Just skimming over lots of replies where the posters never bothered to check out gw2lfg. Your loss for lack of effort. The game is what it is. You can complain or adapt around. Personally I think its a wonderful tool thats really opened up dungeons for players. Not only that I find players from other servers which is an ideal situation. If one server’s gate is contested anothers might not be. Good stuff.

GW2LFG is a joke. It’s frequently used to troll others by posting others in-game names for very wanted groups like Fractals level 1 or “send me a tell for 1 gold” in the description. You can flag some of these on their site but it’s stupidly easy to evade the ban on them. GW2LFG is a flimsy band-aid on the problem of how split up groups are now due to Fractals.

For what it’s worth, gw2lfg.com works really well. I always use to find dungeon groups and i have not failed to create/join a group even once so far. It usually takes 10 minutes tops to fill a group, but often faster then that. And i’m not talking about FotM here, those groups are found easily enough without gw2lfg.com.

I hope to see almost the exact same tool in-game. A simple post in a list that shows your name, where you want to go and a comment. Top that of with a “join” (to join the group) button and a “merge” (to merge your group with another) button for extra coolness. In addition to that, filter out every chat message with “LFG/LFM” and every possible variation of that from the general chats, and display a message saying “Use the LFG window you kitten” when someone tries to post such message. Do that, and world hunger is solved.

I do not understand this gw2lfg.com. It doesn’t show everyone’s server name, don’t you need to be on the same server to join someone in the dungeon. I’m not going to switch servers just to join someone for a single dungeon run.

You don’t have to be in the same server. You can do dungeons with anyone in the world.

And how to do that?

Make/ join a group in LA overflow as normal, travel to dungeon map and when someone triggers story/ explorable mode you will get a prompt to enter even if they are on a different server (or in the case of HotW you go thru the door and get the option to join your party).
It was limited a month or so ago, i.e. players on US servers could group with other players on different US servers but you couldn’t mix US with EU players. Don’t know whether they have fixed that issue or it still applies though.

I thought I read that anyone could join in at the highest-level player’s fractal to stop this ridiculous fracturing. Now instead of one extra dungeon to LFG for we have 30.

This shouldn’t be stickied. It’s equivalent to telling all your users to go use and unverified 3rd party system because you don’t have the means to do it yourself.

I totally agree! Thats a real shame for Anet becouse of this. This is like: “Really? I have to post on some unchecked site to find group for dungeon? No. Thanks.”

Lack of real Looking For Group tool ingame is really frustraiting (for me), but I know that some ppl love (like Love <3) standing in LA for ages spamming lfxM on /m.

Instead of making this the solution, there needs to be one implemented in the game.

Relying on a third party to fix oversights is a Bethesda level incompetence. This website is a band-aid fix at best.
I also agree this should not be stickied as a solution.

I would seriously hope some development time is being put into making one for in game.

I doubt it because (A) they’re too busy pushing out new content, (B) they’re too busy fixing bugs (see the post from Robert asking people to report Orr dungeon bugs), and © they’ve repeatedly stated that they did not intend to implement a dungeon finder.

I just hope they change their mind about ©.

I won’t be using this site. There should be a LFG chat channel and or a dungeon finder already in the game. Pretty sad that you would sticky a third party site so people can try to find others to enjoy the content with.

Seems to be some mistakes being made with this game recently and I hope the community concerns are taken more seriously in the future.

I love the dungeons in this game but the FOTM dungeons are almost impossible to get a group to run with that are all on the same level and then you have to worry about someone getting dc’d and losing all your progress.

There’s a problem when you have to use a 3rd party site for something that should be a functional feature in-game.

Can’t argue that the game is missing this feature. Maybe it will be added some day. I just chose not to. And I’m finding this a terrific resource.

Yeah I’d just like to point out that I have not been able to do a single dungeon yet due to real life constraints and more importantly being forced to rely on others. Even if I use this stupid site, there’s no one doing the content I need to complete, so my gaming experience is currently on hold at the convenience of others.

Can we just have some henchmen like the old days so people who don’t feel like pugging for an hour can just get a dungeon out of the way?

I don’t WANT to play with other players, I hate being forced to play with other players, I can’t get tokens unless I do a dungeon, I can’t do a dungeon because there’s no one to do a dungeon with. People are all like “join a popular guild”… I don’t want to.

This is idiotic and it’s ruining this aspect of the game for me.

Me and my 2 brothers are lvl 60 and have not run a dungeon together yet, although we’ve tried multiple times. I’m very worried that once I get to 80, there will be nothing to do because the content will be inaccessable. Although the world leveling content and dynamics are awesome, the dungeon/raiding is very frustrating. The closer we get to 80 the more I’m being led to log off. Very poor group find design and very worried about world group events that no one is doing that makes it impossible to do. Getting that in lower areas now. Reminds me of why I quit playing Warhammer online, that game was painful.

