When the party leader leaves, why does it automatically kick everyone else? I know Anet can make it so this doesn’t happen.
I was just in a fractal, we got to the end and I’m low on bag space so I ask them to wait a sec before the last boss, they go ahead and pull. After the boss I again ask them to wait, I opened up a bank access to clear space, and the second I did the leader left, which kicked us and I didn’t get loot.
If anything send the loot to our mail, but I see no reason to kick a party cause someone left. Give a minute countdown or something after they leave.
EDIT: An additional note, please give us a way to view names of people in the group after the group disperses. It’d be nice to block people that don’t listen and leave early.

Yes. Yes it does.

I know it does… I’m asking why.
They think it’s a good feature. Despite hundreds of threads complaining about it, they still think it’s good.
I think Anet said something about how the dungeon opener is implemented similar to owners of story instances. If the instance owner leaves, then it kicks everyone out.
I ran a dungeon path once, instance owner left the instance before everyone actually got the rewards (the one that pops up after the NPCs talk). I didn’t bother running the path again that day.
It sucks, I know. Unfortunately the only workaround for it is to open the instance yourself.
It is an issue with the way they programmed it. A huge big FAIL and they won’t even admit it. Other MMOs showed 10 years before how to do it. It seems a fix would be rather complicated and they gave this low priority if any at all since people still run the dungeons.
I will just leave this here……
Here’s the “instance owner left!” post for the week….
As to “why?”, it’s not in their interests to fix it, or even do a simple work around (unkickable instance owners anyone?).
It’s easier to accept the poor support for this game once you just accept that GW2 is in the “Cash Grab” stage of its life and that paying developers to do maintenance doesn’t really help their bottom line at all.
If you need proof, check out this google query.

Dang.
Despite the fact that we all know what you say is true, reading this still was… :o
Basically you did a good job at sinking it in to my head that I should never anticipate positive changes for existing content in the game. My thoughts on this weren’t all as clear as I’d like them to be I guess because I’m still happy about the harpy feather event being fixed and the removal of the ancient ooze safespot :P

Well, this just happened.
Time will tell if it’s just spin to try to calm the kittenstorm created by the recent interview, or if they’re serious about improving communication.
Until then, yeah. If something is broken and doesn’t have a trivial fix, I’m not going to hold my breath. Like I said in my reply to Chris’s thread — just letting us know that they’re aware of problems like this one would go such a long way towards improving our attitudes towards the company……but until that happens…yeah.
“make it easier and less risky for me and my buddy to kick people”
being the leader/owner is the safest way to run a dungeon.
If, say, you are the leader, I doubt this thread would’ve even started.

MHM everyone should open their own dungeons! all 5 people in the group!
They heard my cry!!

…..and everyone else’s who has played this game.
And of course now that they’ve announced a change there’s a whole lot of people complaining that this change is a terrible idea.

Because it is unfinished.
