I see it all the time in the lfg. People advertising that for 2g they will let you join their party and kill the boss (which is usually on 1%). Does this fall under Lfg abuse?
No.
If they used an exploit to solo and sell the run is different matter though.
I don’t even know why you’d think this would be some sort of abuse.
Last time I talked with a staff member in game, they said it was not reportable. It did come off as the in game staff would like it reportable AND ban-able.
I’ve caught wind that some of the “X gold” listings is code for “X usd” which means these players are making REAL money off the sale of dungeon paths.
Eventually ANet will have to set up the dungeons to have henchmen to fill in the party gaps so people can play the dungeons.

That, sir, is a fantasy…
@Ravion Hawk:
Instead of listening to some baseless rumors you should join a run to see how it works.

It’s not a problem if you do legit.Legit mean that you kill everything like a 5 man group.
It’s banable when you use texture glitch and other ’’illegal’’ methods to get your way through.
Now it’s okey in my opinion if it’s legit. But how can be legit when 2 idiots enters and kicks you then you can start from the beginning and lose minimum 30 minutes of work?
When you can just go in use glitch maxim 10-15 minutes and it’s ok if they kick you then you lost almost nothing.
and ppl who overabuse this exploit should be banned hand to hand with dungeon kickers too.
I’ve been seeing this a lot lately, in fact, I saw a mesmer the other day in Arah path 2 skip the entire sections of the dungeon and port people. They weren’t selling the dungeon and it was my group, but it was odd to see them able to do that.
I really wish selling dungeon paths was bannable, because trying to get a legitimate group together only to see “Selling Path X for X gold! Boss at 1%!” in the lfg tab is getting irritating.
No.

Interesting, this was just answered in another thread by ANet staff hours ago, in this same subforum.
And no, X gold is never slang for $X. That’s about as accurate as saying D&D makes kids turn to satanism and kill themselves. Don’t spread rumors when you know nothing about how things work, k? We don’t need more bullkitten flying around about dungeon selling.

You mentioning that you saw a mesmer skip sections of Arah p2 is insinuating that people who sell glitched/exploited the dungeon, which is very untrue. There are ways to tell if someone did skip sections of Arah.
If your reason to ban dungeon selling is because you can’t find a group, make your own. I’ve waited for over an hour many times with my lfg open trying to sell spots and see many other groups get filled in the mean time. You only see the ones selling because they can be up for a long time.
@Ravion, You’re a funny guy.

“please explain precisely how that person selling a path in any way precludes you from getting a ‘legimate group together’?” -Nike.
Although it is not reportable, there are alot of BHB/jealous people out there trying to be vigilantes and trying to mess with the sellers. I got kicked 2 weeks ago trying to sell, have stopped selling ever since.
Down with the whiteknights.

That’s fairly common, and doesn’t mean exploiting. Did the mesmer portal you guys from the starting wp to the abomination because the party was struggling with the spider/deadeye run? Or from Belka’s wp to the end boss because the final skip is one of the most difficult sections of the game?
Both of these happen very regularly, and are common uses for a mesmer. It’s exactly how portals are meant to be used.
Now, if they climbed a wall that was not meant to be scaled and ported you guys to get around a boss…that’s a different story. But you have to kill all bosses (except Lupi, for some reason…) in p2 to get rewards, so I doubt this was the case.
I really wish selling dungeon paths was bannable, because trying to get a legitimate group together only to see “Selling Path X for X gold! Boss at 1%!” in the lfg tab is getting irritating.
See Swifty/Nike’s quote above. How does this stop you from getting a “legitimate” group together? You only see so many sellers because those groups can take an hour to fill, while legit parties pop in and out of the LFG in less than 2-3 minutes.
This last quote from you basically says “These people are playing differently from me, and I don’t like it! Take away their fun!!” Try to be respectful of people’s playstyles, even if they’re not your own, kk? Those people put the time in to learn to solo these paths, that doesn’t make them exploiters.
So glad I saved this in case this thread popped up again
No, it is not reportable. The official stance is that dungeon selling is allowed as long as no exploits were used to complete the path. Exploits include glitching out of the map (such as under it) to avoid mobs, using exploitable safe spots where the boss will just sit there and do nothing (this is different from using LoS to pull the boss into locations more favourable to the fight. I’m talking about glitches that actually stop the boss from taking any actions whatsoever, like bugging out Mossman in the water), and flat-out using hacks.
Now, that said, I think it’s fairly obvious that while it is allowed, ANet doesn’t particularly LIKE dungeon selling. They do not like the dungeons being “trivialised”, and their stance seems to be that a player should actually DO the content and not just pay someone to do it for them. It’s just that they can’t really crack down on it because if someone is good enough to legitimately solo/duo a dungeon, they haven’t done anything wrong. Likewise, if they were to open up their spots to others, and these others want to “tip” the person, it’s not actually wrong either. (If it were, then people offering tips or gifts to another player out of gratitude for helping them out would also be illegal.)