Yeah i’m always hearing about how much gold and loot everyone gets from dungeons. I can’t get enough people together for a dungeon. Finding people is exceedingly difficult and not worth my time.

This means i’m way worse off financially and on top of that I can’t farm these stupid armor tokens. (I have no idea why I can’t just buy armor with money and why there needs to be about 20 different currencies.)

I hate being this guy… but as a paying customer who has thus far probably spent over $100 in gems unlocking storage panes and misc items… I WANT NPC party members. Period.

Things are getting worse and worse. I’ve ONLY been able to complete groups like SE using that site. That means potentially reaching out across all servers and STILL having trouble. Interest is getting killed in anything else BUT fractals. I should be attempting CoE story in a few days time, and I’m putting a rush on it especially after seeing this new trend

CoE and SE story were dungeons I’d missed across 4 characters now for various reasons and if this site wasn’t developed, things are bad enough now that if I’d stuck to just my server, even one like Jade Quarry I would have never ever seen that content. Even people using that LFG site and starting now might have trouble and I defintiely don’t envy them.

It’s quite good actually. You go with a pug, see who’s above average, and it him/her to your flist for future runs.

No. You can only join the lowest players fractal number. If you want to progress you must find 5 player ALL equal in fractal difficult.

Still no Dev response? I agree with everyone here, it needs to be addressed. I’m fortunate enough to have 7 people I trust in guild, but still a lot of times we 4 man stuff. Would be way easier and less time intensive were we to find another party member.
On the other hand, I’m glad dungeons are only meant for 5 people, if it were meant for 10+ then no one would complete anything.

The fractals dungeon is so game breaking it’s not even funny. Let’s create a dungeon that has infinite levels. Who ever though of that, seriously, needs to be fired. They should be thought of as spies from blizzard bent on destroying what good this game has.

The incentive for the dungeon is great – shiny new gear that is better than any other gear in the game. However, acquiring suitable gear for your build is almost half as hard as finding a team to do the stupid dungeon.

And how dare you recommend I go to a third party site? Are you going to be responsible for my account should anything happen via hackers? Didn’t think so. Honestly you should be fired for sticky noting this as a solution.

This whole level system is a SERIOUS problem and needs to be addressed ASAP.

And i use it a lot for finding our last fractal member.
A bad thing.. but that is a player problem that when they join a party, or party is full.
That they forget to remove their lfg..

The thing that upsets me the most is, there’s already a group finder type tool in game to join pvp arenas. Why won’t arenanet just adapt this towards dungeons? If they did and you have a couple friends and not a full group then one of you could start one and tell the others to join the group number you started. Then everyone else would see group #053 is 3/5 full and join until the group is full. It would be so much faster and less of a hassle.

I hate how people are completely blind to this and act like auto-grouping isn’t already available in-game, and as such believe there shouldn’t be any sort of grouping tool. IT’S ALREADY IN THE GAME! Right now you can go to pvp arena and auto-join. PvP arena is just another type of instance, there’s really no excuse to not apply the same function towards dungeons. They would just have to make a sign-up npc somewhere (LA?) that lets you pick which dungeon you want to start a group for, and then make it look exactly the same as joining pvp arena, where you can see which instance the group is currently in and how many people are in the group. It shouldn’t be that hard or take very long for Arenanet to implement this.

I’m almost 78 and I’ve never run a Dungeon, because honestly I don’t like the old LFG chat formula. I did it a lot of times when playing FFXI and then on the early WoW era without LFD tool. I really liked the LFG browser that Guil Wars have, and I was totally surprised when I didn’t find it here. A game of this magnitude needs a better, more convenient way of forming groups. I think people are not asking for an automated LFD tool like WoW has (it kills time, but also kills community). A simple LFG/LFM browser will do. If I’m a party leader and looking for more, I can publish my group, what we want to run and maybe a little comment. The tool should also list party members and their professions/levels. If I’m alone and looking for group, I could open the browser and easily find a party with this info. Also, I could put myself on the list and write down the dungeon I want to run (story/exploration) and a little comment. The tool shoul also publish my profession and level.

That’s all, nothing extreme. I’m really surprised this has not been done. And no, using an external site is not a solution. Not even a temporal one.

Edit: Actually, after years of playing WoW, I remember how it was to get a group before and how it is now, and thanks to the LFD tool I can get a lot more done in less time and don’t have to waste a complete evening to get 1 group and do 1 or 2 dungeons. The LFD tool is the reason why WoW is still so succesful, and part of why SWTOR failed. It didn’t have one. And no, it doesn’t kill community. Spamming LF1M over and over is not having a community.

I love GW2 and I love all it has to do. But yesterday I hit 80 and my girlfriend asked “ok, what do we do now? You know, besides exploring everything.” I said “let’s do a dungeon!”… Of course, it was late at night and we couldn’t get a group after 1 hour. And then maintenance happened.

