Loving the gold fractal weapons, so far I’ve gotten a couple. I think they are awesome! They match my color scheme perfectly but the only problem with them is that in dark lighting / environments.. they don’t look.. well.. gold! I saw the Pre-Hot picture of the Charr wielding the Golden GS, I was “ooh ahh, shiny! Grabby Hands” mine doesnt even look remotely near that shiny in most environments. Wish this would be fixed. Still love them and I’ve reskinned most of my Legendary weapons to the gold fractal weapons. I think ANET did a great job overall, just this one little thing about them, that’s my only complaint.

Look at gold in real life in a dark area. It wont look that gold either. The gold is a result of light reflections. If there is little light gold looks worse.

And also in real life, fighting a giant dragon with a bow and arrows or a heavy sword that you most certainly wouldn’t be able to swing effectively would totally not get you killed. And if you die, you don’t stay dead, there are thing’s called “waypoints” everywhere in real life. Did I forget to mention how easy it is to swim with 100lb+ of gear in water? Oh, and all your real life belongings are magically shrunk till you need to use them, allowing you to basically take all your life possessions with you everywhere you go. Real life is awesome right? Exactly like a GAME.

It still looks like real gold to me. I think it just doesn’t match your character since your char is glowing yellow…

I’d like it to look like the 2nd Pic I posted under the “good lightning” situation.. but it mostly looks like the night time pic. That sucks. There’s only a few places where it actually looks nice.. everywhere else and during the night it looks like mud.

And do you need the actual unused weapon skin consumable to make them? ;/

no they don’t make you gold.
and no you don’t need that if you drop them. You need the base one if you want to forge the gold skin.

Kinda agree with op, in dark they look gray, i’m ok with having them shine less but they are super ugly like that, completely gray.

What do you mean Base one? I got the Shield Consumable Skin from Weapon box but I used it on my Ascended Shield~ then found out about these Gold Skins needing a Fractal Weapon to make it so now I feel like I wasted it and confused.

It’s bad. Unfortunately it’s the only reason to bother with 75-100. I was doing them and got tired of it. That and my AR is 146. I can’t bring myself to shell out hundred of gold just to do higher tiers that don’t give me anything I want. And they look so ugly in my opinion. I hope some people like them tho…. Such a shame.

I can see the details on the skin. That means it doesn’t have enough particle effects and it needs to be brighter and more dazzling. I’m thinking rainbow coloured flame effects maybe.

they need a trail effect like the basics have more than a reflection update imo.