if they are people who can solo it they probably have people to run with so you just wouldnt see any lfgs at all

Banning people for selling arah is not going to magically make it so you get more “legit” groups.
And if your sole reason for wanting people banned is simply because you don’t like to see their lfg tab well that would be a sad day for you because spoiler alert you are not the center of the universe.
Think of it this way, irl, when you want something done for you, you hire someone for their services, it’s no different here, you want A. Tokens, B. Dungeon Title, but don’t have the time (or just can’t) do the Arah paths, so you hire a mercenary to help do the dungeon for you, you are paying for his services
I understand your discontent cuz you feel that people should be playing and enjoying the dungeons themselves which is fine that you think that way, (I use to, I hated dungeon selling back then) but then I just accepted it as it is, as a service that you pay for. Everyone enjoys things differently
For a moment I thought Brazil was the one behind this troll thread
Hello Daniel. You’re one of my favourite authors!!1
Most of the paths you see for sale can be legitimately soloed. It’s a shame there are not more normal groups forming but it’s not really anything to do with the sellers.
Unfortunately A-net has no idea if somebody is actually exploiting or not :|
So you got banned because brie just stands there? Nice…

Send a ticket to the support and report that employee …
What a kittin this guy, thinking he can get away by faking a ban!.

Confirmed, Using your brain is an exploit.
“Legit”

Yes, absolutely report this behavior to support. If they ignore it, talk to Gaile and she will escalate it. An ANet developer kicking you from the game for exploiting when they are in the wrong is unacceptable employee behavior.
Unfortunately A-net has no idea if somebody is actually exploiting or not :|
This makes me sick.

Let us know if you get your account back. Definitely not coming back if this kind of stuff is the new norm.
I’ll go ahead and play this game. The “screenshot” you’ve provided while “awesome”, doesn’t discount the fact that no one in this screenshot has been actioned. You are posting on the forums, which is a clear indication that you are not banned. None of the people in this party chat are banned. So while the “Legit” is being put into say (according to this screenshot), no action was taken against anyone here.
I know you wanted to post a screenshot of an account being banned, but you are posting a screenshot from the launcher back in 2012. We are on build 38057 not 15377.
My guess is that the GM was putting into question the validity of the tactic being used, but did not action as there was nothing against the rules.
I’ll go ahead and supply the screenshot that the GM took in context of this text. GM Stuffs and Character Name of person in question are blurred (sorry!)

Chris +10 points.
The Build number was a nice detail xD
Nice one Chris! +42 for you
Can we all take a moment to appreciate the fact that this Anet employe is running a celestial guard and signet of resolve.

Is there a reason for this because I just.. I can’t. I don’t even. Yeh.

To be fair, look at this beautiful colorful shield, this is not sarcastic by the way, the shield is kitten glorious in that screenshot.
We can’t say for sure if he runs celestial since it could just be skins.
Also, thanks for clarifying that. Really didn’t think of looking at the build version.
Btw, looking at it the guy in the screenshot at least used the rally-bug, that’s probably why the GM said “Legit”

Well kitten I shouldn’t throw such things into the room shortly after waking up. lol Sorry
//@spoj: Oh come on lol. You guys make me feel like I didn’t even look at the screenshot.

ahah didn’t see that one either, that kitten posted a screenshot of him with lupicus down.
So… I might be missing something here, but why is the screenshot of the elementalist relevant? Because as I understand it, the mesmer was not banned, but why did the GM come up to him and say “Legit” and then not ban him while he did go up to that elementalist and say “Legit” and then banned him?
“I’ll go ahead and supply the screenshot that the GM took in context of this text.”
This makes me think that both screenshots were taken at the same time which is of course not possible.
Either one of them is a photoshop adept or this is not the same dungeon, not the same party and not the same player.

Chris, I was under the impression GM’s in GW2 always had in their nickname “Gm”, as per this post of your fellow Anet employee
So is this just because it was an outdated GM, and only the recent system (pushed 2 months ago) requires them to have “Gm” on their nickname?
And also, why are the 2 cases connected if they occur in different instances?