The best thing about this tool it serves as a nice little hurdle that horrendous players aren’t going over yet. I’ve only met top quality people using this site. Let’s keep it under our hats so the terribads don’t show up, let them spam LA all day as usual. 3:>

This is a joke, this tool NEEDS to be in GW2.

I shouldn’t have to go completely to a website to find a group, then go back into the game, it breaks the whole concept of an immersive experience with Guild Wars 2. Forming dungeon groups have been broken since this game first launched and has yet to find a solution.

I’ve been trying to form a group for Fractals of the Mist Level 3 for 2 hours without any help.
It’s ridiculous and I’ll probably never move forward in the dungeons. Utter failure.

I just used the site, formed a group, people from different servers. And now we can’t join each other’s dungeons. This is completely laughable and useless.

Even with this site I couldn’t find a whole group for low level Fractals. It took me an hour for 2 people. Fractionation of the Community. Good job.

I’m pretty sure the development team will soon implement something like the third party LFG system in the game.

The sticky is there to help people know about the great tool until it gets implemented in the game.

quick suggestion: wont it be a bit easier for everyone if the lfg site was implemented as tab or window for the in game client?

Its was said NUMEROUS times in this thread that such a system will not be implemented ingame. One of the simpliest reasons is that it will require more resources and more PPL to moderate it.
Second of all implementing such a system cannot be done in a month without propper testing. Wintersday is a priority now and it should be. Finding a group for dungeons IS NOT a job on the game creators its a job for the players.

What’s next ? and auto farm tool to farm ori nodes while one is afk ?

As for 3rd party systems – WoW, Warhammer online Age of reckoning and lots of other MMO’s use add-ons. I find nothing wrong with that as long as they do not contain something that can harm an user.

Player driven inovations will ALWAYS be one step ahead of the developer’s ideas. And there is nothing wrong with that.

The website works with very good results for me, Look at it as a forum. No more, no less.

I’m not using any out of game tool, to LFG, I bet the great majority of players is waiting for a good and fast LFG tool, not hard to think of one, isn’t it ?
What is frustrating is that no official saying about this is made … what happens is it a technical issue, a community issue ??

GW2LFG.com just hit 200k total LFGs. I’d say this is quite a clear message to Anet.

Thanks for the tip! Now I usually don’t bother going to LA or the dungeon map to look for a party, because I already assume it will either take long or will not work at all, while constantly being muted for “spamming” and paying WP costs all the time. Now I can just Alt+Tab out of the game and check if finding a party for a dungeon is possible at that time.

I don’t mind using player-made websites, because they are just so useful and it takes some of the load off of Anet so they can focus on the more important things like the many bug fixes that are necessary. If we can do things ourselves, why not just do it? I love gw2spidy.com (although it seems unreachable atm) and gw2carthographers.com (eventhough it’s becoming more and more out of date) for example, because they usually do the trick. So what’s the point in asking Anet to create something similar?

not joining a group, but more the desire of some ppl to make things ridiculously easy, that is what i am criticizing. I am not saying that there shouldn’t be ever such a system, i am saying that there should be other priorities considering there is a working alternative. If this alternative is proven to be bad,buggy or harming then this should pop up on the immediate agenda.

Why anathemize player created tools? Finding or creating additional tools to give one the edge will always be a characteristic of free thinking individuals. gw2lfg.com is just another tool in the array. And if it works fine why wasting developoer’s time on mirroring its role when this time can be used to add new content, fix buggs or class balance ?

Having to alt-tab out of the game isn’t a legit working alternative. If legit 3rd party add-ons were an option and it was something you could do while still in game without having to constantly alt-tab while looking at a web page I’d agree. In that regard this tool is really no more efficient than waiting and looking for shouts in LA, with the added burden of having to alt-tab.

Ok the alt+tab arguement i can give a “valid” label. Although i never play in fulscreen mode and thus it is not a problem for me. I agree though that for other ppl this can be a legit pain.

Sporadically today, and especially tonight, no one in our group could get an LA overflow so we could ‘get together’ to enter Fractals.

So, the site will work for regular dungeons but not for Fractals sometimes now since, for lack of a better term, bad development somehow makes it work differently than all other dungeons as far as bringing in people. Makes no freakin’ sense. We all know every level of fractals is in the one instance anyway…

Anyhow, it appears less people are playing even on full servers like mine since LA overflows are no longer a guarantee unfortunately.

IMHO, LA should ALWAYS be an overflow zone where people from all servers come together. Just sayin’…

Workaround:
If you are from EU – get someone on a NA overflow to inv you (pm the first person you see in the NA gw2lfg section) and you got an overflow. Works the other way around as well. Giving the option to force oneself into an overflow might be a good idea although that will require additional system resources (more servers will be on at any given time), although this could actually be a great idea for interserver PvE

Teamspeak, Ventrilo, Mumble and other VOIP are not ingame. Are you saying that you are not using ANY of those for voice communication ?
