maybe a year, and back then not only was warrior DPS in basically its worst state but I think my aquabreather had the wrong rune on it too so I was using like strength runes 5/6 and just yoloing.
Either way I don’t suggest soloing underwater ruins, the last jellyfish boss is genuinely one of the most tedious encounters I’ve seen in this game and there’s nothing fun about this fractal other than breaking out of the map and goating out of bounds imo.
Dungeon forum looks almost like it used to look some time ago when people started necroing all the dev-posts.
Good job, dlonie. You are now admitted to my deep-fried oreo party!

Hehe, thanks Iris. I honestly expected that thread to get infracted for “calling out ANet employees” or some such, but I’m amazed how quickly so many came to say hi. So hyped for this weekend now We’ll have to see how it all goes, but it sounds like the content production is in good hands. Wildstar-style encounters with GW2 combat systems? Hell yeah, that’s a dream come true.
Mind putting a little salt on my my oreo, though? It’s how I like ’em
Eh, don’t you want to save it to dip in your tears after the raid?
I’ll make it extra sweet just in case…
- doranduck, 2016 on Lore in Raids
I’ll have a few tissues to go with that, I think I’m gonna need them after tonight.
Just throwing it out there, if anyone needs to fill a spot for raids hit me up. On NA that is wish I could play with my Euro buddies but Main Engi, mostly condi lately but I have both, also decent on other stuff usually, love me some Reaper.
Dibs on Jerus.

Please record 10x hammer guardianway raid
Only “blue mechanic” is somewhat fun. Unavoidable damage is extremely lazy. Got to the last boss in 2 attempts and whole party got disconnect.
Unavoidable damage is incredibly uninteresting and lazy. Only vulnerable to condi falls in the same category for me tbh.
I think that boss (red) takes huge amount of damage if you kill the moving AoEs. So its not only condition I guess. That way, Direct DPS players focus the blobs and Condi’s the boss
That would be great, my ele doesn’t do condi very well. Lets hope they manage to fix all the bugs before the weekend is over.
Have to say the whole thing bugging out and being disabled has really left me in a bad mood. I was really hyped to try this kitten out but it took us about 30 minutes to even get inside the raid because of the kittenshow that is the new squad system. I really hoped this time could be different but we are still dealing with good old Anet it seems.
Unavoidable damage just to make healer specs viable? That’s just horrible design decision, I’d rather have a dedicated trinity than this. There are so many ways to make healing good without adding unavoidable damage. Consistency of rules is one of the most important aspects of game design. Nothing makes the player feel worse than to feel cheated by some attacks arbitrarily being undodgeable/unblockable or both at the same time.
I guess they didn’t learn a kitten thing from all the currently implemented content that makes condi useless ie. arahp2 boss, structures and tons of other mobs. It’s horrible game design to invalidate someone’s build arbitrarily and to see they think it’s a good idea to add such content in raids… I don’t know what to say.
If you have no idea how to make condi/healing viable, just copy what works for other games. There’s no shame in doing that and it’s much much better for the players than what we have now.

A… Adam?… I’m sorry I didn’t recognize you. Have you gained a little weight during the past few weeks?

General Discussion never ceases to amaze me.

I also got Nat he’s got one huge pair of teeth, but no glasses. Weird.
And lol. Halloween dye names srs bsns.
Has anyone got struck by a critical hit in raids?
I couldn’t even see myself in that clusterkitten…
I have some screens of my combat log for the legendary mobs here: http://imgur.com/a/Y25LK
None of those show any incoming crits. Those hits are also mostly the ticking background damage procs, I believe, so I wouldn’t be surprised if those didn’t crit anyway.
Not much data, but it’s all I got until they open back up :-/
800 is quite a lot for background damage. Do we miss any hidden mechanics? Hmm… It seems that you can evade and block it too, so it’s unlike agony damage and some canon damage.
- doranduck, 2016 on Lore in Raids
I was pretty tired when I did that, but I also seem to remember seeing a buff on him that said something about the damage being unblockable and unevadable, so …
Or maybe it was actually his autoattack or something? idk, but that seems like the only damage that looked to be ticking.
As for 800 dmg…I was in PVT armor. Maybe they’re just more OP for sustain than I remember That would probably put the squeeze on say, a zerk ele after a while.
Hmm it was hitting my reaper for over 1k. Maybe its percentage based.
Edit: Or toughness reduces it. Which would make more sense.
It was in your combat log that you evaded and blocked the Magic Aura. If it’s his auto attack and it has no range, it could be used to prevent people kite him forever and cheese him. Your heal can’t be up forever, right? Also, it’s far from the rumored Unavoidable damage, isn’kitten
- doranduck, 2016 on Lore in Raids
Yeah, Protection reduces it too which is what I would expect from the skill since it seems to just be direct damage.
I think the message is either you beef up sustain or maximize your burst. A full glass ele probably doesn’t have much to kite the boss easily in a solo setting. A group with 7 glass ele? Better get him down before he hurts. DPS check, maybe?
